Chapter 10

Yoongi found he couldn't concentrate on his work. He was still concerned about Hana being out so late by herself. He had to take his laptop home that evening to finish the work he couldn't due to being so distracted.

He sighed as he entered his apartment and made himself some dinner. Then he settled in at the kitchen table, opening his laptop and preparing to work.

But he found himself simply staring at the screen. Finally, he packed everything up and headed out of his apartment again. He couldn't stand it. He needed to see her.

Yoongi entered the cafe and looked around at the counter. There was Hana, cheerfully taking orders. He smiled at the sight of her, and how happy she seemed.

He got in line and waited his turn. When he made it to the front, Hana looked up and did a double take.

"Not fate this time," she said with a slight smirk.

Yoongi chuckled as he shook his head. "I have some work to do and keep getting distracted at home. Thought maybe being here would help me concentrate."

"It gets pretty busy and noisy here sometimes," Hana told him. Yoongi shrugged.

"White noise."

Hana laughed. "Whatever you say. Iced Americano?"

Yoongi nodded. "Yes, please."

Yoongi spent the rest of the evening working at the small table he'd occupied after receiving his first drink. He'd ordered a couple more throughout the course of the night, not wanting to take up a table without continuing to be a proper customer. By the time Hana approached his table to let him know the cafe was about to close, Yoongi had finally finished his work. He sighed as he stretched, happy to be done.

"Did you finish?" Hana asked politely.

"Yep, finally."

"That's good. Do you need anything else before you go?"

Yoongi shook his head. "No more caffeine for me. I'll be up halfway through the night at this point already."

Hana chuckled. "You gotta learn some moderation."

"I suppose so," Yoongi agreed. He then stood and gathered his things. Hana began wiping down his table, and Yoongi simply watched her.

"You sure you don't need anything else?" she asked, feeling his gaze on her.

"I'm sure," he replied. "I'll be going then."

"It was good to see you again, Yoongles."

"Always a pleasure, Han."

He then exited the cafe. Instead of heading home, however, he executed his plan to wait at the bus stop for Hana. When she finally approached, she stopped in her tracks upon seeing him.

"What – "

"Don't worry about it. I just want to make sure you get home safely."

"But – "

"You're not a bother," Yoongi interrupted, guessing what she was thinking. "I just don't like the idea of you going so far so late by yourself."

"I told you – "

"I know. But still."

Hana shook her head as she sat down beside him on the bench. "You're one of a kind, aren't you, Yoongles?"

Yoongi shrugged, and Hana smiled.

"Thanks," she said quietly. "I can do this myself, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me a little bit nervous."

Yoongi nodded. "Understandable."

They spent the rest of their time waiting chatting idly and enjoying each other's company. By the time the bus came and they eventually made it to Hana's building, they were laughing and joking. Yoongi realized it'd been too long since he'd felt this free. Free from worries and cares and just enjoying the moment.

That is, until they exited the elevator on Hana's floor.

Hana saw it before Yoongi did, and stopped short with a small gasp. Yoongi looked up and stopped beside her, his mouth falling open slightly.

There were Misun and Ryung, practically sucking each other's faces off in front of Yoongi's old apartment. Upon hearing Hana's gasp, however, the two broke apart and looked at them.

"Yoonie?" Misun said in surprise, pulling away from Ryung.

But Yoongi ignored her. He grabbed Hana's hand and pulled her past them, heading to her door. He waited for her to unlock it. Then he nodded.

"I just wanted to make sure you made it safely," he reiterated. "It was nice to see you. I'll be going now."

Hana nodded nervously, glancing behind him at Misun and Ryung. "You going to be okay?"

Yoongi nodded stiffly. "Bye, Hana."

"Bye, Yoongi," she said quietly as she began to close the door.

"Yoonie!" Misun called out as he pushed past her. "Wait – "

"For what, Misun?" he demanded harshly as he stopped near the elevators. "For you to make up your mind? Seems you can't do that, and what the fuck am I supposed to do? Take you back and accept that?"

"You said you didn't have any interest in getting back together," Ryung argued suddenly. Yoongi observed him with narrowed eyes.

"Stay out of this," he hissed.

"Don't tell her you ever actually considered it when you so rudely pushed her aside."

"Pushed her aside?!" Yoongi asked, his voice rising much more than he intended or wanted it to. "And what do you call her cheating on me? She pushed me aside!"

"She – "

"And who the fuck are you to tell me I did anything wrong? You're just as guilty as her! You knew I existed. You knew she was in a relationship!" Yoongi threw his hands in the air. "You're both fucking pathetic! Fucking assholes!"

"Yoonie – "

"DON'T CALL ME THAT!"

Misun visibly recoiled, and Ryung took a step forward.

"Stay the fuck away from me," Yoongi said to him dangerously. Then, he looked at Misun. "Both of you."

"Yoongi, I'm – "

"What? Sorry? Prove it to me by making the fucking appointment!"

Misun finally burst into tears, and Ryung put his arms around her protectively. "Don't speak to a pregnant woman that way," he shouted.

Yoongi scoffed loudly. "It's her own fault she's pregnant. Or did you forget she purposefully went off the pill?"

"She wanted a baby!"

Yoongi blinked. His eyes turned to Misun. "What?"

But Misun only wailed louder.

"She wanted a baby," Ryung repeated, his voice lowering. "She's ready to be a mom."

Yoongi felt white hot anger began to flow through his veins. "And who ever said I was ready to be a father?! You couldn't have discussed this with me first?" he spat at Misun.

"But you said you wanted a family," she said between sobs.

"Eventually!" Yoongi roared. "And with someone who's loyal to me!"

"Calm down!" Ryung demanded.

"Shut the fuck up!" Yoongi retorted.

"Stop it," Misun moaned. "Both of you. Please."

Yoongi shook his head violently. "I can't even handle this right now. Just...let me know when you make the appointment," he said harshly as he turned away from them and headed to the stairs. There was no way he was going to wait for the elevator after that.

After he'd made it home, his phone chimed.

Hana You okay?

Yoongi set it aside as he laid down in bed. He didn't want anything to do with any part of the situation anymore that night, including talking about it with anyone. He fell into a fitful sleep without replying to Hana.
