Slaying

Y/n Pov

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow across the rugged terrain of Ranoas mountains, I found myself sitting around a crackling campfire with Elsie and my mentor, Irene. My mind was still on Juliet, but it went better then I thought with her. Rose, Heine and Juliet were at the Academy, ordered by Irene to stay there for safety reasons. Tonight, we were embarking on a monster slaying mission, and the anticipation hung heavy in the air.

I watched the flames dance, their flickering light casting shadows that seemed to dance along the trees. Irene's stern expression caught my attention, and I couldn't help but wonder about her motivations for this particular mission.

"Why did you want to do this mission, Irene?" I asked, my curiosity getting the better of me.

Her gaze shifted towards me, illuminated by the fire's glow. "To slay Goblins," she replied firmly. "Monsters that have no right to live. Vermin that plague this land."

I nodded, understanding the severity of our task. The Goblins, monsters like none other, were known for their destructive nature, and it was our responsibility to protect the innocent from their wrath. In most parts of the world Goblins had been whiped out but in the vast untouched mountains they still roam around, preying on travelers and kidnaping women.

Beside me, Elsie shifted uncomfortably, her voice hesitant as she spoke up. "But aren't Goblins creatures too? Don't they have a right to live?"

Irene's gaze softened as Elsie looked up at her with a mixture of concern and curiosity. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the difficult conversation ahead.

"Elsie, I know this may be hard to hear, but Goblins are not just creatures with harmless mischief," Irene began, her voice gentle yet firm. "They are dangerous predators, driven by their depraved instincts."

Elsie's eyes widened, a flicker of unease crossing her features. "What do you mean, mother?"

Irene took a moment to gather her thoughts before continuing. "Goblins are known to murder men without mercy and to kidnap women for their sick and depraved desires," she explained, her tone grave. "They see humans as nothing more than prey to satisfy their vile urges."

Elsie's breath caught in her throat, her mind reeling with the weight of Irene's words. The idea of such brutality and cruelty left her feeling sickened and horrified.

"But why?" Elsie whispered, her voice barely audible above the crackling of the campfire. Her sword which was held in her hand trembled gently.

Irene's expression hardened, her eyes flashing with determination. "Because that is their nature, Elsie. They are creatures of darkness, consumed by their basest instincts. It is our duty to protect the innocent from their wrath."

Elsie nodded slowly, her thoughts swirling with a mixture of fear and resolve. She understood now the true danger that lay ahead, and she knew that she could not falter in the face of such evil. But still one thing weighted in her mind. Why would they only kill men and kidnap women? It didn't make sense in her mind. "Why would they kidnap us especialy?" Her words were silent.

"Elsie, it's important for you to understand the true nature of Goblins," Irene began, her voice steady yet gentle. "They are not simply mischievous creatures. They harbor darker inclinations, driven by instincts that are inherently predatory."

Elsie furrowed her brow, her curiosity piqued. "What do you mean, Irene? What instincts?"

Irene hesitated for a moment, choosing her words carefully. "Goblins have been known to commit unspeakable acts," she explained, her tone somber. "They prey on the vulnerable, particularly women, with intentions that are... sinister."

Elsie's eyes widened in comprehension, a shiver running down her spine as she grasped the implication of Irene's words. Though Irene had not explicitly mentioned it, the gravity of the situation weighed heavily upon Elsie's heart. Was that one of the reasons why Irene had insisted on them wearing a strange metal belt which covered certain areas?

"But why would they do such things?" Elsie asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Irene sighed, her expression grave. "It is in their nature, Elsie. Goblins are driven by primal urges that are beyond our understanding. They see humans as nothing more than objects to fulfill their desires of mating and slaying."

Elsie's stomach churned with a mixture of fear and revulsion. The thought of such cruelty and violence left her feeling sickened to her core. Her hand found hold in mine I gently stroked hers with my thumb.

"I understand," Elsie replied, her voice trembling slightly. "We must be vigilant in our mission to protect the innocent from such horrors."

Irene nodded in agreement, her gaze unwavering. "Indeed, Elsie. It is our duty to ensure that no one falls victim to the darkness that lurks within the hearts of creatures like Goblins."

As the flames of the campfire flickered and danced, casting eerie shadows across the forest floor, Elsie felt a newfound determination welling up within her. She would stand alongside me and Irene, ready to confront the darkness that threatened their world. And together, they would fight to ensure that justice prevailed, no matter the cost.

Irene got her attention back to the fire, slowly poking in it with a stick. To shift the burning embers around. All while Elsie was seemingly tense lost in her mind about it the prior conversation.

Elsie's voice quivered slightly as she spoke, her eyes betraying a mixture of fear and curiosity. "Irene, have you ever... seen the aftermath of a Goblin attack? Or the... the result of their... actions?"

