Worry
Elsie Pov
Sitting beside Y/n's hospital bed, I couldn't shake the knot of worry that twisted in my stomach. His usually vibrant face was now pale and drawn, his breathing shallow as he lay there, a victim of magical exhaustion. The events of the past few days replayed in my mind like a relentless nightmare, especially the moment when Y/n had faced the Goblins in the fortress.
Turning to Irene, who stood nearby, I felt compelled to voice my concerns. "Is he going to be okay?" I asked, my voice trembling with anxiety.
Irene's comforting hand on my shoulder offered a small measure of solace. "He'll be alright, Elsie," she assured me, her voice a steady anchor amidst my rising panic. "Y/n is resilient. With rest, he'll recover from the strain on his magic."
I nodded, trying to find comfort in her words, but the memory of Y/n's fierce determination haunted me. "Mother," I began, my voice faltering as I struggled to articulate the fear that gnawed at my insides. "When Y/n... when he faced the Goblins... he was... he was so..."
Irene's expression softened, her eyes reflecting a deep understanding of my turmoil. "It's natural to feel frightened, Elsie," she said gently. "But Y/n was defending himself and others. Sometimes, in moments of danger, we're forced to do things we never imagined." She stopped for a mere moment. "Going Rogue can happen to everyone."
"And with his issue he could endanger not just you but everyone around him."
I bit my lip, tears pricking at the corners of my eyes. "I just... I just don't want him to change," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. "I don't want him to become someone... someone unrecognizable."
Irene's hand squeezed mine in silent reassurance. "Y/n is strong," she said softly. "But he's also kind and compassionate. No matter what challenges he faces, he'll always be the person you know and love."
As I sat by Y/n's side, watching over him as he slept, I clung to Irene's words like a lifeline. Deep down, I knew she was right. With her guidance and support, Y/n would recover from this ordeal, and together, we would face whatever trials lay ahead, our bond stronger than ever before.
Turning to Irene again, who stood nearby, I couldn't hold back the flood of emotions that surged within me. "Mom," I began, my voice shaking with the weight of my confession. "When Y/n... when he faced that Goblin... I was terrified."
Irene's gaze softened with understanding as she listened to my words. "It's okay to feel frightened, Elsie," she said gently, her voice a soothing balm to my frayed nerves. "Y/n's actions were driven by Rage he couldn't stop it."
But it wasn't just fear that gripped me in that moment. It was the overwhelming sense of rage and anger that emanated from Y/n as he confronted the Goblins. It was a side of him I had never seen before, a darkness that lurked beneath the surface of his gentle exterior.
"Irene," I continued, my voice trembling with emotion. "I could feel... I could feel his anger. It was like nothing I've ever experienced before."
Irene's expression grew somber as she nodded in understanding. "Y/n's magic is a reflection of his emotions," she explained gently. "In moments of intense stress or danger, those emotions can manifest in powerful and unpredictable ways." I took his hand into my own, gently moving my thumb over it. It was cold, feeling it like this felt sureal.
The question lingered on the tip of my tongue, the uncertainty gnawing at my insides until I couldn't bear it any longer. "Irene," I began tentatively, my voice barely above a whisper. "Has... has this ever happened before? With Y/n, I mean, my memory was hazy at best of the time before I turned into this new version, it was as if parts of my memory got whiped out."
Irene's gaze softened with understanding as she met my eyes. "Yes, Elsie," she admitted, her voice tinged with a hint of sadness. "There was a time when Y/n's magic became... uncontrollable."
I leaned in, hanging onto her every word, desperate for answers. "What happened?" I asked, my voice barely a breath.
Irene took a moment to collect her thoughts before speaking, her voice tinged with the weight of memory. "It was during a training session," she began, her tone grave. "Y/n was pushing himself too hard, trying to master a particularly difficult spell. But as he struggled, his emotions got the better of him."
I listened intently as Irene recounted the events of that fateful day, her words painting a vivid picture in my mind. "Y/n's magic surged out of control, enveloping him in a whirlwind of power and chaos," she continued. "He... he lost himself in the madness, his mind consumed by a darkness I had never seen before."
My heart clenched at the thought of Y/n in such a state, lost and tormented by his own magic. "What did you do?" I asked, my voice trembling with emotion.
