Chapter 2

Chapter 1: The Mandalorian (Part Two)

The hiss of the door made me slightly turn my head, ready to inspect whoever came in.The thump of boots drew closer and closer, until they stopped next to the booth.

I looked up, my visored gaze immediately meeting another.

This must be him.

The other Mandalorian.

Whispers spread throughout the cantina like wildfire as we inspected each other. He tilted his head, sizing me up I supposed. Meanwhile, I did the same.

His chest plate was painted a maroon color, as was the rest of his Beskar. All over it there were scrapes, cuts, and scratches, revealing hints of the silvery metal beneath. He had an Amban sniper rifle strapped across his shoulder, and multiple cartridge belts to store his rounds.

A utility belt was clasped just above his hips, and a holster containing a IB-94 blaster pistol was attached. He wore a tattered cape that brushed the back of his calves as he walked, and he was broad shouldered and muscled.

We studied each other for a few more seconds, his gaze looking me up and down slowly, before I gave a little nod of greeting. He inclined his helmeted head respectfully in return, before Karga spoke up.

"Ah, that was fast. Did you catch them all?" He asked, leaning back and draping an arm on his booth seat behind him.

The other Mandalorian took a small step forward, placing down his tracking fobs in response. Karga touched them briefly, looking them over before leaning back and looking back up at him.

I inwardly chuckled as I saw a nervousness cross over his face, knowing it was going to be very entertaining to watch him explain that he didn't have all of his credits.

Karga looked at me, then at the male Mandalorian. "Good, I'll begin the offloads." He told us, glancing over Mando's shoulder and calling out to a man in Huttese. The man nodded, pushing off the wall and leaving as Greef turned back to the two of us, leaning back again.

The male Mando unclipped the strap of his rifle from his shoulder, and took a seat next to me, placing it in his lap. I watched him out of the corner of my eyes as he got settled and scooted closer to me, so that there was only a few inches between his shoulder plate and mine.

I instinctively focused my attention on my senses, the back of my mind watching him for any offensive movement, while my helmet remained facing forward as I took in everything before me.

With my helmets heightened hearing, I could hear almost everyone in the cantina speaking about the two of us.

Di'kuts.

I tuned them out and instead focused on Kargas movements as he spread out the tracking fobs and reached into his pocket, pulling out credits and placing them on the table between us with a grunt.

Mando took one look at them, then looked back up to meet Kargas gaze.

"These are Imperial credits."

I huffed softly in amusement, shaking my head slightly before looking at him, then back at Karga, gesturing with my head in a pointed way. "Thank you."

Karga glared at me briefly before looking back at the other Mandalorian. "They still spend."

"I don't know if you heard, but the Empire is gone." Mando deadpanned, meeting his gaze undauntingly. I noticed the way his fingers tightened their grip on his rifle, and my own itched to blast him too.

Karga pursed his lips slightly, leaning back and putting his arms up with a little shrug.

"Its all I've got." He answered with a small sigh.

Mando tilted his head slightly, a small hum escaping the back of his throat before he pulled his fobs back towards him, making Karga lean forward and put a hand over them to stop him. He met his gaze, a small since of desperation in his eyes.

"Save the theatrics! Fine, I'll..." Greef muttered, reaching back into his pocket as the male Mandalorian stared at him expectantly.

I sighed softly, leaning back a little in my seat as I awaited Greef's next excuse.

"I can do Calamari Flan," He said, placing the circular credits on the table. "But I can only pay half."

My eyes flicked down at them before I lifted my gaze, automatically scanning for danger as Mando stared at the amount of credits, silently debating in his head.

After a few seconds, he straightened back up.

"Fine." He grumbled, his tone seething with annoyance.

He set the tracking fobs back on the table and pulled the Flan towards him with a sigh.

I leaned forward, placing both gloved hands on the table as I finally decided to speak.

"Karga." I asked, making him look up from the fobs he was busy sorting through.

"I said earlier I wanted my next job."

I glanced to the side a little, then back at him as Mando gave a small nod of agreement, leaning forward on one elbow expectantly.

Karga raised a brow at me and put the fobs in his pocket.

"I hope you haven't forgotten about our topic before the other Mando here decided to show up."

I straightened up, lifting my chin.

"No. I haven't forgotten. Just don't care. I already told you that." I responded, a hint of authority in my tone as I gave him a small shrug.

Greef looked between the two of us sighing in defeat.

"But Mando, I believe-" Greef began, cutting off, as me and the male both turned our visiored gazes upon him.

He raised his brows in surprise, his eyes flicking between the two of us before he grinned and chuckled to himself.

Me and the other Mandalorian turned our heads to regard each other for a second, sighing in unison, then looked back at Kargas amused face.

"I was saying, I believe that taking the job would be beneficial. For all of us." He explained, gesturing with his arms to all three of us.

I sighed again, shaking my head.

"Gar draar nutennir laam, vaabir gar?" I muttered, making Mando snort in laughter. He immediately covered it though by straightening up a little and clearing his throat awkwardly, looking away.

Karga furrowed his brows in confusion, leaning forward.

"What?" He questioned cluelessly, but I waved him off with one hand.

"I'm serious, Karga. I'm not interested. Now give me my next job." I told him, changing the subject.

Karga pursed his lips with a frown, seeming to think it over. "Alright, alright, Mando. You win." He sighed, raising his hands in surrender as he leaned back.

I hummed suspiciously, knowing he wasn't going to let it go anytime soon. He would never shut up about whatever that stupid partner job was until I took the job.

Whatever it was.