Irene's expression softened, her gaze meeting Elsie's with understanding. She took a moment to gather her thoughts before responding, her voice measured yet compassionate.

"Yes, Elsie," Irene replied, her tone tinged with somberness. "I have witnessed the aftermath of Goblin attacks, and the devastation they leave in their wake. It is a sight that no one should have to endure."

Elsie swallowed hard, the gravity of Irene's words sinking in. "And the... the women they... take?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Irene's eyes reflected a profound sadness as she nodded. "Yes, Elsie. I have seen the pain and suffering inflicted upon those who have been taken by Goblins. It is a fate that no one deserves."

Elsie felt a lump form in her throat, her heart heavy with the weight of Irene's words. The thought of innocent women falling victim to such brutality filled her with a sense of helplessness and anger.

Irene's gaze drifted into the distance, her mind momentarily lost in memories of past encounters with the aftermath of Goblin attacks. With a heavy sigh, she began to recount a particularly haunting experience.

"There was a woman," Irene began, her voice tinged with sadness. "She had been found on the outskirts of a village, barely clinging to life. Her body bore the marks of unspeakable violence, and her spirit was shattered by the horrors she had endured, her eyes if one dared to look seemed dead inside."

Elsie listened intently, her heart aching at the thought of the woman's suffering. "What happened to her?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Irene's expression grew somber as she continued. "She spoke of darkness and despair, of creatures with eyes filled with malice. She described being taken by the Goblins, of being subjected to unspeakable acts of cruelty and violence, she endured hours of it."

Elsie's eyes widened in horror, her hands trembling slightly at the thought of the woman's ordeal. "How did she survive?" she asked, her voice barely audible.

Irene's gaze softened with empathy as she replied, "Through sheer willpower and determination. She refused to surrender to despair, clinging to the hope of one day being rescued. And when that day finally came, she found the strength to reclaim her life, despite the scars that would forever mark her."

Elsie felt a lump form in her throat, her heart heavy with the weight of Irene's words. The resilience of the woman who had survived such unimaginable horrors filled her with a profound sense of admiration and reverence.

"We cannot let their suffering be in vain," Irene said, her voice filled with conviction. "We must fight to ensure that no one else falls victim to the darkness that lurks within the hearts of creatures like Goblins."

"We have to stop them," Elsie declared, her voice filled with determination. "We have to put an end to their reign of terror, once and for all." Her emotions became uncontroleable as tears even dipped. She felt pure rage. Her body unable to contain it anymore.

Irene placed a reassuring hand on Elsie's shoulder, offering silent support. "We will, Elsie," she said, her voice firm. "Together, we will confront the darkness and bring justice to those who have suffered at the hands of Goblins."

"And Y/n, see this as your training, don't disapoint me."

As the flames of the campfire continued to dance and flicker, casting long shadows across the forest floor, Elsie felt a renewed sense of resolve burning within her. She would stand alongside  Irene and I, ready to face whatever challenges awaited them. And together, they would fight to ensure that light and justice prevailed in the face of darkness.

. . .

Standing at the edge of the cliff, I gazed down at the imposing Goblin stronghold below. The fortress loomed ominously amidst the rugged landscape, a testament to the darkness that dwelled within.

Irene's words cut through the silence, her tone commanding as she addressed me. "Y/n, it's time," she said, her eyes fixed on the fortress. "You must slay the Goblins and rid this land of their menace."

I nodded, steeling myself for the task ahead. "I understand, Irene. I'll do what needs to be done."

Beside me, Elsie stood with a mixture of fear and determination in her eyes. I could feel the weight of her gaze, her silent support urging me forward.

Irene turned to Elsie, her expression both grave and reassuring. "Elsie, I need you to stay close," she instructed, her voice firm. "If something unexpected happens, I will intervene if needed. But for now, we must trust in Y/n's abilities."

Elsie nodded, her eyes filled with unwavering trust. "I trust you, Irene."

With a final nod from Irene, I descended the cliffside, my heart pounding with anticipation. Drawing my weapon, I entered the stronghold, ready to face whatever challenges awaited me.

The sounds of battle filled the air as I confronted the Goblins, their twisted forms lunging at me with malicious intent. With each strike of my blade going through their flesh like butter, I felt a surge of determination coursing through me, driving me forward with unwavering resolve.

But then, amidst the chaos, a deafening roar echoed through the fortress, causing a chill to run down my spine. Before I could react, a massive figure emerged from the shadows - an Ogre, its massive form towering over me with an aura of primal fury.

"Y/N get down!" Irene's voice broke through the air just in time for me to realize the Oger was swinging its massive club at the side, towards me. I had no way to evade it and just braced for the impact. Yet it never hit me. I could feel the powerful gust of wind passing by. "I'll handle this." Her voice was calm and I looked up to see her figure above me.

She held the monsters club with her bare hand, something I with my training and unstable power wouldn't dare to do. I always tried to evade any incoming attack, like a coward unable to take it.

