"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE LEAVING ME?!" Gale shouted, tears streaking down his cheeks.

"It's only for a few hours, brother. I'll be back before you know it!" Thor replied, trying to calm him down.

Let's go back a bit. You all know Thor, the god of thunder, the son of Odin of Asgard. He's that extremely attractive avenger, whom everyone loved, and who's got that beautiful, intelligent girlfriend, Jane Foster.

Gale, Thor's brother, on the other hand, was not so great. Yeah, he may have had good looks like his brother, yet he lacked a great personality, failed at everything he did, and had never been able to win a girl's heart.

Thor and Gale had been living in New York City together, since Thor joined the Avengers and wanted to spend more time with Jane. Gale just decided to tag-a-long since everyone in Asgard despised him and he had nowhere else to go.

Anyways, back to the story. Thor had just told Gale that he'll be going out with Jane that night. As you can see, it didn't turn out too well.

"Can you take me with you?" Gale requested, after relaxing a bit.

"Gale, you know I love spending time with you, but this is a date, and you would be third wheeling," Thor told him. "It'd be very awkward."

"So you think I'm awkward?" Gale snapped.

"No, I didn't mean it like that...."

"PLEASE TAKE ME WITH YOU! YOU'RE ALL I HAVE! NO ONE ELSE LOVES ME BUT YOU!" Gale sobbed. That was true, Thor was the only person that always stood by him.

"Hey don't say that, brother, people do love you," Thor protested, even though it wasn't true.

"Just take me with you. I'm begging you. Please!"

Thor sighed. "Fine, you can come, but I have to make sure it's okay with Jane first."

"Yay, Shrek dance!" Gale exclaimed happily, doing some weird dance he made up; his hands clutched into fists, swaying them from side to side, while stomping his feet.

Thor glared at him, but didn't say anything, for he would never want to hurt his own brother's feelings. Although one way or another, he had to help Gale get out of his Shrek obsession. It's really embarrassing!

Gale was not just obsessed with Shrek, Shrek was his role model! He's watched all four Shrek movies everyday. He'd sometimes call himself Shrek and would call Thor 'Donkey'. He even bought a Shrek outfit at the mall. The sad part was that ever since he got it, he never took a shower, for he wanted to smell like an ogre, and have the outfit germs on him forever. Therefore, he wore that outfit everyday since he got it. Now you know why girls never went out with him.

Thor, taking a deep breath, pulled out his phone and dialed Jane's number.

Seconds later, Jane picked up. "Hey!"

"Hello, Jane," Thor responded. "So about our date tonight, mind if Gale joins us?"

"Again?" Jane sighed. This wasn't the first time Gale had ruined their date.

"I'm sorry, I really am, but you know how my brother is," he apologized.

"Did he cry again?"

"Yup."

"Throw a fit?"

"Like always."

"Man, I wish we could have some alone time for once!" Jane exclaimed.

"Me too," Thor agreed.

"You sure there's no one else Gale can hang out with?" she asked.

"Well no once else that would understand him, that's for sure," he said. "And I'm kind of scared to leave him home by himself."

"Yeah, I'd be too if I were you. Look, Gale can come, but please try to convince him into taking a shower. Or at least get him to brush his teeth."

"I'll see what I can do."

"I'm really worried about him you know," she admitted. "He's letting Shrek, who's just some fictional character, take over his life. He needs to clean himself up and wear new clothes. He needs to look presentable in public."

"You're one hundred percent right, Jane," he told her. "Believe me, I want to help him. I'll try as much as I can today, but it's going to take time for him to totally change. Hopefully he'll one day grow out of Shrek!"

"Yeah, hopefully. Well I can't wait to see you later!"

"I can't wait to see you too! Well we better get ready now. I'll see you soon. I love you!"

"I love you too, Thor!" Jane hung up.

"Well, she said yes," Thor told his brother.

"YES!" Gale exclaimed, doing the 'Shrek dance' once again.

"Brother, I'm glad you're excited, but we must get ready now. We're meeting Jane in an hour."

"But I'm already ready," Gale replied.

"No you're not."

"But-"

"Come with me!" Thor sighed, grabbing Gale by the hand, and taking him to the bathroom to brush his teeth.

After a half hour, the Odinson's were ready. Gale, after ten minutes of persuading, agreed to brush his teeth, yet refused to take a shower or change his clothes. Thor, on the other hand, showered, and changed into a gray T-Shirt and jeans, with a nice burgundy coat.

