The biggest wonder of nature
People were buzzing around the palace with the usual pace and their given orders but an excited Heine was busting through the main doors to the palace throne room startling all of the people and guards making them look at her as she dashed into the room with lighting speed.
People wondered why the queen and the princes haven't showed up yet and only the king was sitting on his throne listening to the people and nobles of the kingdom. His mind was occupied by what happened in the morning, neither Irene nor Erza had left the bedroom as both said they felt a light pain in their abdomen and couldn't sleep, he was worried to say the least. When he wanted to see why they weren't coming. Belserion told him that they have to prepare and Dragnofs tradition only allowed women to be around at the begin but once the preparation was over the father was usually allowed into the room when the birth was happening, he thought it wasn't going to affect him much but it was making him nervous more then usual. On the outside he appeared calm and collected but on the inside he was everything else but calm. He turned his head to her as she was running up to him. "Heine why did you run like your life depends on it?" He asked and she was taking deep breaths while resting her hands on her knees. "The queen, she is going into labor and princess Erza said she's soon too." Heine yelled out.
For the split second of a moment the whole place was standing still, Y/n's heart didn't seem to beat and his breathing stopped instantly. His first child is coming into this world and he wasn't right there with her. He shoot up from the throne. "The conference is over I need to go." He yelled and took a swift pace to the palace chambers.
Heine reached him quickly. "Juliet is already making the nurses come and made one get a bowl full with hot water." Heine spoke and Y/n nodded. "I'm glad you two stay at their sides all the time Heine." He stated and could now hear the pained screams of Irene, his heart ached hearing her like this as it remembered him from the times she had an emotional breakdown after being cured.
He stopped in front of the door, hesitating to enter it as if he wasn't sure. Behind it he could hear the vivid voices of the nurses and the pained gasps of Irene, who was about to give birth. Give birth to a child of his own blood.
His gaze went down at his own hands which had the blood of many people on them, people both guilty and innocent, was he allowed to hold such an innocent being in his hands and call it his child? He shook his head, no he couldn't. He closed his eyes to think and pressed his hands onto his face. He got a life some people would murder for it but he feels like he didn't deserve it, he didn't deserve such happiness, only Irene deserves it but not him.
He turned around to leave making Heine look at him puzzled. "Your highness were are you going." She asked and he turned to look at her from the corner of his eyes. "I'm leaving I think I'm not good enough to call myself a father or be at Irene's side." He spoke and walked away.
Heine shook her head and with one swift movement she took hold of his hand yanking him towards her. "Y/n, Irene asked me to get you as fast as possible, she wants you to be with her when her child is born, she wants to see your face when you meet your newborn child." Heine spoke and looked at him with a determined face. "If I have to I'm even using force." She added glaring at him.
Y/n looked down towards the ground before turning around. "You are right, I can't disappoint her like that and miss out on this as its so important to her." He spoke and walked the few steps to the door. "Where is he?" He heard a familiar voice come through the door making him feel a light sting in his heart as it sounded like she was in agony.
He opened the door slowly stepping inside he saw his father, the doctor and a midwife who was helping Irene to ease the pain she had. Near the window he saw Erza who looked at this in uneasiness sitting at a padded chair with Rose right next to her. The doctor looked over to him and motioned him to Irene's side who had her eyes closed.
She had her hand tightly griping the sheet, her face was sweating heavily and she was taking breaths all the time to stay calm while the contractions came. She felt a warm hand touch hers and she opened her eyes in wonder and a small smile was able to escape her before she yelped again. "I'm here for you now Irene, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting." He spoke calmly and she nodded while gripping his hand tightly.
He cursed mentally at how strong her grip was, like a vice not letting go of him. He could merely talk to her and distract her from the pain while she was in labor. "It hurts." She gasped out.
Irene began to push while keeping her hand tightly on his, she was only beginning to deliver it and knew it was far from over. When she had Erza all alone she struggled far more, it was her first time then, but now with people around to assist her she knew it will be easier even if it did feel like just as hard like the first time.
Birth was never an easy task and Irene knew that very well, it wont come in one go but in several attempts of pushing and short rests had always worked, that's how it was 400 years ago and is now.
"The head is already out your grace." The midwife spoke and Irene let out a light relieved sigh as the hardest part was over.
Y/n knelt down right next to her and wiped away the sweat from her forehead. "You are doing great Irene." He spoke softly and she gave him an annoyed look. "You don't have to tell me I'm doing good Y/n but I appreciate it really." She said with a strained voice and screamed again as the contractions made her legs quiver in pain.
Erza was looking at this in silence, her mothers pained breaths made her have a cold shudder, she was scared of her own child birth, her contractions were still manageable but the worst for her was not knowing when it will start to get more unbearable and when the child is going to be born, she'd tell the doctor who was standing by in case something more serious would happen. They even called for a surgeon if something would go wrong and they had to make a cesarean cut.
Erza walked over slowly to the bed which was prepared for her. The doctor silently looked over to her and she laid down trying to forget what was coming, for a moment it worked but her mothers gasps got her back to reality.
She could see from her bed to what was happening there, the tiny baby was coming out which got Erza to look away in shame.
Irene pressed for one last time and the baby was out of her. She fell back exhausted. The midwife cut the cord and turned the baby upside down to give a little pat on its back making the baby start screaming and show that it was alive and well. The midwife began to wash the baby and Irene's privates down with lukewarm water.
She looked up to Y/n who had a pale face while seeing the newborn. He turned his attention to her and smiled calmly while moving a strand of her wet hair out of her face. "I'm so proud of you." He spoke softly and she smiled at him. His left hand reached up to her chin and he leaned down kissing her gently on the lips while tracing with his hand over her arm and grabbing her hand intertwining their fingers.
