Chapter Three

"You're so beautiful, Angel," Trevor said as he traced a finger down Alice's spine.

Trevor leaned in and kissed Alice tenderly. Her lips parted to invite his tongue in to play. Trevor groaned into her lips as Alice whimpered into his.

Avery came up and pressed his lips to the back of her neck as Trevor continued to ravish her mouth. Avery worked his way over to Alice's earlobe and caught it between his teeth.

Alice throbbed as their hands roamed her naked body. A chill ran through her, and a shiver broke free.

Trevor took notice and broke their kiss. "Are you cold, Angel?" he asked as he rubbed his hands across her arms.

"No, sweetheart. The complete opposite. You both make me so hot; I can barely contain myself," Alice replied with a sultry smile.

"Who says you need to, baby?" Avery smirked before he gently bit down on her shoulder.

Alice nuzzled her head back against Avery's. Avery caught her mouth with his as Alice tried to pull away. Trevor pinched her nipples into hard peaks as Avery continued to kiss her. Avery's hand curled around her waist and found her swollen nub.

Alice threw her head back against Avery's shoulder as he worked her clit. The warm sensation of Avery's breath on the side of her neck made her nipples grow even harder. Trevor's tongue swiped at them before he latched on and sucked vigorously.

The sensation of Trevor's mouth on her tits with the skillful way Avery teased her clit had her on the cusp of release.

"Oh, Avery—" Alice moaned as he applied more pressure.

Trevor lightly scraped his teeth against her nipples as he increased his suction.

"Yes, just like that, baby!" she called.

They work together to bring about her orgasm.

"Yeah—" Alice whimpered as her walls contracted and she squirted her juices onto Avery's rough palm.

"Mm, fuck, Al. You're so damn hot when you come, baby." Avery chuckled.

Trevor took one last nibble on her breast before he came up with a smile on his face. "I love you, Angel."

"I love you too." Alice leaned in and gave him another sweet kiss.

Avery moved out from behind her, and Trevor pressed her to lie down. He hovered over Alice and whispered in her ear as his thick, throbbing cock teased her entrance. "Angel, I'll make you come so hard. Are you ready for me?"

Before Alice could form a reply, Trevor buried his dick all the way inside, right up to the hilt.

"Fuck, Trevor!" Alice screamed out in pleasure as her eyes flew open to darkness.

The lamp on their nightstand switched on. Alice squinted as her eyes adjusted to the light. Avery sat up beside her with a scowl on his face. A wet spot remained on the sheets beneath her.

Alice groaned and thought to herself, "Not again—"

"Have a good dream, Alice?" Avery asked sarcastically.

That's all Avery had to say to her. Alice was aware she was fucking talking in her sleep again.

"Kill me now."

"Should I take it personally that Trevor makes such frequent appearances in your wet dreams?"

"Avery—" Alice sighed. "We've gone over this. He's not the only one that invades my dreams."

"But why, Al? I thought you were over him in that way. Just friends. Right?" Avery replied.

"Yes! Jesus—We're just friends. I'm unsure why I dream about the things I do." It was only a half-truth.

While Alice wasn't certain exactly why she kept dreaming about Avery and Trevor so often. She knew it was fucking hot, and she liked it. Her love and desire for both of them had to play at least a small part in her having so many dreams that featured them.

"I don't know, Al—"

"I love you, Avery."

"I don't doubt that. Not for a minute. But I think you're lying about your feelings for Trevor," Avery replied.

"I've never lied about how I feel about Trevor. We've had this discussion. You asked if we were just friends, and we are."

"You're right. I'm not stupid, and you have been honest about what Trevor means to you. I'm just making sure that hasn't changed and gone further."

"Do you think I'd cheat on you, Avery?" Alice asked in anger.

"Don't get mad, baby. We're just having a conversation. Let's keep it civil. All right?"

"I don't enjoy being accused of things I haven't done!"

"I'm not. Look, Trevor fucking adores you. He's in love with you. I'm not an idiot. The only reason I allow the relationship between you two is because I trust you both. I trust that you wouldn't go behind my back despite how you both feel about each other. And to be honest, when I'm away, I'm more at peace when he's looking after you. Trevor won't let anything happen to you. He'll take care of you, and he'll keep you safe. But if you ever betray my trust, all that goes away. Then you'll really have to choose between us, Alice. None of this, having me but keeping him nearby."

Tears spilled from her eyes as Alice silently cried. She never wanted to have to make that choice.

"Trevor has a girlfriend. Can we drop this? I picked up a shift for Misty tomorrow at the Moon Goddess," Alice whispered.

"I realize Trevor is seeing someone. He told me. But she isn't his girlfriend. They're just hanging out," Avery said.