"Gale, you sure you don't want to wear something else?" Thor asked, kindly.

"Nope," Gale simply answered.

"Okay, but you do know about the Shrek Curse right?"

"What's that?"

"Well legend says that if you wear the Shrek outfit for so long, you can turn into Shrek," Thor informed.

Gale laughed. "Real funny, Thor!"

"I'm serious!" Thor insisted. "I don't want you to turn into him. Once you're Shrek, you can never change back."

"Relax, it's just a myth. I'll be fine!" Gale brushed it off, refusing to believe the legend.

Thor, knowing there's no time for arguing, dropped the topic, saying, "Let's go!"

"So Jane, what do you call a green ogre that has a talking donkey as a friend?" Gale asked.

"Shrek," Jane responded, emotionless, staring at her cheesecake.

"Yes!" he said, cracking up.

Thor, Jane, and Gale had been at Cheesecake Factory for two hours and all Gale talked about was Shrek. He wouldn't even give Thor and Jane sometime to bond. What a great way to ruin a date!

"Okay, Thor, don't tell Jane this one," Gale ordered. "What do you call a dirty ogre that won the heart of a beautiful princess?"

"Shrek," she said once again, getting more annoyed by the minute.

"You're right once again," he told her. "Now one more. This one's really hard. What do you call a donkey that talks?"

"Donkey," she sighed, pressing her hand to her forehead out of aggravation.

"YES! YES! YES!" Gale laughed so hard, he was crying. "Gets me every time. So funny!"

"Mmhmm," Jane mumbled.

"Yup, very," Thor said, awkwardly. "Ready to go?"

"I'm sorry our date got ruined," Thor apologized as they dropped Jane at her apartment. Gale was in the car, watching Shrek on his phone, so he didn't hear.

"Don't be, you did a good thing," Jane assured him with a smile.

"I'll make it up to you, I promise!" he told her. "How about a movie this Friday?"

"I'd love that," she agreed.

"And I love you," he said, placing his hand on her cheek.

"I love you too," she replied.

After kissing her and saying goodbye, Thor went home with Gale.

The next morning, Gale went on a walk by himself. He was heading toward a coffee shop when he bumped into a young woman.

"Ooops, I'm so sorry!" Gale told her.

"Ew, you smell!" the woman said, scrunching her nose.

"Thank you! I'm Gale," he introduced himself, holding out his hand for her to shake.

"Katniss," she told him, keeping her hand to herself, since he was so dirty.

After an awkward moment of staring at each other in silence, Gale asked, "Wanna be my girlfriend?"

"Already got one," Katniss replied, walking away.

Gale, feeling tears run down his cheeks, ran back to his apartment.

Gale was weeping on the couch. Thor was at work, so he had no one to vent his feelings with.

Suddenly, smoke appeared before his eyes. A fairy stood before him.

"Hello, Gale, I am the Wish Fairy!"

"How do you know my name?" Gale asked, his face still wet from crying.

"Wish Fairy knows all," she told him. "Now I am here to grant you one wish. What would it be?"

"I wish to marry Katniss," Gale instantly responded.

"Sorry, but I can't force love," the Wish Fairy said. "Besides, Katniss already has a boyfriend."

"I DON'T CARE! GIVE ME KATNISS!"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" the fairy exclaimed. "Don't get so worked up about a girl you just met.

"But, but- SHE'S THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!" he wined.

"Any other wish before I disappear?"

Gale hesitated for a moment. An evil smirk crossed his face.

"Make Thor's pop-tarts disappear," Gale commanded. "If I'm going down, he's going to suffer with me."

"Very well," she said, waving her wand. "Now if I were you, I would change your clothes. You don't want the Shrek Curse." With that she disappeared.

Five hours later, Thor returned home. He went into the cabinet to grab a pop-tart, but was shocked to see that there were no more left.

"Gale, what happened to the pop-tarts?!" Thor yelled.

"Umm, nothing?" Gale tried to lie yet failed as usual.

"What did you do?"

Gale sighed. "I asked the Wish Fairy to make them disappear since I couldn't get Katniss to be my girlfriend. That way we can be upset together!" he shouted happily.

"Brother, you betrayed me!" Thor exclaimed, astonished. "After everything I've done for you, how could you?"

"Are you mad at me?"

"GET OUT!"

"But-"

"NOW!" Thor never wanted to see his face again after what he did.

As soon as Gale left, he turned into Shrek, so no one could ever love him again.
