I decided to go for my evening jog, which obviously turned into an evening walk. This was a bad choice on my part, as it was supposed to rain. I see now that the weather man was indeed correct today and the storm clouds were weighing heavily above me. On my behalf, he's been saying it was supposed to rain the last three days and it hasn't!

I was already on my way home, before the rain decided to release itself and wash over this city. I quickly found shelter under the comfort of an old oak tree. Being this wasn't a thunderstorm, I wasn't worried about possibility of electrocution from the tree which bear my shelter from the hard raindrops.

A minute passed by and I saw a stranger running towards the same tree for shelter as well. He was lucky. The instant he stepped under the the tree, the rain gave us its all.

"Well that was a close one, I'd say!" I smiled politely towards the man.

"Huh? Oh..yeah you ain't kidding. Man I'm glad this tree is here, but I think I'd rather be home." The stranger responded.

There was an awkward moment of silence between us, so I decided to break it. "So uhh..were you out for a walk, on your way to someplace or..?" I asked curiously.

"Ohh..I was supposed to be out for a run, but I'm lazy. And by lazy, I mean, genius here decided to walk and got himself caught in the rain."

I laughed a little. "Yes same here. I start off jogging, but it usually just turns into a speed walk. And they've been calling for rain for three days, I couldn't bear sitting in that apartment another second. I needed the fresh air."

"I know. I honestly just needed to get out. I've been meaning to do this more often, but sometimes my job makes my schedule complicated." I nodded my head. Another moment of silence passed, but he broke it this time. "Do you come here often?"

"Why of course, I always love standing under trees!" I joked. I cocked a smile and eagerly awaited his response.

"Oh..OHH.." he began laughing hard as he realized I made a joke. Even if it wasn't all that funny. "Nice..that was actually pretty good. And ok shush, you knew what I meant. This park? This part of town? Do you come here often?"

"Yeah I live nearby, so it's actually quite nice walking around these parts." I said still smiling from his reaction.

"Well maybe I'll see you again through here." He said quite chipper.

"Definitely! I'd love to...and in the rain?" I asked.

"No..no hopefully not in the rain" he laughed.

"I actually don't mind the rain. It's...quite peaceful, but I'm not a fan of getting caught in it." I spoke truthfully.

"Well it is peaceful, but it comes at all the wrong times! Like now, I should be heading home but..." he trailed off and motioned towards the heavy rainfall.

I smiled in response. I was standing there for a moment, when I was realized I hadn't introduced myself to this stranger . "Ohh..I'm so rude! My name's Y/N by the way."

"Y/N? Why that's a beautiful name. And yes! Where are my manners? I'm Mark!"

I blushed slightly at his comment, but tried to shake it off. I extended my hand for a shake. "Well it's been a pleasure meeting you Mark!" I smiled.
He took my hand and instead of shaking it like I intended, he bent down and brought it to his lips. "The pleasure is mine m'lady!" Then he softly kissed the back of my hand.

I full on blushed. I know my face was as red as a tomato, as I could feel my cheeks warm up in the chilled air. "Ohh..." I chuckled slightly. "So are you always quite the gentleman?"

He was now back in his standing position. "No..?!" His laughter was deep and goofy, but I found it hard not to laugh along. This man was quite charming and handsome, but we've only just met.

A few minutes passed with some small chitchat, but I saw the rain starting to slow down a bit. "Hey Mark? I think the rains easing up! There's a coffee shop just down this street, you wanna make a run for it?"

"Yeah definitely! If you're up for getting a little wet?" He joked and smiled his beautiful smile.

Now was my turn to joke. "No! I thought you could run up there and grab a couple umbrellas. Walk back here with them, so we can get home." I said in the most serious voice I could make.

"Oh..well I mean I can...I just.."

I cut him off with my laughter. "I'm joking. You actually believed me?! Yes! Ok..I'm sorry!" I continued laughing.

"You..." he looked like he had some other words in mind, but changed them. I'm sure if we hadn't just met I would've got a more witty remark. No pun intended! "You got me! And for that, we're gonna race! I'll win of course, but I can give you a headstart?" He asked while raising an eyebrow. Man was he attractive! Especially with that look. But we've only just met?

"Ohh.. You think I need a head start! Jokes on you Mark!" I'm shoved him back slightly before taking off.

