Chapter 26

Idris Point of View

For days, even weeks, I was boiling with anger regarding the wedding night charm issue.

But did anyone care about it?

No.

Did anyone bother to feel guilty about it?

No.

Did anyone want to give me some kind of explanation?

No.

After seeing that no one cares about the aphroditic charm matter and instead, they all felt they did not do anything wrong, I could only leave it as well.

But that incident did make me more cautious about the things around me and people around me.

I'm not angry that my family had gone down to such a degree to make a mating mat for me and demon girl.

It's not like we have been married for several years and I did not touch her and gave her an indifferentiable treatment that they had to resort to such a method?

It was my first marriage and my first wedding night, for hell's sake!

Even if I did not have any feeling for her at that time, should they give time for us to lay a good foundation on our relationship and slowly get to know each other like husband and wife?

But that damn aphroditic charm fastened the whole process in a wrong way.

Do I not have any feelings for her now?

I do. A few, but I really do.

However, I have a feeling that it was one of the permanent side effects produced by the charm. And to be very honest, I'm not in the wrong to think in such a way.

Anyways, all these weeks, it was only me who suffered from anger but others did not bother with it and everyone busied themselves in helping demon girl with all kinds of super houses work.

Including me.

I am now a proud carpenter!

The wooden seals and charms that should be cut and carved are left to me to do. That damn demon girl gave me a bunch of drawings and a sample she made with pine wood, through which I have to make everything accordingly with the precious and pristine wood.

I had to go to office and manage a business empire, had to go home and be a carpenter, had to be a husband – Gosh, this is so tough!

However, I was still able to persevere and was able to complete the damn woodwork once and for all.

I thought I was done with the madness once I finished the last of the wood carvings demon girl handed me. But of course, that was just the beginning.

The next day, I found myself sitting at the family's big table with a bunch of blueprints, sketches, and papers everywhere.

I glanced at the plans and guess what! Things were getting real.

Super houses. Not just buildings, but something bigger. Magical, which I doubt though. I couldn't believe how fast everything was moving.

"House One is almost done," Oreo said, tapping his fingers on one of the designs. His hair was a little messier than usual, but the usual confident look was there. "The framework's up, the outer walls are in. Next step is the anchor points for the spiritual magic. That'll take another few days."

I frowned. "Anchor points? What does that even mean?"

I didn't want to ask about this nonsense to be very honest. But when I think about the previous days that everyone comes to me to check my magic knowledge and disdain me for not knowing something so simple – I had to.

At least on the grounds of being a competitive person.

Demon girl, sitting beside him, glanced over. "Think of it like setting up a foundation, but for magic. The house won't hold its power without it."

"Oh," I said, but not really. I still couldn't wrap my head around what these houses were supposed to do. I was used to normal houses, not buildings that could... do things, bend reality, maybe even fight if needed.

I feel like playing house with a child who has legos in hand.

"House Two is coming along well, too," Oreo continued, flipping to another set of designs. "The main supports are in; we're just waiting for the core energy flow to be connected."

"You're going to power the whole thing with energy?" I asked.

Of course, I have no damn idea what kind of energy it is supposed to be.

"Not just energy," Oreo said, "but specific magic. The houses will respond to the people inside. They won't just be places to live. They'll change, adapt, protect. It's not just your regular home."

"What's the point of that?" I asked.

Demon girl shrugged. "These aren't homes. They're like personal sanctuaries. If someone powerful enough comes in, the house will adjust itself. It can defend itself if needed."

"Sounds... complicated," I muttered. "Will anyone come to such a sanctuary for – magical therapy, right?"

"They will," Via spoke up from the side of the room, looking over the plans too. "People will pay big money for a place like this. They'll want the magic, the power. The houses can adapt to their needs—training spaces, shielding, what not? The possibilities are endless."

"But we need to make sure it looks right too," Kaiya added, tapping her finger on the designs. "The inside needs to be practical, but also appealing. We can't just throw some magic walls together and call it a day. It should be very much like those mysterious spiritual places with – I don't know, maybe Aladdin style?"

"Exactly," said my mom, taking another sip of her tea. "It's about balancing the magic with the design. We want them to feel comfortable but also special. Like a place where you could experience life, but also where something big could happen at any moment."

Cyrus raised an eyebrow. "And how are we marketing this exactly? I mean, who's even heard of such super houses that changes based on who enters?"

"That's the selling point," Via said, almost smugly. "Mystery sells. We can promote them as exclusive, magical establishments. Make them sound like something out of a fantasy. People will want to be part of that."

I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "So, we're selling the idea of magic, huh? We're going to hype it up and hope someone buys that damn reason?"

What are these people even thinking?

Why do they even believe in such things and expect that everything is going to work out well?

"Not hope," Via corrected. "We will do it. We'll show them the power, the change, the magic. They won't be able to resist."

"That might work," said Kaiya. "People will get attached to the idea. If they see the magic starting to take shape, they'll want to experience it. The problem is, the houses won't be fully activated yet, will they?"

"Activation's still a few weeks off," Demon girl said. "But we'll set up a smaller version of the power flow in one of the rooms. Let people sense it. Not full power, but enough to give them a taste."

"Alright, alright," I said, sitting back in my chair. "So, we're going to show people half-finished houses, promise them magic, and somehow expect them to believe it?"

"You're not selling 'half-finished ideas,'" Demon girl said calmly, eyes on me. "You're selling the potential. The idea that they're alive, in a way. People will feel that. It's about what they could become."

I wasn't sure if I was sold on it yet, but I had to admit, everyone seemed confident.

I wonder on what basis this confidence is rooting from!

"So, we're agreed on House One?" my mom asked, looking around the table.

Oreo gave a quick nod. "Everything's set. The walls, the core, the energy flow. We just need the final check on the stabilization process."

"What about names?" my dad asked. "We need to figure that out soon."

Demon girl looked at me. "You're the one with the name ideas, right?"

I blinked. "Why do I always get dragged into this? I'm not the one doing the magic stuff."

"You are part of the family," she said, smiling at me. "That means you get to help."

I groaned. "Nope, you all can come up much better and weird names. I have no such talent."

Kaiya chuckled. "Come on, Idris. You named your old cat Chairman Meow. You have some creative spark."

"Exactly," I said. "That proves my point. I shouldn't be allowed near names."

"Let's just call the first one The Hollow Sanctuary for now," Oreo said, scribbling it down. "We can change it later."

"Sounds decent," my dad nodded.

"And mysterious," Via added. "That'll work for marketing."

"Alright, next," Demon girl said, clapping her hands once. "Everyone, review the latest sketches for House Two before dinner. We're locking in the structure by tomorrow."

Groans echoed around the room. Even Cyrus sighed loudly.

But still, no one left.

Everyone bent over the papers again, arguing over door placements, power flow, entry seals, and sky-viewing platforms like it was the most important job in the world.

And maybe, for them, it was.

I leaned back in my chair and looked around at their serious faces. Something about it made my earlier irritation fade just a little.

I still hadn't forgiven them for the wedding night mess.

But being part of this... even if I didn't fully understand it... maybe this was what moving forward looked like.

Not forgetting the past, but building something stronger after it.

Even if it involved magical houses that made zero sense.
