I didn't know what to say, what to do, seeing Carter on the floor like this, whimpering from the pain, covered in blood I had lost my ability to do anything. He tried to sit up but failed and collapsed back down. I was still frozen on the spot.

"Oh my God" I said finally, my hand reaching up to cover my mouth.

As Carter tried again to sit up and fell right back down, I finally found some energy to move. I rushed towards him and sat down next to him. I didn't know what to do, how to deal with this.

"Carter" I said slowly.

He was covered im sweat, his hair sticking to his forehead.

I took hold of his arm and his eyes shifted to me.

"I'm going to try and make you sit up, on the bed okay"

He stared at me for a moment and then nodded. I slung his arm over my shoulder and tried yo drag him up, he grunted a little trying to keep his voice low but I could see how much pain he was in.

He slowly and steadily sat on the bed breathing heavily. I sat down next to him.

"Carter we need to take you to the hospital" I said.

"No, don't even think about it" He replied shaking his head.

"What are you crazy? You need a doctor"

"Eva I'll be fine, just let me stay here for the night please"

I looked at him bewildered, was he out of his mind? Before I could say something else, the bell rang downstairs. Carter sit up a little straight and became alert.

"Who's that" He asked.

"I don't know probably dad's friends they sometimes come late at night" I replied trying to calm him down.

"EVA" came my fathers voice from down the stairs.

Carter suddenly grasped my hands.

"Don't go, please don't leave"

"EVA sweetie its for you are you up?" Said my father again.

"YES IM COMING" I shouted back.

"He might come upstairs" I said to Carter "don't worry I won't let anyone come in here"

He nodded and I stood up to leave, before I could walk any far Carter took hold of my hand again.

"Eva don't let him in" he said.

I didn't know who this 'him' was and neither didn't I ask him. I just nodded and left.

As I reached the front door and opened it I was surprised to see Kaiden standing in front of it.

"Hey Kaiden what are you doing here?" I asked not opening the door wide.

"Nothing, I was just feeling down and happened to pass by here so thought I'll make a stop" He said looking at me intently.

Before I could reply he stepped a little forward.

"Can I come in?" He asked.

"Kaiden im sorry but you can't, my dad he has a policy no boys this late, even Mason isn't allowed" I said.

"Right right, ofcourse he's right" He said stepping back.

"Im sorry"

"No, no worries, just make sure you don't let any boy in this late at night" he said staring at me.

I nodded at him, something felt off about Kaiden right now. I hope he was okay but I couldn't help him right now.

"Well I'll get going then see you tomorrow" I said.

He nodded and I closed the door. I moved towards the stairs but stopped. I need to get Carter some clean clothes and medicine. After making sure my dad was still in the living room, watching tv I made my way to his room. His room wasn't like it use to be, it had lost my mom's smell.

I moved to his closet and got some clothes. After that I went to the kitchen and took a water bottle and painkillers.

When I entered the room Carter was leaning against the headboard of my bed, his eyes closed. For a moment I thought he had slept.

"What took you so long?" He asked opening his eyes.

"I was getting clothes and medicine for you" I said moving towards him.

"Who was it " he asked.

I hesitated for a moment and then said: "Kaiden"

He didn't say anything.

I gave him the bottle after opening the cap and two tablets. He took them togethet and drank half of the water in the bottle. After handing the bottle to me he leaned back to the headboard and closed his eyes again.

"Please let me stay here" he said.

I nodded but then realised he couldn't see me.
"Sure, now lets get you cleaned" I said.

I held him as we made our way to the bathroom, his arm slung over me. He sat down on the toilet lid as I went to get a clean towel. Making it a little wet and grabbing the first aid kit I went back to Carter.

I hesitated for a second as he looked at me. I wanted to tell him to stop looking at me but couldn't, there is no need to tell him I felt intimidated by his stare somehow.

I leaned forward and brushed his hair away from his forehead. They were soft, really soft, I felt like I lingered a little longer before grabbing the towel and cleaning his face wounds.

He had a bruise right above his eye, its good that nothing happened to his eye. There was another bruise on his jaw, like someone punched himbut that one wasn't bleeding. After cleaning his wounds and applying bandages to them I reached over to his hands. They were badly bruised.

"What happened Carter" I asked as I cleaned them with the towel, first the right then the left.

"Nothing" He said.

"Nothing? This doesn't seem nothing to me" I snapped at him.

"Eva its none of your business okay"

I finished cleaning his hands and stopped.

"Not my business? Your in my room right now badly injured, don't you think I-"

"Eva I don't want you getting into this okay? Please just-"

"You got into a fight didn't you?" I said cutting him.

"Eva leave it and please don't tell this to anyone okay? Please promise me."

I was still angry at me I deserved to know the truth but nodded for the time being, he was already in a bad shape.