"HEY NO FAIR! NOBODY BEATS THE MARKIMOO!" he shouted behind, yet quickly catching up.

"MARKIMOO?! YOU CALL YOURSELF THAT?!" I said laughing and looking over my shoulder slightly. As it brought my attention back to were in was running, I tripped.

I fell straight in a mud puddle. It didn't hurt too badly, I was mostly embarrassed. I was laughing, but he quickly rushed to my side with 'worry' written all over his face.

"Oh my God! Y/N are you ok? Did you hit your head? Wh..Why are you laughing?" He had so much worry in his voice.

I continued laughing while nodding my head. "Yes Mark, I'm fine! I'll have few scrapes and maybe bruise, but I'll live. Oh my God, I can't believe I did this!" My face flushed over in embarrassment and I covered my face.

Mark helped me to my feet whilst scanning for any sign of injury. "Are you sure you ok? You were running pretty fast and you took a hard fall."

"Mark...I'm fine seriously. My elbows a little sore, but mostly I'm just embarrassed. And soaked now!" I giggled and looked at my drenched clothing.

"Ok...well let's get you inside! I'll think twice about racing you?!" He joked while shrugging off his jacket and placing it over my shoulders. "Here you go, now let's get to that coffee shop!"

"Oh..You didn't have to give me your jacket? I was fine, really. Put it back on." I Insisted.

"No no...I insist m'lady! Keep it."

I rolled my eyes as we hastily walked towards the coffee shop. Upon entering I saw my friend Lauren. (A/N: If your name is Lauren sorry haha, but friends/people can share the same name!?) As soon as she saw me, she quickly came towards us.

"My goodness Y/N! What happened? Darling you're drenched, both of you! Stay right here and I'll grab some towels from the back." With that she rushed to the back to fetch the towels.

Lauren was such a sweet woman. When I moved out to L.A. she became my mother away from home. She helped me through so much. She was an Angel amongst the living and one that I could never truly thank enough for her gratitude. Working for Lauren was where some of my best and happiest memories here in L.A. were made.

"Ok darling here are the linens. Now, you and your friend, please take a seat and we'll get you something to warm you up. Tea, coffee, hot cocoa?" She asked.

Mark spoke first. "Ma'am, you'd be an angel if I could have a cup of coffee."

"She already is one Mark!" I smiled at Lauren and she gave me her motherly glare. It always made me smile, but I knew when it was a playful glare and when it wasn't. "I guess I'll have (Y/C)"

"Ok I'll be right back with those!"

Mark and I headed over to a booth and took a seat. It felt nice to be in here especially after being in the crisp, fall air and in the rain.

As I wrapped Mark's jacket tighter around my body, he smiled. "Thought you didn't want my jacket, huh?" He raised his eyebrows at me again.

"Well..I didn't, but it's warm. Thank you. "

He shook his head. "I'm glad and you're welcome."

A few minutes later, Lauren returned with our drinks. The aroma was perfect and sipping the warm beverage was exactly what I needed.

"Mmm... Thank you! This is perfect Lauren!" Both Lauren and Mark laughed at my reaction. "What?! I can't help it! It's delicious and yummy!" I rolled my eyes and laughed along.

"Ok dear, so you know I have to ask...what happened to you two?" Lauren asked while sitting next to me.

"Well...we were both out for a jog..well walk and it decided to rain. We were under the old oak for quite a while, but when the rain started easing up. I thought we could make it here. But Mark decided to race me!" I looked at Mark and started laughing.

"Hey! She forgot to mention that she took off running first, cheater! But she looked back at me, instead of paying attention, and fell. Scared the sh*t out of me!"

"Language Mister!" Mama Lauren scorned Mark. I laughed. She then looked towards me "And darling do you need the first aid brought out?

"No no! Thanks, truly I'm fine! I'll maybe have a bruise or two, nothing serious! But I did indeed get soaked!" I laughed looking down at my still drenched outfit.

Lauren left us, to tend to some others sitting in the café. Meanwhile Mark and I shared normal chitchat over our delicious drinks.

"So Y/N? Earlier you mentioned Lauren was an angel? And the two of you ate clearly close, do you mind me asking your relation?" Mark asked.

