Chapter 6

Idris Point of View

Nothing noteworthy!

Nothing special!

How is this piece of badly polished wood supposed to save me from whatever is harmful?

"Mr. Valen." I was brought back from my thoughts when Owen walked into my office after knocking the door.

"Did you find something?" I put the badly made amulet back in my pocket and looked at my PA who looked very tried but also in a good mood at the same time.

"Yes, sir. And it's totally interesting." He grinned and somehow, I had bad notion about it.

"Do you have flirting intentions with me? Don't grin like a coquettish girlfriend and just tell me what you found." I was already having a bad day again, when I saw him being very jolly, I couldn't contain my annoyance.

What is he grinning for?

Is it something to celebrate about when you were harassed by a little girl who plays crazy sorceress roles?

"Yes, Mr. Valen. Right away, Mr. Valen." Owen cleared his throat. "Miss Fairy's real name is Zephyra Quinn Virelle. She is twenty years old, in her final year of college studying something called 'Metaphysics – notion of mind and matter'. That is the degree she is studying."

Zephyra Quinn Virelle! Such a good name.

Final year student studying what? Metaphysics? And that too something related superstitions and all?

"Indeed, a little girl who doesn't know how to make out her life. How did her parents allow her to be a psychic on streets?" With an irritated look, I rubbed my forehead and asked.

"She has no parents. She is an orphan, Mr. Valen." Aww No!

"But here's the interesting stuff, Mr. Valen." I raised a brow at Owen, waiting for him to continue.

"Interesting? Let's hear it."

"Let me first give you the full detailed introduction of Miss Fairy and her friends, Mr. Valen. The girl who sold trinkets to us, her lady friend; her name is Vivia Tess Everhart. She is twenty-three now, graduated from the university with a degree in antique designing. She is also an orphan and her family had always had this designing talent in them." Okay!

Not bad, she studied something niche and is quite good in her work as well. Not bad at all. A talent, if you ask me.

But why is she still selling her talent on streets?

"Next comes the painting boy. He is Orion Jett Gray, aka Oreo. He is twenty-three, the same age as Ms. Everhart. He graduated from with a degree in Visual arts. Like his friends, he is also an orphan whose family had artistic blood in them. He has always been known for his exceptional imagination power and painting skills even when he was a child. Among the three friends, while Miss Fairy is known for her craziness and liveliness; Ms. Everhart is known for being short tempered and domineering and Mr. Gray is known for his calm, cool and kind personality."

Ah, I have no doubt about the amulet girl's craziness.

She is not just crazy but something worse. I cannot forget the incident of my fear being exposed in public and I couldn't even stop her from talking nonsense.

Even my own PA laughed at me secretly. He thought he was very secretive and I didn't know but how can I not know the people under me?

So damn embarrassing!

That was the first time I ever felt embarrassed in my life.

"Although the information about the three is unexpected to a certain extent, it is not interesting enough for you to be so bloody excited." I couldn't help chide back when Owen showed extreme excitement and interest on his face currently.

"That's because I did not tell you the most interesting part yet, sir. Mr. Valen, the three orphan friends grep up together from a very young age in the orphanage. Guess what orphanage it is!" Owen asked, almost stomping his feet in anticipation.

"Aren't all orphanages the same? Is it an orphanage funded by Valen group?"

"Nope. No one knows that there is an orphanage as such at all. The orphanage is called 'Eclipsenook Sanctuary'; this establishment is interesting because this sanctuary only houses children from a certain families, clan and tribes." Hmm?

"Is it some kind of royal establishment from monarchy times?" I didn't know there is such an organization for orphans like this!

"Not really. This orphanage has been in existence for thousands of years and the children here all came from very special families. For example, Miss Fairy is a direct descendent of a very old tribe from thousands of years that still continued to keep it roots and live through centuries. I couldn't find her tribe's name but I found out that her tribe, for all these centuries, was known for its accurate psychic abilities. They could deduct a person's fate by the aura of that person and could make amulets that work miracles."

"Now about the orphanage, if there happens to be a situation where children from these selective families are orphaned, the orphanage would raise them using the money left by the family. Once the they reach the age of major, they can go and make their own living. However, if there is still some inheritance left after all these years of spending it on them, that inheritance can only be retrieved by the child from orphanage only when they become financially stable. That is one of the very important clauses in the agreement the families and the orphanage signed." Owen continued in one breath.

What a fascinating thing to know!

How intriguing!

So, there are such century-old unspectacular organizations!

"You mean to say, that amulet girl comes from a family of unscientific people?" The orphanage is interesting but this self-proclaimed fairy's family is not.

How can there be something like fate predictions and miraculous charms? This started in the age when superstitions are wildly believed but now, after the science has come into existence, irrational beliefs shouldn't be encouraged.

Not only did that girl change according to the world trend, she is still trying to take forth her tribe's irrational practices.

Even though she guessed my most hidden fear, so what? Isn't that a fluke? Isn't that some psychological trick?

I've seen many psychiatrists and psychologists, who could tell such things easy using the guide of science.

"That is right. However, accordingly my findings, she had never been wrong in her predictions. She is almost otherworldly to people when she was deducing their fates." Just some mind tricks.

I believe she is nothing special. If any, she is a swindler with self-righteous reasons. That's it.

"Anything else?" I seriously don't want to know more of her swindling ways anymore.

I feel that since that little girl is an orphan, I should tell her, explain her clearly that she should live in reality and should not believe in illogical stuff.

For some unknown reason, I feel very responsible about this girl.

"Uh, umm,"

"Just say what you want to." I couldn't help but frown at his dandling behavior.

"I think it is better to keep the amulet close to you until the week of danger passes. It is just two more days to go, so Mr. Valen, you –" Owen trailed off for me to understand the follow-up meaning.

"Not that I believe but to prove she is wrong, I will keep this amulet." I declared proudly with hint of mocking towards the small wooden piece.

"Right, how is it going with Ms. Everhart and Mr. Gray's contracts? Are they ready to sign a contract with our company?" Owen nodded and told that they already signed the contracts and will join the employment from next week.

Those two have real talent and great prospects in future. How can I leave such good resources to dangle on streets?

With them onboard, Valen's entertainment company and jewelry business will take the world towards a new trend.

Pity, the amulet girl is too unconventional in her actions.

After Owen left, I did not delve on amulet girl or the interesting orphanage and got back to work.

It was only at night when I returned home and took off my close to take a shower, did I notice that the wooden piece which was kept in my blazer breast pocket is gone.

The amulet is missing and I have no memory of taking it out and putting it somewhere. I did not take it out at all so where could it go?

I checked my clothes, bag, car and even got naked and checked my whole body in the mirror to see if it got stuck somewhere to me.

But nothing found.

I don't know why I did it but I called the night security staff in the company and asked them to check but it couldn't be found. However, since I have no beliefs whatsoever in the first place, I let the matter go and did not think deeply about it.

But two days later, just on the seventh day of the danger period, I received Owen's call in the evening and it was the news I did not expect at all.

"Mr. Valen, something happened! The amulet has been found and it's –"

What do you think about the chapter? Good?

A little about Zephyra and her friends is found out. Is it interesting?

Idris still kept the amulet despite his disbelief for such old-school faiths.

Where did the amulet go and where is it found?