"Listen I'm sorry about what I said to you in cafe infront of everyone. I shouldn't have, its just that I was angry at you for not listening to me" He said as I was applying the bandages.

I looked up at him.

"What did I not listened to?" I asked confused.

"I told you to stay away from Kaiden but you didn't" he said angrily.

"Why do you dislike Kaiden so much?" I asked.

"I have my reasons"

"What reasons?"

"Eva he's not a nice person okay? You don't know him, just please stay away from him."

I didn't want to argue anymore so I didn't say anything.

After his hands I stopped for a second. He looked at me amuzement in his eyes. I reaches up to unbutton his bloody shirt. As I did the first button I saw him smirk.

"You know what do it yourself" I said, throwing the towel at him.

"What did I do now?" He said.
I rolled my eyes at him and left the bathroom.

I sat on the couch while he was inside. There were so many questions in my mind right now and I wish someone would answer them. Carter William is a mysterious being.

He came out after cleaning himself and changing the clothes.

"You can sleep on the bed I'll be fine on the couch" I said.

"You don't have to-"

"Its fine Carter" I said with a light smile.

He nodded and went towards the bed.
There was quite in the room, I tried really hard to fall asleep but just couldn't.

"Eva?" Carter called after awhile.

"Yea?" I replied sitting up a little.
"Im fine go to sleep" he said.

I nodded and lay back down, sleep finally came to me.

"EVA GET UP" came my fathers voice from downstairs.

I rubbed my eyes and tries to strech my body but wasn't able to. I sat up and realised I was on the couch. Suddenly last night's events came rushing to my mind. I bolted right up and looked towards the bed but there was no one there, I ran to the bathroom to see if Carter was there but it was empty, his blood filled clothes were gone too. Where the hell was Carter? I walked towards the window and saw it was open, he left.

He must have left earlier in the morning.

I sat down on the bed, letting go of a breath I didn't know I was holding. My eyes shifted to the pillow he used, there was a little piece of paper on it.

I took it in my hand and saw a 'thankyou' written on it in neat handwriting. A smile appeared on my face after reading it.

Its been three days since I last saw Carter, since that night. He didn't come to school neither the cafe and honestly speaking I was getting a little worried now. I didn't had his phone number so I call him, I thought of going and asking Drake about him but then stopped. Drake on the other hand himself had bruises but it weren't as bad as Carter's. They sure as hell got in a fight with someone, these rich boys!

I hope he was okay. There were so many awful thoughts running through my mind. What if the person who did this to him found him and kidnapped him or worse killed him. I shiver ran down my body when I thought about that. What if his injuries wasn't getting better.
I was in my room thinking all these things when I heard a knock.

"Come on in" I said.

The door opened and Mason stepped in.

"Hey" he said.

"Hi" I replied and patted on the bed for him to sit.

He didn't talk and I exactly know why. This was a Mason thing, whenever he was a worried or sad or angry he would just sit, not speaking a word.

"Are you still worried about Ally? Don't worry she'll come around, you know her, she can't stay mad at you for long" I said.

"No its not just this fight Eva" He said and sighed.

"She....she's been acting wierd lately"

I wish I could tell him, what was uo with Ally. I would have told him but Ally would kill me and I can't afford dying right now.

"Mason she's fine, its just that she misses you, you know you don't spend much time with her your with Nina and Claud and the rest all the time"

"Eva its not like that, I spend most of my time with you and Ally" He huffed.

"I know Mason, its just....how about you spend some alone time with her? You know take her to a movie or go to the mall or whatever, just don't make fun of her like you always do and she will be fine, I promise"

Mason nodded to my words and then groaned. We did our homework together after that. Mason was a good friend, the kind who's always there in need. I just hope everything between him and Ally turns out alright.

After Mason left I went downstairs to sit with dad in the living room. There wasn't much time I was spending with him and I regretted that, we are both busy all the time.

"So can I know who was that guy who came to our house that night" said dad as we saw the television.

"Oh him, he was Kaiden" I replied.

"Kaiden huh? First Carter and then this Kaiden, I liked the days when it was just sweet old Mason"

"Dad its not like that, Kaiden is um.....he's......he's Henry's son" I said carefully.

My dad sat up after hearing that. I could see his mood change but didn't know what it was, sad or angry.

"Henry? Your mom's new a.......

"Yes" I said softly.

"So Kaiden is your step brother?" He asked.

"Soon to be step brother to be more exact"

He stayed quite, staring at the television screen. I thought he had given up the conversation but he spoke again.

"Its good, you should get along with him and his father, I mean their going to be here from now on so there's no escaping it, its best to be happy for your mother" said my dad.

I looked at my dad for a second and then reached over to hug him. He was the most nicest, kindest and understanding human being in the world and I couldn't be more thankful about the fact that he was my dad.

"I love you" I whispered.

"I love you too" He said hugging me back.