"Well no relation actually, but she is practically my mother away from home. Not that I don't speak to my mother often, but it was nice to have someone to go to personally sometimes. When I moved out here, it was hard to get a job...no one wanted help. Lauren was different, she was more than willing to give me a chance. I no longer work here but, I'm a regular and I don't mind helping out during a rush, of course. We became our closest, when she found out I was considering quitting school. She wouldn't tolerate it. She sat me down and told me to pursue my dreams, amongst some other life advice. She helped me get back on my feet, not only mentally, but also financially. I can never truly thank her enough. She truly is an angel to me Mark." I spoke glancing over to Lauren, who was conveniently doing another act of kindness in helping Old Man Kjellberg to his table. I smiled and looked back at Mark.

"You know...I think you're an angel? They way you speak, your smile, and your kindness... You sure you're not one." He said with a handsome smile. I blushed madly, as I hardly knew this man, yet he said something like this. I don't think I've ever had such a flattering comment before. Angel... He called me Angel?!

"Ohh...no! Mark stop. You're making me blush haha. Soo...umm..." we continued our small chitchat. I found out that Mark had a YouTube channel. We had our similarities in opinions, like video games. And our differences, like food.

Roughly twenty minutes passed and suddenly the power went out. A wave of 'oohs..' and gasps were heard throughout the café, as darkness quickly consumed over it. Mark immediately reached over the table grabbing my hand. "Hey, you're not afraid of the dark are you?" He questioned. I was quite taken back by his reaction and concern in my anxieties. Was he afraid?

("No...it just caught me off guard though!"/ Yes...I'm very afraid! Please come back on?!")

He kept his firm grip on my hand. (I'm not sure why he was still holding my hand, but I don't mind!/His hand in mine was definitely easing my anxiety and I was grateful he hadn't let go. He calmed me.) "Ok, well I'm right here. D*mmit...I hope this power comes back on soon!" Mark cursed.

Lauren's backup generator kicked on, illuminating the lobby slightly.

"Yay...some light." I chuckled. Slowly and, somewhat, disappointingly I slid my hand out of his. He seemed a tad reluctant, ohh..who am I kidding. "And Yeah...soo what's concerning about the power?"

"Well being a YouTuber, people expect you to post videos at a certain scheduled time . Now that the powers out, the video won't upload." He shook his head. Then shot his head up and his eyes beamed. What's he up to?
"Y/N...come here please. Will you join me in a quick video? I have to let the fam know why there's no upload, this is the only way please?!" He looked at me with begging eyes. I wanted to deny them so badly, but was forced to say yes. He had to power to sway my actions by simply looking at me as if he were a child...and we've only just met. What is it about him?

"I..I..umm...sure I guess." I said nervously chuckling. He smiled, jumping to his feet, taking me hand and leading me towards the bathroom. It was single male/female bathroom, but Mark said it was the perfect lighting for these quick cellular videos.

He positioned his phone's camera on us and hit record. "Helloooo...everyone! My names Markiplier...and this here is my friend Y/N!" I waved shyly at the camera. His voice was boisterous and chirpy. "Ok...so bad news: No video today! I'm sorry! The power of LA is a big bag of d*cks and decided to go out! So no video guys!" My eyes widened at his comment and I looked at him in shock and amusement.

"Ohhh...haha! I didn't realize the LA could make you feel that way Mark?!"
"What?! That it's being a big old bag of d*cks?! You know why? Cause it sucks....!" He burst out into a fit laughter with me following suit, though my face was much redder than his. "Sorry everyone, you know how I am. I'm a meme! The King! I'm Markimoo..." he said raising his arms to flex his biceps and wiggling his eyebrows. Quite attractive in my opinion.

"Oh my God...are you always like this, on camera?!" I genuinely asked. Camera still rolling mind you!

"No...I'm always like this as a person! You couldn't tell?" We both laughed and I muttered a small 'I don't know'. "Well anyways guys, this lovely lady saved me from the downpour of LA. If it wasn't for her I'd still be stuck under a tree, waiting for the rain to stop. And probably clueless of the power outage. So thank Y/N for saving your Markimoo!"

"Mark...I didn't save you! I'm not a hero guys...This is so weird! I'm talking to a camera!?" I covered my face in embarrassment.

