Warning: violence and sadness ahead.

You paused The Notebook, setting your Ben and Jerries on the coffee table. It wouldn't be Klaus yet, he would have rung to say he was on his way home.

The door swung open to reveal a sleek man wearing a pair of sunglasses. "Hello sweetheart, may I come in?"

Klaus made one rule when you bought your house together: never invite anyone in. "I'm sorry, who are you?" You asked sweetly.

"I'm am old friend of Klaus'," the man smiled. It wasn't friendly though, it was sinister and dark.

"I'm sorry but you'll have to wait until he comes home," you slowly attempted to shut the door.

"Witch, get me in here," the man snapped.

You slammed the door, running into the living room as all of the windows smashed.

Blood trailed down your cheek from a cut above your eye. Who were these people?

The phone felt heavy in your hand, dialing Klaus' number.

"Hello love-"

"Klaus, help!" You shouted as hands started to haul you up. "Klaus!" You screamed.

Someone snatched the phone from you then, taking it outside to the man. "Hello Klaus, if you ever want to see your darling human again- Actually you'll never see her again, you took my love from me, and I have no choice but to do the same."

A hard object struck the side of your head. The room swayed before you blacked out.

***

You woke with a pounding in your head and a burning pain all over your arms. The room was dark as you surveyed your surroundings. Small cuts decorated your arms.

"Ahhh I see you're awake," the same man as before stepped in front of you. "He's not here for you. I'd give up hope now because Klaus will never beg, even for you."

You tried to shuffle away from the man, a single tear falling down your cheek.

"Now, now don't cry," the vampire smirked. "This will all be over soon, once I tear you limb from limb."

Goosebumps raised on your arms as you struggled against your restraints.

He moved quickly to your neck, fangs piercing your skin. Your teeth grazed your lip as you bit back a scream. You could feel the blood leaving you, the feeling of being light headed suddenly overtaking you. This wasn't how you wanted to die. Heck, you wanted Klaus to change you. But it was too late, your eternity together would never happen. Perhaps you heard screams as he drained you. But why would anyone be screaming other than you?

The vampire pulled away from your neck then, turning to look at the doorway. "Klaus, how nice of you to join us." The man wrenched your ties off, gripping your neck as he held you in front of him. "One step and I'll break her."

"No, please," Klaus held up his hands, eyes holding yours. "This is a fight between us, Y/N has no part in this."

"My wife had no part in this but you killed her, you made me watch as you ripped her limb from limb," the man gripped your arm then, twisting it.

A dull crack echoed through the room.

You screamed.

"Please," Klaus begged. "Let Y/N go."

"Never."

You flew through the air then, smashing into the window. Shards of glass were littered around you. Large pieces pierced your legs, blood oozing through the fabric of your jeans.

You lay there, losing what little blood you had left. You were dying, and you knew it. Small tears fell down your cheeks as you realised you'd never get to do certain things: kiss Klaus, see Klaus and your friends. The list was too long for the things you would never be able to do.

It could have been seconds or hours but Klaus was suddenly by your side, pulling you into his arms. "Y/N love I'm so sorry."

"Klaus," you croaked. Somehow you felt like you were floating now, fighting to keep your eyes open.

"No, no, no Y/N," Klaus cradled you. "Don't leave me, please."

"Be good," you smiled up at him. "Promise."

"Y/N, love I promise I will always be good," Klaus whispered.

"You better," you coughed.

"Drink this." Klaus pressed his wrist to your mouth. His blood instantly rushed past your lips as you drank. But you couldn't keep your eyes open any longer.

You pulled away from his wrist then. "I love you Klaus," you whispered, eyes fluttering closed as you let the darkness consume you.

"Brother is she-" Elijah's voice echoed into the room.

"What did I do wrong?" Klaus wept.

"Brother, I don't think you made it in time," Elijah spoke softly, near you. "Listen."

Klaus pulled you closer to him, his arms encircling you. "I can't hear anything!"

"She's gone, Y/N is dead," Elijah whispered. "Her heart ceases to beat."

"She's not dead," Klaus chanted. "Y/N isn't dead."

You felt a light pressure on your forehead, then your cheeks, your eyelids. Then finally your lips. Klaus' lips lingered on yours before you were lifted. He walked slowly, clinging to you. The rain was heavy, drenching your clothes. Yet you didn't feel cold, you just felt thirsty. Really thirsty.

All too soon you were in a bed, curtains closed.

"Klaus, she'll wake up as a vampire soon enough," Elijah said.

"I didn't want that," Klaus whispered. "I never wanted her to become a monster, like me. That's all we argued about, her wanting to become a vampire to spend eternity with me. I'd have done anything to have more time with her," Klaus' voice cracked then.

You opened your eyes then. "Klaus?"

He was instantly by your side with a bag of blood. "Drink, love, it will make everything better."

The blood was rich in your mouth. A sharp pain filled your mouth, your K9s elongating. You were a vampire now.

Klaus brushed a hand down your cheek. "Y/N, I thought I'd lost you."

"No," you whispered. "I'm here."

"And you're a vampire because of me," Klaus leant forward and kissed you before pulling away. "And that's why I have to do this. I cannot be selfish with you love, I got you killed and I will never be able to forget that." Klaus gripped your face with both of his hands. "So you're going to forget you ever met me and you're going to be a good vampire who never hurts people unless you have to-" a tear fell down his cheek as he spoke "- you'll forget that you love me and you'll remember me as the original hybrid who hurts whoever he goes near. And love, you'll find another man and you'll spend eternity being happy."

"You're not a monster," you whispered before a feeling of confusion descended upon you. " What am I doing here?" You asked.

"You just stopped by to talk, we're done now," the blonde man next to you stood up.

"Who are you?" You asked, drinking in his handsome form.

"I'm Klaus," he smiled.

"I'm Y/N," you smiled back. Something in the back of your mind warned you about danger but you ignored it. You wanted to get to know this mysterious man.

"Oh, I know," Klaus nodded, taking your hand and leading you out of the house.

I hope you guys liked it! :)
