Eraser
A pencil... a paper .... and an eraser
For those who are married and single
For my friends
For all those who had troubles with their relatives, siblings, and so on...
Listen thoroughly to the following story:
After the groom's marriage, his father payed him a visit. The son was engaged in finishing some of the documents on his desk when his father asked him to get a pencil, a paper and an eraser.
"Why do I need to get these things, dad?" The son inquired.
"Just bring them, and I'll explain everything later," the father explained.
"Okay!" The son said still feeling uncertain about the sudden request.
The son put on the desk a paper and a pencil. "Dad I didn't find any eraser"
"Go buy one and I'll be waiting!" The father ordered.
The son frowned but didn't argue any further. Fortunately, there was a supermarket nearby, so he bought it and returned home.
With uneasiness, the son waited for his father to explain what was going on.
"I want you to write something," said the father.
"What do you want me to write?" Questioned his son.
"Whatever comes to your mind!" His father asserted.
The son raised an eye brow but did as told.
It is a sunny day.
The father looked at the sentence, " hmm... erased it," he ordered.
The boy erased the sentence.
"Write something else," the father urged.
The son scribbled down, and then again his father ordered him to erase it.
"For God's sake father! What are we doing right now?!" The son said with so much confusion.
"Write!" He demanded, ignoring his previous statement.
The son sighed and wrote again and again on the same paper and every time his father ordered him the same exact thing.
"For how long are we going to do this? What do you want to tell me?" He asked impatiently.
The father stared at his son and questioned, "Is the paper still white?"
"Huh! Yeah! What kind of question is that!" He exclaimed.
The father approached his son. He patted his son's shoulders and with a weak smile he managed to say, "Marriage life needs an eraser, Jim. Marriage is about compromise, about forgiveness, and it is essential to carry an eraser in order to rub out all the troubles and wrong deeds committed from your wife. All the details that piss you off."
He looked tenderly into his son's brown eyes. "Even your wife should an eraser. Similarly, you'll drive her mad at times." He laughed.
"You're white paper will turn out to be a dark one. It is a rule I've personally followed during my fifty years of age. Let me tell you one thing, erase people's flaws, your siblings' annoyance, your family's consistent bickering, your neighbor's snarky comments, the wrong deeds, and all the things that makes you carry a burden on your chest ... just erase it!"
He walked away from his son, "your life would be easier... just worry about clutching into the happy moments... don't erase those who care about your welfare just erase the hatred and keep the kindness... because all will end one day and you'll find yourself stuck in a dark hole, in a lifeless position where only your deeds and noteworthy actions done will be the speaker .... so do good and erase the rest... just throw everything from the window and pray you stay healthy. That's life!"
With that the father left the room, leaving his son fixed in his position contemplating his father's words that will always be curved in his mind and heart.
