Chapter 2
She looked at him, still frozen in place. Until she looked around and saw that everyone was looking at them, her father giving a stern look to her. She looked down and noticed that the glass shards and wine where all over the place. Mainly on her shoes.
"I'm sorry," she said. She raced out of there, she had too. The embarrassment, the humiliation.
'What was he doing here?' She thought as she made her way outside, she needed air, badly.
Placing her hand on her forehead, she rubbed it. She didn't understand whatsoever why he was even there.
"Charlotte?" Her father question. he walked out sternly.
"I'm sorry, father. It was just a shock to see him again and the wine glass slipped," she said trying to cover. he nodded his head.
"Very well. You will be seeing more of him anyway, I suppose something like this wuld have happened soon," He said.
"Hows that?" She questioned, looking up at his eyes.
"He is marrying your sister of course. I assumed you wanted to be part of the family again" He said walking back to the living room.
'Married? Them?' she thought. She didn't get it, but it was gonna happen. Composing herself, she walked back in just in time to see the toast.
Macy stood up there, all perfect and pristine, her hair and breasts bouncing about as she practically cheered. Jason looked like a trophy husband. Like he was just there to be there. He looked happy.
His hair was about the same, maybe a bit longer, his body, more toned and muscular, he looked a bit taller, but his hazel eyes still looked the same.
She hadn't seen him since high school. she didn't even know that they where dating. Then again, after what happened, she wasn't surprised that she didn't know. Dinner was served, it was just fingerfoods. Mainly so people talking and mingling still.
With her back turned, she grabbed a bit of avocado toast, definatly not cocktail friendly, but she knew it was one of Macy's favorite. What Macy wants, Macy gets.
The taste was fantastic, but before she had finished up, a black jacket arm caught her attention. She turned to find the same hazel eyes as before. He looked uncomfortable.
"So how have ya been?" He asked.
'5 years, 1 mega huge fight, several horrible words and names dirrected at each other.....and he asks how I have been!!??' Her anger started. She dug her nails into the bread, pretending that it didnt phase her.
"Fine I suppose," She said.
"Looks like you are doing well," she said, motioning her hands to everything. she knew it was her fathers place, but that didn't mean that it wasn't for him and that he didn't have something.
"I guess. Made it to the Olympics last time, run a swimming club that has me traveling throughout," He said. She nodded. She knew he made it to the Olympics.
Jason Hollow, one of the fastest swimmers around. It was always his dream to go to the games and compete. She watched him and cheered him on, even if it did hurt her heart seeing him hug Macy after the fact.
"And now Macy?" Charlotte said with a bit of a cheering glee. He nodded. But before they could continue, Macy came swooping in.
"Hey honey," She said. He smiled down at her, Charlotte wolfed the rest of the toast in her mouth and walked off. Thankful that her stepsister came in.
The mistep of the wine glass was brushed asside, everyone was talking about the wedding now. It bothered Charlotte, a lot. Her and Jason used to be friends.
Until one day, he just blew up on her for no reason or explination, she didn't understand it or get it. They stopped talking to each other and graduated. She only saw him when he was on TV now.
The night came to a close around 4 in the morning, half of the guests, asleep in the living room, the rest had headed home. Macy had practically begged Jason to stay with her for the night, but he declined and as far as Charlotte knew, went home.
The morning was a bit different, she could hear the grogginess of everyone. Assuming that she was able to sneak away for the day, she packed up a bag, got dressed and took off with her camera on hand.
As she came down the stairss, she could see all the guests that stayed over where groaning, some of them in pain. Opening the door, she ran into a chest.
"Ryan, if I wasn't supposed to leave, you could have just told me," She said rubbing her sore head. Looking up, she gazed into those hazel eyes yet again. His hair looked damp, like he had just come from swimming.
"Char?" he said. She nearly groaned, guess it was gonna be a thing for him to say her old nickname whenever they first see each other again. She hadn't even been here for 24 hrs yet.
"Whos Ryan?" He asked placing his hand on his hips.
'Has he really never met Ryan?' She wondered.
"Doesn't matter, your fiance is somewhere, gotta run, bye," She said trying to get away. After what happened years ago, and learning he was engaged to Macy, she just wanted to have as little contact with him as possible.
Racing out to find a park to get a few good shots and sketches, she didn't give him time to talk or say hi.
'2 times, I have seen her 2 times and all I could really start out with was Char?' He thought as he walked into the mansion. Half of his family was here, very hungover by the sounds and looks of it. When he dated Macy and eventually proposed to her, this kind of lifestyle and look wasn't exactly what he was thinking.
He didn't even really drink due to swimming and when the Olympics happened, he just decided to drop it all together. Looking around, he was trying to find the one person he came here for, Macy.
His fiance changed a little bit when he originally asked her out. she seemed so sweet and caring, but since they where together, she acted obsessed, clingy...just really really different.
Looking around, he found her asleep on the couch, her groans could be heard as he walkd up and shook her awake. She turned and stayed asleep.
Rolling his eyes, he sat down waiting for people to wake up, finally getting some kind of peace. He thought about it some more, Macy really was acting weird.
She wanted the wedding here, she was super adimant about going to the Olympics with him, and suddenly, they call Char to come and be in the wedding.
"Jason honey?" A voice asked. He looked up to see her awake and hurting from the hangover.
"Need some water?" he asked her. She nodded. Getting up, he dodged a few guests and went to get some water.
"Mace?" He asked. "What happened?"
"Just too much partying, babe," She said stretching, her chest getting emphasized more. I was never one for big boobs girls, but I guess she was an exception, not that we ever did anything.
"Where is she?" Macy whimpered.
"Who?" he asked.
"Charlotte," she whispered before taking a sip of water and about to pass out.
"She ran out as I came in," he said.
"Good," she whimpered, passing right out.
Charlotte got this weird shiver up her spine, like someone was talking about her. She turned back to her sketch. She sat outside of a cute little cafe that sat right across the way for Notre Dame Cathedral. It was still being fixed up since that fire started, but with her sketch, the scafolding looked like the outside of the bones, she loved the way it was turning out. But before she could continue, a body stood in front of her, covering her light.
'Did I forget to pay my bill?' She thought looking up.
"Jason?" she said. Now it was becoming a regular thing, and she was only here for one full day.
"Think we can talk?" He asked with a smile. She nodded her head, placing her sketch pad down, and looking as he ordered a croissant.
He looked down at her artwork, she was still as talented as ever. Looking up, he noticed that she was taking pictures of the cathedral.
"Anyway," he said. She turned and looked at him, he looked beyond serious.
"I wanted to talk about the wedding," he said. She felt her heart drop, he wanted to talk about the day he would marry Macy, not try and patch things up or talk about anything else.
"You don't need to be a part of it," he said, grasping his hands. Her mouth dropped.
"What?" She asked.
"You don't need to be a part of it," he said, like he wasn't phased whatsoever.
