Chapter 4

Sam P.O.V

Taylor seems really nice. Shy, but nice.

I found myself closing my school locker at the end of the day, as the final bell for the end of the day rang out. Many students pushed through the crowds of people in the halls, as they were just trying to get out through the front doors to what some, or many, may consider as freedom.

I was just trying my best not to get shoved into the mob of people, so I could make my way home in one piece. When I finally reached the double doors and went down the school steps, I let out a sigh of relief, seeing that I didn't get any ribs broken in that whole rushing process.

Ready to go home, I began putting one foot in front of the other, before hearing a familiar, high pitched voice call my name from behind me. I exhaled in exasperation, as that voice belonged to none of than that girl, MacKenzie.

Putting on a fake smile, I turned on my heel and faced her, noticing her smile, as well as Isabelle's, were just as forced as mine was. Looks like she didn't want my attention for a good reason.

How delightful.

"Yes, Mackenzie?" I said, still trying to sound bright and bubbly, despite the fact that she was the last person I would have wanted to talk to.

"Listen, Sam." MacKenzie started, her smile noticeably fading, as she said my name with a hint of edgy-ness to it. Felt like to me that someone was triggered.

"I don't think you heard me earlier today, when I told you that certain people... Should really just be avoided."

"Oh, trust me. I heard you loud and clear, Mackenzie." I answered, still grinning. I noticed her eyebrow twitch a little.

"Then please explain to me why you're hanging out with that freak." She spat. I narrowed my eyes, feeling the word freak hit a nerve. However, I tried to keep smiling, so I could be the one with the upper hand, and she'd be the one who'd stomp her way from this conversation, frustrated.

"Mackenzie, I think I can choose who I do and don't hang out with, thanks. After all, I can make decisions for myself, even as the new girl. I don't need some drama llama like yourself, getting all up in my shit because you think you know what's best for me." I replied, the smile not leaving my face once.

"Well, don't say I didn't warn you." MacKenzie growled through gritted teeth, before walking past me, and purposely bumping me in the shoulder as she did.

With a roll of my eyes, I exhaled and started on my way home, trying to keep my distance, as Mackenzie walked the same way home as me.

I don't understand why Mackenzie was such a horrible cow to Taylor... She seems so nice. Like she wouldn't even hurt a fly.

God damn it... It sucks that I got held up by that damn brown haired drama queen. I didn't even get the chance to see Taylor again after lunch, and it honestly would have been nice to see if she walked the same way home as me, if I had been paying attention.

Well, I guess I'll just have to find out tomorrow. After all, being the new girl, I need friends in this damn highschool. And I'd like for Tay to be one of them. I don't know what it is about her, but there's just something about her that really welcomes you in. I really can't wait to get to know her a little more!

Arriving home, I threw my schoolbag down by the living room couch with a huge sigh. I heard a few clangs in the kitchen, like a saucepan hitting against something. Moments later, my mother came into the room with a big smile on her face.

"Welcome home, Sam! How was your first day?"

"It was pretty good." I admitted with a yawn.

"Did you make any nice friends?" She asked, picking up my shoulder bag from the living room floor and hanging it on the door, so things ended up being more tidy. I guess you could say I was your stereotypical lazy, messy teenager. And I truly loved how my mom put up with me despite that.

"Oh, yeah. I met a really nice girl at school today. She seemed pretty quiet but... Nice. Her name's Taylor." I explained, causing my mom to nod as she listened.

"What a lovely name! Well, I'm glad you're going off and making friends, Sam." She beamed, pulling me close and giving me a kiss on the top of my jet black hair. I smiled, happily hugging her back as she did.

"So, I assume you're going to go upstairs and go on your computer? You hungry?" She wondered, now letting me go. I shrugged.

"Meh. Not right now."

"Well, perhaps I could leave some food for you for later if you want?"

"I'd love that. Thanks, mom!" I grinned, heading out the room and up the stairs to my bedroom, which really needed to be cleaned, as there were just clothes sprawled out all over the floor. But like I admitted, yes, I'm lazy. And yes, I'm messy. But whatever.

I sat at my computer desk, started it up and decided to play a game known as Project Zomboid. I had become utterly addicted to this game, and I just couldn't stop playing it for hours on end. Especially since, for some reason I just had a huge obsession with zombie games and zombie stories. They were just so interesting to me. I always love asking people that question, "How would you survive a zombie apocalypse?" And I loved talking about it myself, trying to actually think my answer through realistically and logically.

Anyway, video games and zombie apocalypses aside, when it got later and later, I spent the last few hours watching videos on YouTube, mainly focusing on gaming YouTubers, seeing as I had been a big gamer since I was a kid, and I just loved these people that I watched to freakin' death. From Markiplier, to Jacksepticeye, to PewDiePie, before going to a YouTuber who I loved for his music, known as RobertIDK.

I spent my time listening to a few of his covers and songs, while actually trying to somewhat clean my room. I found myself dancing around a little bit, as I was listening to one of his original songs, "Septilier Away."

Hey, they're my OTP, don't judge.

But whatever. Eventually after a ton of dancing and even singing, I got my room cleaned, more than I had expected and before I knew it my bedroom clock was crawling up to 11:26PM.

Seeing as I had to get up for school the next day, I had a shower, got changed into my pj's, before lying down in my bed to fall asleep. I just hope tomorrow is going to be another decent day.

I just hope Mackenzie isn't going to go and give me shit again...
