*Sonic's POV*
"Fuck that guy!" I heard Spike shouting inside the court which was very unprofessional but I mean, what else could I expect.

Shadow and I had been dating for 3 months now. I was doing way better although still afraid of getting Shadow mad and everytime I saw him or heard Fleetways name I would get a panic attack. Shadow was currently sitting beside me as we waited. My friends, including Spike and Lucy had come to court to be my testimonies, Spike was able to talk about how I was when he met me and my friends were explaining the change in behavior I had after being with Fleetway.

When we left, I was finally free from Fleetway and soon, he will be going to prison, currently going to jail. Which meant I will not have to worry about him for a very long time. I watched as some cops handcuffed my ex husband and watched as they passed by in front of me while he started to cuss me out. He nearly jumped at me from where he was at but suddenly Shadow was in front of me and I was being surrounded by my new and old friends. My ears perked up and I couldn't help but smile.

I wasn't alone.

I was never alone. Fleetway had gone through so much to make me be the way I was now, made me feel so messed up, got me addicted to so many things, got me thinking that I was better off without anyone. He got me so messed up in the head for his own pleasure. He never loved me, I knew that now. I knew what real love was, and I was never going to let go of that ever again. I will not let Fleetway make me feel that way anymore. Ever.

So when I saw Fleetway slip out from the cops hold, I didn't waste a second to finally stand up for myself. Finally do what I should have done this entire time. I ran past my friends and jumped up then spin dashed Fleetway, causing him to fall against a wall. I stopped and punched him roughly across the face then jumped back and smiled. I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

Shadow ran past me and charged a chaos spear then stabbed Fleetways leg and twisted then was quick to turn him and slam his head on the floor then stepped on it and growl furiously. He crouched down and grabbed Fleetway by the quills then whispered something to him that made Fleetway stop trying to get away. Shadow smirked then picked him up and shoved him to rhe guards that soon enough took him away then he walked to me while smiling.

"What did you tell him?" I asked.

"Nothing important." He held my hand. I nodded then looked at our friends who were waiting for us to leave.

"You should have done that a long time ago, Sonic." Knuckles said with a soft chuckle.

*Shadow's POV*
"So what did you tell Fleetway?" Rouge asked as we watched Sonic and the others from the kitchen.

"You heard me, why should I repeat myself?" I rolled my eyes knowing she had heard me perfectly fine with her heightened hearing.

"I thought perhaps I heard wrong." She hummed and sat on the counter while looking at me. "I didn't expect you to say something like that." She looked at Sonic. "Have you talked to him about it?"

I looked at my hand as I pulled out the engagement ring I had bought years ago. "Not yet." I mumbled. "It's complicated now. I can't just propose. I need to ask him how he feels about it. Plus, he just got a divorce, I don't think it's the right time. I think it's best if he has his own time to be by himself. Find himself again."

"So you're going to break up with him?" Rouge snapped her head to look at me. "Are you crazy?"

"It's the best thing to do." I put the ring away again. "I want him to get better, being stuck in another relationship wont help him. I won't leave this time and I am even planning of quitting G.U.N. so I can be around him everyday. Just not as his boyfriend. It will just be a break." I shook my head. "It's for him to get better."

"You really love him, Shadow."

"I do." I whispered as I smiled while looking at him from where I was. He was smiling, talking to his friends like he used to. He was slowly coming back.

"Just don't be an idiot again, you and Sonic belong together." She stood up and patted my back.

"I know." I chuckled. I had never actually admitted that before. "We do. But for him to get better, he needs to find himself again. He needs the freedom to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants without being afraid anymore. When he's ready, I'll be waiting." I looked at Rouge and she smiled brightly then nodded.

We both went to the living room to spend the rest of the day with our friends. Celebrating the day that Sonic finally got rid of that monster.

[Earlier that day]
I crouched down and grabbed Fleetway by the quills as I furiously growled. Then whispered in his ear.

"By the time you get out, if you get out, Sonic will be married to me. And if I so much as hear his name cross your lips, you'll wish the darkness was all you had to fear. Trust me, there are worse fates than never seeing the light again. I will make sure you're buried so deep that no one will remember who you were." I smirked when I felt him stop trying to get away. He nodded and I got him up then shoved him to the guards and watched as they took him away.