"What's with you guys? It's the same thing!"

"It's not. He hasn't made a commitment to her. Does it bother you that much that he's trying to have a relationship with someone he can have?"

"No! I want Trevor to be happy. I want him to have someone of his own," but as the words left Alice's lips, the bile backed up in her throat.

It made her physically ill to imagine Trevor with someone else and she hated herself for it. Trevor deserved the happiness she wasn't free to give him.

"Alice don't cry. Come here, sweetheart." Avery pulled her into his arms.

"I'm sorry, Avery."

"No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't get so bent out of shape over a sex dream. You just sound like you're really enjoying yourself." Avery chuckled.

Alice sniffled and let out a sobbing laugh.

"It's okay, baby. Really." Avery kissed her lips and gave Alice another squeeze.

"I'm trying to be the girlfriend you deserve and I'm failing."

Avery cupped Al's face between his hands and said, "Alice, you're the best girlfriend ever. No one could be better. No one compares to you."

"I love you so much. There is never a time I want you to doubt it, even for a split second." Alice gazed into his eyes and hoped Avery could see how sincere she was.

"Never. I'll never doubt it."

They nestled back down into the mattress before Avery shut off the lights. He held Alice as she slept, and while he meant what he said, he couldn't help the jealousy he experienced when he considered how much Alice also loved Trevor.

In the morning, Alice fed Fritz and made breakfast. After she and Avery ate, she got ready for work.

"I'm heading out, Avery," Alice shouted up the stairs to him.

"Wait up!" Avery called back.

A moment later, Avery jogged down the stairs and scooped Alice up into his arm. He gave her a deep kiss before he let her go.

Alice smiled up at him and asked, "Will you be home when I get back later?"

"I'll try to be. I have to help Darius do some inventory calculations before we head off on the next supply run. Oh! Don't forget tomorrow me and the guys will be playing at that new club."

"I remember. I can't wait to fangirl in the front row." Al kissed Avery once more before she scurried out the front door.

Alice made her way to the Moon Goddess Emporium. Leo was to open the store that morning as Raven was on a retreat with her coven.

"Hey, Diva!" Leo greeted Alice as she strolled up.

"Hi!"

"I'm so happy we get to work together this morning. I have tea to spill."

"Mm, my favorite!" Alice giggled.

"Girl, you have no clue. Brandon and Jared broke up! Kevin spotted Jared in the alley behind the club, getting acquainted with some other guy's junk, and told Brandon who was inside."

"What? That's fucked up!"

"It devastated Brandon. But you know what that means?"

"Leo—" Alice rolled her eyes.

"Hey. I'm only offering my shoulder to cry on. If that leads to more, then so be it." Leo smirked.

Leo wanted to have a go at Brandon since the day he met him, but he was always in a relationship. Leo finished opening the front gates and he and Alice stepped inside. They busied themselves by restocking the shelves.

The bells on the door chimed that a customer was entering.

"I'll take care of it. Can you shelve this box of tarot cards?" Leo handed Alice the box full of tarot card decks and left to check on the customer.

Leo's eyes widened when he saw who it was.

"Trevor?" Leo looked him up and down.

Trevor had his hand clasped in the hand of an out-of-the-box redhead. Leo cocked an eyebrow. He couldn't believe Trevor would bring a girl with him to Alice's place of work when he knew how she felt about him. Leo immediately went into protective, best-friend mode.

"What are you doing here?" Leo scowled.

"Damn, Leo. What did I do?" Trevor asked in confusion.

"You realize what you're doing. Who's your little friend?" Leo nodded at the short female, still clinging to Trevor's arm.

"This is Marty. Marty, this is Leo. We came to pick up some stuff Susie needs for a new concoction she's working on. She has to work and wouldn't make it before the store closes," Trevor explained.

"Mm-hmm."

"Marty, the herbs are down that aisle. Can you look for the stuff on this list?" Trevor handed the list to the redhead.

"Sure," Marty replied and gave Trevor a peck on the cheek before she walked off.

When she was out of earshot, Trevor asked, "What's your problem, Leo?"

"How the fuck are you going to bring your side piece in here?"

"What are you talking about? How is Marty my side piece? I don't have a girlfriend."

"Really? Seems like you've been making yourself cozy with Alice for some time now. You've twisted that girl's emotions so bad; she doesn't know if she's coming or going."

"Alice is with Avery. What the fuck am I supposed to do? I love her, but I can't keep pretending that we'll ever be more than friends. I need to move on."

"Fine! But you don't have to rub her face in it. She's been in a funk the entire week because you've been blowing her off. Now you show up with the girl you've been ditching her for?" Leo scolded.

"Alice is off today. I checked. I would never bring Marty here if Alice was working. I'm not trying to hurt her."

