Chapter 2

"Maybe you should answer it, Yoongs. Maybe it's all just a big misunderstanding."

Yoongi stared at his phone, laying on the table between him and his best friend, Namjoon, and ringing for the umpteenth time. It was her. She'd been calling nonstop since he'd received the text message.

"What is there to misunderstand, Joon?"

Namjoon sighed. "She's not going to stop calling. You're going to have to talk to her eventually either way. Maybe you should just answer now; rip off the band-aid."

Yoongi shook his head. "I don't even know what I'd say right now."

"I just think – "

Namjoon jumped slightly as his statement was interrupted by his own phone ringing. He pulled it out of his pocket. His eyes widened.

"It's her," he said, showing the screen to Yoongi.

Yoongi scowled. "What a piece of work," he spat bitterly. "Don't answer it."

But Namjoon was already pressing the answer button. He placed the call on speaker.

"Joon?!"

"Hey, Misun."

"Where is he? Is he there with you?"

Namjoon looked up at Yoongi, who frantically shook his head.

"Yeah, he's here." Yoongi shot him a dirty look. "You're on speaker."

"Yoonie," Misun said tearfully. "Let me explain."

But Yoongi simply stood and walked away into the kitchen, where he couldn't hear her voice anymore. Namjoon sighed.

"He's not really in the mood to talk, Misun."

Misun burst into tears. "I didn't mean to – "

"Send that message? Clearly."

"Joon, I – "

"How long has this been going on, Misun?"

There was a pause as Misun attempted to collect herself.

"N-Not long," she said quietly. "I just – "

"Look, I don't know what - if anything - Yoongs will want to say to you. But can I say something?"

Misun didn't reply. She simply waited for him to continue.

"I don't think you're going to be able to salvage this," Namjoon continued. "He's really upset, and has already brought up the fact that you helped him get back on his feet after his last relationship ended with cheating. He's feeling really betrayed, and I don't think he's going to be able to forgive you for this."

A loud sob cut Namjoon off, and he rolled his eyes as he waited for the excuses.

"I-It's not like that," Misun whimpered. "This didn't mean anything. It's – "

"Yoongs is going to stay here with me," Namjoon interrupted. "I'll be in touch tomorrow to arrange a time for us to come by and get his stuff. Please don't call him anymore. He's not going to answer."

"But – "

Namjoon cut the call without another word. He hung his head for a moment in frustration, then stood and made his way into the kitchen. Yoongi was leaning against the counter, arms crossed with an unreadable expression on his face.

"You're staying here with me," Namjoon told him.

Yoongi sighed. "Thanks, Joon."

"Is she working tomorrow?"

Yoongi nodded. "She always works Fridays. 10 to 5."

"Okay. Why don't you call out of work tomorrow, and we'll go get your stuff while she's gone."

"Sounds good."

-

Namjoon Yoongs and I will be by your place to get his stuff while you're at work today. Please don't do something stupid like call out and stay home to see him. It would not be in your best interest to do that.

Namjoon sighed as he sent Misun a text the next morning. He waited a bit to see if she'd answer, but he didn't get a response. He was grateful; he was not in the mood to argue.

They still had a few hours until Misun would be going to work, so Namjoon decided to let Yoongi sleep a little longer while he made them some breakfast. While he was doing that, he also decided to call some of their other friends to help them move Yoongi's belongings. From what Namjoon remembered from when Misun and Yoongi had moved in together, nearly all of the furniture was Yoongi's. They were definitely going to need more than just the two of them to get everything out.

"What's up, Joon?"

"Hey, Jin. What are you up to today?"

"Not much. Finally have a day off of work. I was planning on being lazy."

"Well, what would you think about doing the opposite of that and helping Yoongs and me move him out?"

There was a pause. "What happened?"

"Misun is cheating on him. We're going to get his stuff while she's at work today."

There was another pause. "Bitch."

"Yeah. So, you up for helping?"

"Well, of course. How's Yoongs doing, though?"

Namjoon sighed. "Not great."

Namjoon could practically see Seokjin shaking his head in disappointment in his mind's eye. "Hmm."

"She's a real piece of work. Accidentally sent him a text meant for the other guy."

"What an idiot."

"I suppose it's for the best, though. At least now he knows what's going on and can start moving on from it."

"Is this going to be like what happened with Sooyun, though? Should we expect things to get ugly?"

Namjoon considered this. "I don't think it's going to be that bad. But I don't know. Misun is the one who helped him move on from Sooyun. So, he's feeling really betrayed about that right now."

"Why can't the guy just catch a break with a decent girl?" Seokjin asked, more to himself than for a response. Namjoon shrugged.

"He's definitely going to need some time after this one."

"When are you heading over there?"

"Probably in a couple of hours. We're gonna have breakfast here soon, and then we'll head there when Yoongs is ready to."

"Sounds good, keep me posted."

"Hey, Jin, can you do me a favor and call Jungkook? We'll need him to help move some of the larger items out. And see if Tae can help, too? I'll call Hobi and Jimin."

"Sure. I know Jungkook can help. I think Jimin is working today, though. Not sure about the others."

"Okay, thanks for the heads up."

Namjoon hung up the phone just as the soup began boiling. He set about stirring it, and starting up some rice in the rice cooker. It was almost done when Yoongi appeared.

"Good morning," Namjoon told him. "How are you feeling?"

Yoongi simply shrugged. Namjoon nodded. "Let's get some food in you. Maybe that'll help you feel a little better."

Yoongi shrugged again, but grabbed a bowl and piled some food into it. "Thanks," he said quietly as he walked past Namjoon toward the table.

Namjoon soon joined him. "I was thinking we should get the guys together to help us today. We're going to need it."

Yoongi sighed as he picked at his food. "And let everybody else know how pathetic I am?"

Namjoon shook his head. "Misun is the pathetic one, Yoongs. If she can't see how great you are, then she's – "

"Why does this always happen to me?" Yoongi asked suddenly. "What's so wrong with me that they all need to find someone else?"

Namjoon blinked. He wasn't quite sure how to answer that, and he knew that no matter what he said, Yoongi wouldn't accept his answer. He sighed as he laid his spoon down. He'd just have to try his best.

"Because you haven't found the right girl yet, Yoongs. And I know that sounds cliché, but it's true. When you find her, she'll be loyal and worth it."

Yoongi resisted the urge to roll his eyes. "At this point, it seems she doesn't even exist."

"She does," Namjoon encouraged. "And you'll find her. Probably in the most unexpected place at the most unexpected time."

"What, she'll just pop up out of thin air?"

Namjoon shrugged. "You never know," he said with a smile.