"First off, the camera is every single beautiful viewer out there! Second, you don't need to be embarrassed. I'm thankful that I met you." His words were definitely truthful. I could hear it in his voice.

"Aww...You're one of the sweetest men I have ever met? You guys follow a true Angel here..." our eyes locked for a moment. No words; just silence. It was perfect, for in the silence the rain held words.

Joy

Beauty

Happiness

Friendship

Understanding

...Love?

He then broke the silence, and our longing gaze. My face flushed over again, realizing I hadn't wanted it to stop. But it had to, the camera was still rolling after all. I looked into the lens again and put on a smile. Letting him do the talking.

"Umm...OK soo..I think that's all guys. I'll keep you posted on the power outage here. Hopefully it's not too long, but I'll have those videos up for you ASAP! I love you guys. Have a good one. And I hope to see you soon! Ok, Y/N, anything you want to share?"

"Me? Oh...stay safe! And have fun watching this goof! Nice meeting you!" He snickered at my comment, or was it the fact I'm practically glowing? Could my face get any redder?! Let's not test that! I'm sure it could!

"Ok! As always I will see you, in the next video!" He leaned in and whispered how he said goodbye. It gave me chills down my spine. He was so close. I nodded and we did his famous goodbye together.

"Buh-Byeee..." we both waved at the camera and laughed until he shut it off.

"Thank you for doing that with me? It was fun!" Mark asked.

"Ohh..no problem Mark! You don't need to thank me. And that was fun! I've never done anything like that before." He smiled and stared at me for a moment. I caught him and I was sent back into my blushing manner. Cheeks fully flushed. "Wh...what?" I asked looking down, allowing some of my hair to fall in front of my face.

"Nothing...but I think it's cute how you blush at everything." He then reached over and tucked the fallen hair behind my ear. "And...You have a beautiful smile."

My eyes met his and all I could hear was my heart beat. It was pounding in my chest, I'd never been so nervous before. He stepped closer, with his hand now resting on my cheek. For a moment I thought I might faint. Is this a dream? Is this real? Oh God its real? He's going to...he's going to kiss me. I've only just met him, but I think I want him to. He's inches away and I can feel his breath, smell his cologne, and feel his warmth; I didn't want this to end. He leaned forward, as did I, and before our lips met...

*Knock knock knock*

We immediately pushed away. It was probably for the best, but I was sad that I didn't get to share the moment with Mark. I imagined it would have been perfect. Then again, we're two strangers who live very different lives. What was I even thinking? He couldn't possibly care about me, he's been flirting since we've met. Men like him only are after one thing, I was just being to naive to see it before. "Be right out!" I called to the stranger knocking at the door.

I turned to make sure we weren't leaving anything. And then headed towards the door. I had my hand on the handle and Mark grabbed my arm. "Y/N? Listen I'm sorry I...something came over me. I'm not usua..." I cut him off. I couldn't listen to him. I would just fall for his lies.

"No..it's fine. Don't worry about it." I opened the door and rushed out, earning a strange look from the passersby. I forgot, it's probably because both Mark and I walked out at the same time.

I sat down at our table and tried to forget about what just happened...or didn't happen. But how could I? Especially with him setting across from me. I acted as nothing fazed me and put on quite the poker face. The remainder of our evening was rather awkward. Except for when Lauren periodically checked on us, making sure drinks were full and offering pastries. I just didn't know how to talk to him after that. It got easier though, as he was quite comical. But it still prodded my brain, I hated that this happened...or didn't. I'm not even sure anymore.

"Hey...so I think I should get going? The rains obviously not going to stop and I need to get home. Maybe I'll see you around Mark. It was really nice meeting you, and the video was fun and...yeah umm... Thanks for keeping me company...In the rain."

"Ohohh..umm... You're leaving? I mean you're right is pretty late. I should get going too? Do you mind if I walk you home?" He asked with his beautiful begging eyes. My heart already said 'yes', but I knew it wasn't a good idea.

"Oh...no Mark I'm fine, really! Thank you, but I'll be fine. It's not too far. Besides I'm sure we're opposite directions and your fam will be missing you." I made sure to air quote 'fam'. He was such an odd man, someone I'll never forget for sure.