"Well, Alice is here. She picked up a shift for Misty this morning."

"What?" Trevor asked in disbelief.

"Yup! She's shelving some inventory in the back of the store."

"Fuck!" Trevor ran his hands through his hair in frustration.

"Get Little Orphan Annie out of here before Alice sees her," Leo growled.

But before either of them could make a move, Alice sauntered in from the back with her nose in a clipboard.

"Leo, we need to create some labels and make space. We have some brand-new merch to put out." Alice finally looked up. "Trevor?" she squealed, and the biggest smile lit up her face.

Trevor's emerald eyes twinkled as he gazed at her. His heart raced the way it always did when he was near her, and he fought the urge to taste her lips.

Alice set down the clipboard before she wrapped her arms around Trevor's neck. Trevor squeezed her tight as he forgot all about Marty shopping for the herbs.

"I've missed you so much. I can't believe you came to visit me," Alice said, still in his arms.

"I missed you too, Angel," Trevor replied.

Trevor missed her so damn much it hurt. His attempt to stay away from Alice had been the hardest thing he ever had to do. He'd dialed Alice's number a thousand times, and driven past her house dozens more in the week prior.

A throat cleared behind them. "Um, Trevor? Who is that?" Marty asked as she held a basket of herbs.

Alice glanced at the redhead in confusion as her arms slid off Trevor's neck. Trevor reluctantly released her and took a step back.

"Oh, Marty. This is Angel—I mean Alice," he corrected.

"Oh, hi! I've heard a lot about you." Marty smiled and extended her hand to Alice.

Alice continued to stare in shock before Leo pinched her and caused her to snap out of her trance.

"I'm sorry. Hi! Nice to meet you, Marty. You must be Trevor's new friend. Unfortunately, he hasn't gotten around to telling us much about you." Alice glanced back at Trevor with ice in her glare.

"Yeah. Sorry about that. I didn't realize you'd be here today, or I would have let you know we were coming." Trevor stuffed his hands in his pockets and fidgeted with the change inside.

Alice forced a smile as her heart shattered in her chest. "No worries. Do you need to check out? Leo can help you. I have some things to do in the back. Nice to meet you, Marty." With that, Alice turned on her heels and made her way to the back of the store to the employees' lounge.

"Angel, wait up!" Trevor called as he followed Alice.

"Angel?" Marty repeated.

"Oh, don't mind him, honey. He always calls her that." Leo smirked, well aware of how catty he was acting.

Leo could sense Alice's pain, no thanks to that Carrot Top reject.

"Angel, please. Let me explain," Trevor said as he reached the back room.

"You don't have to explain anything. It's fine," Alice replied as she tried to keep her tears at bay.

"It's not fine because it's not fine with me. Look at me." Trevor grabbed Alice's arm to keep her from walking further away.

"What do you want from me, Trevor?"

"I could ask you the same thing."

"This needs to end. I want you to be happy. So, go. Go be happy with Marty."

"She could never make me happy. There's only one person who could do that. Believe me, I wish that wasn't the case. But I can't help what's in my heart and soul. I can't stop the pull I experience whether I'm near you or apart."

"I love Avery."

"I know you do, but you love me too. Don't deny it. I also recognize you wouldn't betray him, and my fucking sense of honor won't let me betray him either. That doesn't change how we feel. The crazy thing is, I'm not even jealous of Avery anymore. I never thought I'd be okay with another guy loving the girl I love, but there's peace with you two. It's like fate, and I sense your love for me just as strong as your love for him."

Alice scoffed. "That's insane. Why would fate throw us into this impossible situation?"

"Maybe it isn't impossible."

"Avery makes it impossible, Trevor. You know that. You might not be jealous of Avery, but he's jealous of you."

"If it were possible, Angel. What would you do?" Trevor hovered over Alice. His hands caressed her cheeks and a soft moan escaped her lips.

"It's not—"

"If it was," Trevor pressed.

"If it was—I'd want you both," Alice confessed.

Trevor's heart exploded in his chest and he leaned in. His lips inched towards hers, but before they could connect, Alice gasped and her eyes went wide.

"Max!" she screamed.

Alice's vision flashed with the sight of crushed metal and her ears filled with the sound of screeching tires. She swayed and Trevor caught her as she crumpled to her knees.

A/N: I want to tell you that I'll have an update for you next week, but I'm not sure. All I can say is I'll try. Even though I knew launching a novel would be a lot to do, it just so much more. There is so much to do that writing has been slow or not at all. If you want to know a secret, I really can't wait for it to be over so I can get back to focusing on writing. Not to mention, the times we are living in make it hard to focus at time. Your comments and votes help me to motivate and push forward.