Irene's expression grew somber as she recalled the events that followed. "I had no choice," she admitted, her voice heavy with regret. "I had to intervene before he hurt himself or others. I... I had to knock him out, in a fight where he destroyed about half the mountain range."
The weight of her words hung heavy in the air, the gravity of the situation sinking in with each passing moment. Y/n's struggles with his magic were far more complex and dangerous than I had ever realized, and the thought of him suffering in silence filled me with a profound sense of sorrow. Was that the reason why he barely used his magic in the academy and on our missions?
I slowly touched his forehead feeling if he was too cold or too hot. I wouldn't dare to leave him alone. For in the face of darkness, our bond would be the light that guided us through the storm, illuminating the path towards a brighter tomorrow.
His breathing was now more stable than before, lost in my thoughts, the door creaked open, and the young woman entered the room. Her eyes were wide with concern as she rushed to Y/n's side, her voice trembling with emotion. "Is he okay?" she asked, her words filled with worry.
Irene stepped forward, her expression firm yet compassionate. "I'm sorry, but Y/n needs rest," she said gently, placing a reassuring hand on the girl's shoulder. "You should leave Elsie alone with him for now."
The girl's eyes flickered with uncertainty, torn between her concern for Y/n and the authority of Irene's words. With a reluctant nod, she cast one last worried glance at Y/n before quietly exiting the room. "You can stay if you want but keep silent."
As the door closed behind her, I turned to Irene, gratitude welling up within me for her protection. With Y/n resting peacefully beside me, I knew that we would face whatever challenges lay ahead, united in our determination to support him on his journey to recovery.
3rd Person
As Irene and the girl stepped outside the room, the cool air of the hallway greeted them, offering a brief respite from the tension within. The girl's eyes were filled with curiosity as she turned to Irene, her voice hesitant yet earnest.
"Are Elsie and Y/n very close?" she asked, her words tinged with a hint of longing.
Irene paused for a moment, considering her response carefully. "Yes," she replied softly, her gaze thoughtful. "They share a bond that runs deep. In many ways, Elsie is like Y/n's betrothed."
The girl's eyes widened in surprise, a pang of sadness flickering across her features. "Oh," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
Sensing the girl's unease, Irene reached out, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Is there something on your mind?" she asked gently, her eyes filled with empathy.
The girl hesitated for a moment before speaking, her voice filled with uncertainty. "I... I just... I love him," she admitted, her words coming out in a rush. "I've want to know more about him."
Irene smiled warmly and in amusement, sensing the girl's genuine curiosity. "Y/n is... he's kind and brave," she said, her voice filled with affection. "He has a heart of gold, and he would do anything to protect those he cares about."
The girl's eyes sparkled with fascination as she listened to Irene's words, a myriad of questions swirling in her mind. "What does he like to do? What are his favorite things?" she asked eagerly, her curiosity piqued.
Irene chuckled softly, delighted by the girl's enthusiasm. "Y/n enjoys reading and studying magic," she explained, her voice tinged with fondness. "He's also quite talented at baking, and he has a soft spot for animals."
As the conversation continued, Irene couldn't help but notice the wistful look in the girl's eyes, a silent longing for a connection she had yet to find. With a gentle smile, Irene tried to find a solution to help the girl in getting over him, to bridge the gap between her imagination which would only ruin her view of him. "You shouldn't try to get him, he's already taken and your love for him isn't real." I stated and she looked down.
"We should bring you to your parents."
Elsie Pov
I kept my eyes on his unconchious figure, a silent knock echoing from the door. "Hey Elsie, I've heard what happened." Elinalises tender voice stated and right at the corner of my eye I saw Rose, the Pink furball Exceed fly towards him. She stared down at him in silence before laying down and curling up right on his chest.
Her melodic purrs vibrating through his body. "He'll be alright Rose, I promise." I stated and pat her gently on the head. She couldn't utter a word but her expression told enough. She was his only friend for years probably. In her eyes I could see tears form.
I knew she felt broken and how many times did he leave Rose behind in order to protect her?
Lost in my musings, I was startled by the sudden sound of footsteps approaching. I looked up to see Elinsalise, a dear friend and confidante, entering the room with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.
"Elsie, darling," Elinsalise chimed, her voice as melodious as a songbird's. "I couldn't help but notice the way Y/n looks at you. When will you two be wed?"
My heart skipped a beat, cheeks flushing with a rosy hue as my mind raced to find a response. I fumbled for words, my thoughts a whirlwind of emotion.
