Chapter two

Roman's P.O.V—

What the heckity heck? Why did he run? Why am I so worried? Why did he smell like strawberries and cigarettes? Why am I sad that he left?

"Roman!" I snapped back to reality, looking at a concerned Patton. "Are you ok? I've been calling your name for the past five minutes!"

I shook my head. "I'm alright, Padre, just zoned out a little."

"Roman!" I heard a girl call. I internally groaned and rolled my eyes, turning to her.

   "What, Jessica?"

"Well, Roman, I was wondering if you'd like to go on a date tonight." She said, throwing her hair over her shoulder.

I tensed, glancing at Patton. "Sorry, Jess, I'm busy. Family time." I lied.

Jessica scoffed, frowning. "Can't you just ditch your family?"

"Look, Jess, my mom is dying. I'd like to spend as much time with her as possible before she passes." I told her, which wasn't exactly a lie. My mother was dying, in fact. Enemy wolves had injected her with Wolfsbane, and a lot of it.

"But I'm more important!" Jessica cried angrily. That's when Patton snapped.

"Listen here, you fake ass whore, Roman needs to spend time with his mother, of which all of us know you don't have, so that he can have happy memories of her before she passes! He doesn't need to memorize your fake ass and boobs, so you better stop asking Roman to go out with you so that you can get a good fuck. Now, if you'll excuse us, we're going to lunch." Patton grabbed me by the arm, dragging me to the cafeteria.

I was genuinely scared. Patton has never used a curse word, or ever gotten angry that quick. Much less calling someone a whore, and calling them out like that.

As soon as we sat down, Logan did as well. He sighed, as Jessica and a few other girls walked up. Patton rolled his eyes and growled lowly.

"Salutations girls. May I help you with something?" Logan asked, turning to look at them.

"Yes, Olivia, you can." I saw Lo's face pale and him clench his jaw. "We would like you to convince Roman to date me." Jessica drawled.

Patton growled, moving to stand. I grabbed his arm and shook my head, gently making him stay in place.

Logan closed his eyes. "Correction, Jessica. My name is Logan. If you can not respect that then you do not deserve to have me do anything for you, much less Roman's love."

I looked up at Logan, surprised. When did he become so confident?

Jessica scoffed. "You'll always be a girl, Olivia. Stop pretending to be a boy. This is just a phase, you'll be over it soon."

Patton growled. Logan punched Jessica and I flinched. "How much of a girl am I if I have better fucking aim than you do, sweetheart?" He spat, and walked away.

Patton and I followed him quickly, asking if he was ok, and checking his hand.

"Guys, I'm fine." Logan scoffed. "That hoe needs to stop getting plastic surgery, my hand hurts like hell."

"Language." Patton mumbled, smiling a little.

I laughed, loving these two at the moment. I never thought that they could stand up to people like that.

"You guys surprise me." I told them, smiling at the Beta and Omega.

  "How so, kiddo?" Patton asked.

"You both stood up to Jessica, and I'm pretty sure Logan broke her nose." I explained. "Plus, I'm terrified to make you mad, Pat."

Logan chuckled, and Patton smiled. "Well, an Omega I'd also known to protect their young, which, in Patton's case, was reasonable." Lo explained.

"Yeah, but Patton cursing and calling Jessica out? Terrifying." I said, shuddering. "Never once in our whole lives have I heard Pat so angry."

Patton shrugged. "Well, when someone says that they're more important than family, that just makes me want to rip them apart."

I laughed, shaking my head. Then I thought about the new kid, and his scent. "Hey, Pat? Lo?"

"Yeah kiddo?" Patton tilted his head.

   "Yes, Roman?" Logan asked.

"How do you know when you meet your mate?" I asked.

"Well, when me and Logie met, I could smell his scent. He smells like Peppermint and Honey." Patton explained, and my eyes widened. I looked at Lo, and he sighed.

"The new kid, Virgil Black, is your mate, isn't he?" I nodded. Patton gasped loudly.

"My kiddo has his mate! Yes! Patton squealed.

"Patton! Someone might hear you!" I exclaimed. My eyes widened as I heard a growl behind us. We all turned around to find two guys.

One had a leather jacket, sunglasses, and pink hair. The other had  black turtleneck, a bowler hat, and yellow and black hair.

"You." The guy in sunglasses pointed at me. "You're coming with us. Bring your friends too." He growled.

"Excuse me, sir, but we can't just-" Lo started.

"Come with us, or none of you will see Virgil again." The yellow haired guy growled.

"We know he's your mate." They both said at the same time.