He pulled back from the kiss leaving the sweet sensation of love to her. He helped her sit up with a few cushions on her back.
Erza gave a curious look to her half sibling not knowing what it is. The midwife made the few steps to the side of the bed and placed the newborn into Irene's waiting arms. "Congratulations your grace its a boy and a healthy one for sure." She spoke as we heard its lively voice let out two more screams before calming down as it felt his mothers warmth.
Y/n reached down with his finger to the tiny hand of the newborn. "Its so tiny and yet it took so much effort to bring into this world." He spoke and Irene agreed with a light humming. "If only you'd know how much this means to me Y/n." She spoke silently and reached up with her free hand to his cheek, gently caressing it. "You gave me so much more then I'd ever think possible and this is my way of saying thank you." She spoke and then smiled down at the infant as it took hold around Y/n's finger. Tears appeared on his eyes as he couldn't hold them back any longer. "My own flesh and blood. There is no way I'd ever let anything harm you my little son or your soon to come sibling." He said and looked over to Erza who had a genuin curious face to what was going on.
Irene turned her head slowly to Erza. "Erza dear, why don't you come here and meet your half brother." She spoke tiredly and closed her eyes for a few seconds.
"So this is how a baby looks." She said lightly intrigued and scared to what is to come. Irene let out a giggle. "I promise Erza, all the wait and pain is worth the moments you will spend raising it, there is nothing more beautiful then a mother taking care of her baby under the protective eyes of her husband who is fighting the world just to see his child grow up and his wife safe from any harm, our society in Dragnof knows how important a mother and father are for the child and the whole society revolves around just that, family, no mater if you aren't blood related, growing up together is basically going to make you have the same bond like a real family." She spoke and Erza nodded. She touched the tiny baby. "Can I name him." She asked and Irene gave her a stern look. "Only if I can give your child a name too." She replied and Erza hesitated as she wanted to name it herself. She gripped the sheet tightly. "Fine you can, I want him to be named Simon after a friend of mine who died years ago." She spoke and Irene nodded. "I accept it Erza, Simon is quite the beautiful name." She said and Y/n couldn't help but agree. Irene gave one happy smile at her son before sitting up better and unlatching her strap to nurse it as it was said that a woman should feed her newborn as soon as she could.
Erza let out a pained groan and panicked lightly. "I think its coming now." She said and headed for her bed with the help of Juliet. Y/n walked up to her but Juliet took hold of his underarm. "Y/n you don't need to be here with her right now. Its her first child and it will take longer then with Irene." She spoke and Y/n gave her a glare.
"I wont leave Erza's side, she needs me by her side as support, especially now when its her first child to be born." He replied sternly and took a chair sitting next to Erza who patiently waited for the labor to become more intense.
He took hold of Erza's hand seeing her worry filled face. "D-do you think it will go well." She asked nervously.
Y/n knew of his wives fears and for Erza failure at being a mother was one of the highest. She feared to have a miscarriage in the early stages and even after, but all the talking of her mother made her calm down as everything was going normally.
It took longer then with Irene but after three hours and constant screams of pain and threats to kill Y/n for putting her in this situation Erza was right now delivering the child and pressing as hard as she could. "Come on Erza, you are the strongest of the Fairy Tail guild now show me that you can handle this pain." He said while holding her hand and she screamed up again. "I can't, its too hard." She cried out. "I'm not strong enough to birth it." She yelled and fell back on the bed.
Y/n wiped away the sweat on her temple while keeping a calm face. "Erza, you need to push as hard as you can I know you can do it, you have never let us down." He spoke and she shook her head in a no. "I can't." She whined in pain. Her grip on his hand began to shake as she became worried to lose her first child during delivery and possibly even die herself.
Tears stung her eyes as despair came over her. "Call Brandish I know she can be found somehow, maybe she's even in town." Erza spoke hastily and wiped the tears away. She looked down to her stomach. "I don't want to lose my child." She whispered fearfully.
Y/n had already been nervous from the start but he couldn't bare seeing Erza like this. He brought her close to his chest gently stroking over her cheek. "Take a few deep breaths Erza and try again, I'll even give you some of my magic if you need to, I believe in you, you can do it." He whispered sweetly to her.
His other hand rested on her belly making her smile softly. "Ok I will try one more time Y/n." She replied and began to push as hard as she possibly could. Erza groaned from the pain but could feel the baby move while the midwife was cautiously looking if everything was going smooth. "The head is out princes Erza." She spoke and Erza was a little relieved about it.
"Just a few more pushes." Y/n spoke and Erza took deep breaths while pushing and soon enough all the pressure in Erza's nether regions went away leaving her to fall down completely exhausted. She took deep breaths and gazed at Y/n happily. "See I knew you'd be able to do it." He spoke smiling at her and kissing her hand, she was too exhausted to even respond.
He leaned down placing a soft kiss on her forehead. "I'm glad its over." She spoke weakly and he smiled in silence. The midwife brought the baby back placing it in Erza's waiting arms. "Its a girl." Erza spoke in relieve and Y/n smiled down at her. "Just like I hoped for, a boy and a girl." He said and Irene walked up to Erza with her own newborn. "A girl, how about Eileen." She spoke and Erza agreed. "I think it suits her." Erza replied and the tiny newborn tugged on her dress she wore. "Its time to feed my baby." She whispered and took of her strap, bringing the newborn to her chest it found her nipple and latched onto it quickly.
A smile spread on Erza's face as it was causing her to be happy. "Y/n, mother, what will we do next?" Erza asked while waiting for her baby to be done. Irene thought for a moment. "There's the royal ceremony for the newborn of the kingdoms family which you Erza need to partake and the babies too, I've waited for it until now, so that should be on the list now." She replied and Y/n nodded. "Right the water ceremony."
