Chapter Three
I very soon remembered that help wanted sign because it was the key. The key to getting me a job. The key to being in the library all the time. The key to start working with Sammy.
Oh Sammy, if you only knew how messed up my family is, you would avoid me like the plague.
I wish I was strong enough to stay away from him and not talk to him. But as the weeks and months have gone by, all the more I can't stay away.
He's like a drug. His personality being so addictive. I can't stop thinking about him when we're apart. I wonder if he feels the same.
He always says how he likes spending time with me. Now that I work at the library, I'm practically strung to his side all day, not that I'm complaining or anything. Plus, since it's summer now, I don't have to worry about school, meaning I spend every waking second here.
Sammy has me work with him in the security room. We read a lot, draw, write, talk, and once we even reenacted a scene from a movie. It was rather interesting.
We even have started acting like each other, just in little ways that probably only I notice. I really like Sam and I'm pretty sure he likes me too. I just don't know what to do about it quite yet.

Today was just another day at work, or so I thought.
"I have to go to the bathroom," Sammy said.
"Okay, don't fall in." I said, I assumed he had to poop because he doesn't typically announce his need to use the potty if he just has to pee.
"Very funny, Kacey." Oh yeah, I told him the following day my real name, but he's never going to let me live Kat down.
"Whatever. Nature's calling, don't let it go to voicemail." I said with a smirk, yet another thing I picked up from him.
And with that, he got up and left.
It's been 40 minutes, so there's no telling when he's coming back now. He only probably took a lunch break or ran an errand, yet I'm thinking of all these scenarios.
What if he tripped, fell, and hit his head on the sink and he's knocked out? What if he was kidnapped? What if he had a stroke, although he's young? What if- geez, I'm so obsessed.
But should I check on him? What would I find? A smelly bathroom and the love of my life? Would it be weird if I did? I mean, I'm just being a caring friend, after all.
Maybe I will actually go check on him. He never takes this long. It could be an upset stomach or- okay, I'll stop stalling, I'm going to check on him.
As I was heading up the stairs to the employee restroom, I heard an odd thump at the bottom of the stairs. I turned around, expecting Sammy to be attempting to scare me, but I see nothing. I start up the stairs again, but I heard the same thump.
That was really weird, I thought, so I headed back down to find out what was happening.
When I reached the bottom and looked over the office everything was still the same. My coffee empty as always, Sam's full (note to self- switch cups, going through coffee withdraw), my computer on Wattpad, Sam's on- what is that?
His computer had the security system up, but with this email notice in the corner. So me, being my nosey self, I went to check it out.
It was titled "Frenzy time like no other". Attached was a picture of the abandoned barn that's off a long, winding dirt road connected to Main. In it, were about a hundred kids partying. God only knows what "Frenzy time" meant, but part of me didn't want to find out.