He looked around as if searching for the words. I wanted desperately to tell him 'yes', but I knew it would be wrong. Instead I stayed silent. "Well...Y/N? I really don't think you should be walking alone this late? Like...There are some bad people out there. Just allow me to walk you home, make sure your safe, and be a gentleman?" Always a gentleman, aye? I couldn't help but smile. He had a way with words for sure, but I didn't care. I wanted this; we wanted this.

I rolled my eyes and smiled at the goofy man whom sat across from me. When I finally caved his eyes lit up and he practically leapt from his booth. "Fiiine...just stay here I'll be back in a minute."

"I swear if you leave me...I'll cry! And I'll find you too."

"Oh my God, Mark?! You're too much. Listen, I'll be back. I gotta tell Lauren bye!" He nodded as I walked to the back, where Lauren was.

We talked for a few and she stressed her concerns about me walking with this stranger. I promised to stay safe and of course call once I was home, she was always protective. I had offered to pay for our drinks and such, but she refused. She said it was her treat. Lauren offered an umbrella, as she only had one, but it was suffice for the two of us. She told us to keep the towels, she knows I will return them later.

"Ok, Mark. Ready?" I called to the man. He sat there like a lost puppy, until I called him.

"Yeah! And Lauren, thank you so much. How much was the bill?" We both laughed.

"Don't worry about it. It's on the house darling. Now you two stay safe out there. And you sir, if anything happens to her I'll have your hide! Understand?" Oh boy..Mama Lauren is back. I know I'd be scared if I were Mark.

"Yes ma'am! I wouldn't dream of hurting her." His eyes were back on me, and the same feelings started floating through my mind again. I didn't know why he had such an affect on me, but the way he made me feel was indescribable. My thoughts were interrupted as I heard Mark again. "Well, it was very nice meeting you. Thank you again. I'll definitely be back!"

We said our 'goodbyes' and headed out. It was much colder now and the rain was steady. We walked side by side, both trying to stay dry under the shelter of the umbrella. Majority of our walk was silent, just small conversation here and there or pointing out things of interest.

When the wind picked up, I was thankful I still had Mark's coat. I wrapped it tightly around me. Mark noticed my actions and brought and arm around my shoulder. He caught me off guard, but it was a kind gesture nonetheless. "How much further is your place? I don't want you catching a cold?"

"Oh..not too much further. It's right around the corner. Honestly Mark, if you want to head home, I'll be fine? Take the umbrella too."

"No no..that's not what I meant. I can get home at midnight and not care, I was just curious. I wanted to know how much longer I'd be with you?" His gaze was directly on me. My heart skipped a few beats. Why did he do this?

"Oh..oh...well not long I suppose? I..umm.." he interrupted my ramblings, thankfully.

"Y/N?"

"Hmm?" I hummed, keeping my eyes on the pavement. Then we stop, I looked at him in confusion. "Wait? What?"

"I'm....I'm trying to make more time." I smiled and immediately looked away. I know my face was bright red, even in the cool air they burned hot. He brought his fingers under my chin and raised my head. I was looking straight at him. Here I go again. Heart racing and heavy breaths. He stepped forward cupping my cheek in his large hand. I could smell his cologne, feel the warmth radiating from his body, and now I surely hear his uneven breathing. He's just as nervous. "Y/N? Can I finish what I started earlier?" I could only nod. I felt paralyzed to his touch. A smile drew on his face, as he dropped the umbrella, cupped my face with both hands, and kissed me. It was the most magical kiss I'd ever experienced. The rain ran down our faces, tickling my skin in the slightest. I smiled into the kiss, knowing that if it wasn't for the rain pouring down on us, we may have never met. Never kissed. Never loved. We held onto that moment forever. Breaking away from it seemed impossible, but when we did it didn't take him long before he found my lips again. Seeking more attention, needing my touch as badly as they needed his, practically claiming them in a few passionate movements. I was awestruck. I was in love. And yes...yes I was kissing a stranger, whom captured my heart in a day, and we kissed..and in the rain.

Nature works in mysterious ways? I like to think it's fate. Mark and I were never big fans of the rain, but now we love it. He's been known to drag me out in the middle of a downpour, just to kiss me. It's not like I'd fight him. I loved kissing him...And in the rain...well it's just more romantic.