"Wed?" I stammered, my voice barely a whisper. "I... I... I'm not sure..."
But Elinsalise was not one to be deterred by my flustered state. With a playful smile, she took my hand in hers, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"My dear Elsie," she said gently, her tone filled with warmth. "It's quite clear to everyone how much you mean to each other. Why delay the inevitable?"
My heart fluttered at the mention of Y/n, her thoughts consumed by visions of his warm smile and gentle touch. I felt a surge of affection welling up within me, a longing to be by his side forevermore. But we aren't even adults.
"Y/n..." I whispered, my voice filled with tenderness. "He... he's everything to me."
As the words left my lips, Elinsalise's smile widened, a knowing glimmer in her eyes. "Then perhaps it's time to embrace your destiny, my dear," she said softly, her voice a gentle reminder of the love that bloomed between us.
With a newfound sense of resolve, I gazed into the flickering flames of the nearby fireplace, my heart ablaze with the promise of a future filled with love and happiness. For in the embrace of Y/n's arms, I found solace and joy beyond measure, a love that would endure the test of time.
. . .
How long will he be staying in this state, unresponsive to everything I tried to do, from tender touches to desperate pleas for him to wake up. I even said to him I was pregnant in hopes he'd wake up. I cried my eyes out in despair. I hadn't left his side for even one moment. Irene had to bring me something to eat even.
My heart leaped with anticipation as I noticed a small twitch of his finger. Y/n stirred from his slumber. I watched with bated breath as his eyes fluttered open slowly, the warmth of his gaze washing over me like a gentle tide.
"Y/n!" I exclaimed, unable to contain my joy as I reached out to embrace him. Tears of relief welled up in my eyes as I jumped on top of him pulling him close, his familiar scent enveloping me like a comforting embrace.
"You're awake!" I whispered, my voice trembling with emotion and tears slowly dropping.
Y/n returned my embrace with equal fervor, his arms slowly wrapping around me in a tender embrace. "Elsie," he murmured, his voice filled with love and gratitude. I lifted my face up lightly to look at him. There was no doubt in me as our eyes met. I knew it was all going to be okay "I missed you." My fingers gently grazed his cheeks just as his did to me. His right hand took hold of a strand of my scarlet hair.
The weight of my worry melted away in that moment, replaced by an overwhelming flood of happiness. I buried my face in his chest, my heart overflowing with love for this incredible person who had captured my heart. I couldn't keep my emotions down anymore and I did not want to anymore. I leaned down to kiss him a gently on his lips.
Beside us, Rose, Y/n's faithful Exceed companion, fluttered her wings with excitement, her eyes shining with tears of joy. "Y/n!" she chirped, her voice filled with happiness. "I'm so glad you're awake!"
Y/n reached out, gently stroking Rose's fur as he basked in the warmth of her affection. She got right in between me and him laying on his chest. "Thank you, Rose," he said softly, his voice filled with gratitude.
As I watched the scene unfold before me, my heart swelled with love and gratitude. Y/n's awakening was a miracle, a beacon of hope in the darkness that had clouded our lives. A light rasping sound caught my attention.
Irene watched from the sidelines, a soft smile playing at her lips. With a tender expression, she approached Y/n's bedside, her eyes brimming with happiness.
"I'm glad to see you awake, Y/n," Irene said warmly, her voice filled with genuine affection patting his head. "You had us all worried there for a while."
Y/n returned Irene's smile with a grateful nod, feeling a surge of gratitude for her unwavering support. "Thank you, Irene," he said softly, his voice filled with sincerity. His mind was reeling on something
"How long was I gone?" he inquired, his voice barely above a hoarse whisper, his eyes searching ours for answers.
Irene stepped forward, her expression gentle yet solemn. "You've been in a coma for three days, Y/n," she replied, her voice filled with empathy.
Three days. The words hung in the air like a heavy fog, casting a shadow over the room. Three days of uncertainty and fear, of waiting and hoping for Y/n to wake up.
But then, a glimmer of light pierced the darkness as I spoke up, my voice filled with unwavering determination. "And I've been here the entire time," I declared, my eyes meeting his with a fierce intensity. "I didn't leave your side for a single moment."
Y/n's gaze softened as he looked at me, a wave of gratitude washing over him like a gentle tide. "Elsie," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. "Thank you."