The Ogre tried to pull its Club back but she just laughed. "You will now face what true power means you deranged creature." Irene leapt into action, her movements swift and decisive as she faced the creature head-on. The monster tried to swat her with his other hand. She caught its wrist, slowly tightening her hold on it. "I'm going to rip you apart piece by piece if you survive this." She laughed sinister and ripping the whole arm of like it was nothing. The Oger let go of his weapon with a painful roar. Irene's arm started to light up with magic and in front of her formed a magic circle.

"Sage dragons flash fang." With a single powerful punch, she struck the Ogre with a force that seemed to shake the very earth beneath our feet.

The impact was devastating, sending shockwaves rippling through the fortress and causing it to crumble into rubble. In the blink of an eye, the threat of the Goblins was extinguished, their stronghold reduced to nothing more than a pile of debris.

As the dust settled and the echoes of battle faded into silence, I approached Irene with a mixture of awe and gratitude. Together, we stood amidst the ruins of the Goblin stronghold, united in our victory and ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Her gaze lingered on the entrance to the underground structure.  I could understand from her eyes what we would have to do now. "Y/n, we need to look for survivors." Her words were clear yet even she was uneasy about it. Did she know more then she wanted to say.

"Irene is there something down there not even you want to face." I asked and she made a small nod. Elsie reached us and Irene's gaze lingered on her. "Elsie I want you to stay outside, don't worry I'm not picking up any life essence from Goblins in this area anymore." Her words were reasuring as she placed a hand on Elsie's head.

"Y..yes mother." Elsie agreed hesitating to her orders.

Irene and I began our descend into the deep underground Goblin fortress, the air grew thick with a sense of foreboding. The dim torchlight flickered against the damp stone walls, casting eerie shadows that seemed to dance and writhe with every step we took.

I gripped my weapon tightly, my senses on high alert as we navigated through the labyrinthine passages. Irene moved with purpose beside me, her expression grim as she scanned our surroundings for anything which would need our attention.

Suddenly, we came upon a chilling sight - rows of chains adorned with shackles, each one empty save for the lifeless forms of women. Their pale faces bore expressions of terror, their eyes staring blankly into the abyss. Their bodies, laying on the ground, the unspeakable acts done by the Goblins were visible as if it had just been done.

Irene's voice was barely above a whisper as she spoke, her tone laced with sorrow and anger. "These poor souls," she muttered, her gaze lingering on the lifeless bodies. "Taken by the Goblins, their lives snuffed out in the most heinous of ways." She knelt down next to one trying to feel for a pulse.

My stomach churned with a mixture of horror and disgust as I took in the sight before me. These women had been subjected to unimaginable suffering, their lives stolen away by the cruelty of their captors. If I could only use my power to resurect them. I took the hand of a young girl into my hand trying to send my magic energy through her. A spell I had learned by my Dragon parent. It would be able to resurect them if I could master it. My sadness was filled by despair and rage. "Why, why can't I help people when they need my help." I shouted and my hearing could sense something. A voice calling out. Irene instinctively turned around too as if she heard something.

We quickly got forwards as we hadn't reached the deepest part yet, amidst the darkness, we stumbled upon a small chamber hidden away in the depths of the fortress. There, huddled in a corner, we found a lone figure - a young woman, probably not even an adult, with blonde hair, her form trembling with fear and exhaustion.

Irene rushed to her side, her voice filled with compassion as she gently reached out to offer comfort. "Are you alright?" she asked, her eyes filled with concern.

The girls gaze met ours, her eyes filled with a mixture of relief and anguish. "They... they took me," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "The Goblins... they defiled me, tortured me... I thought I would never escape."

I tried to prevent it but my eyes instinctively went down to what the Goblins had done. "I can heal you if you allow me." I stated trying to speak as softly as I could. She no doubt would be scared of the touch of a man from what the Goblins had done. She could only mumble out something that I couldn't understand.

My heart sank at her words, a wave of anger and sorrow washing over me. This girl had endured unimaginable suffering at the hands of her captors, her spirit broken by the horrors she had faced.

There was a whisper in the air as if the girl was chanting a mantra. "The Goblin King is still alive." She chanted under her breath. "She doesn't have any serious injuries Y/n you don't need to heal her." Irene reasured and I nodded silently.

I gripped my sword as I sensed him. "Its time to slay a Goblin!" I whispered and I sensed the last one, the king turning heel running for the exit. "Where do you think you are going?" I asked and made myself ready to run at him. "God Dragons requiem." I shouted and Irene turned around confused.

My body turned into mixture of a dark miasma and bright light as I darted at the Goblin in high speed. "DIE!" I shouted. The Goblin was just at the end of the exit. He turned around and I gripped his throat with my hand pushing us both out right in front of Elsie. He started to scream in agony and his body began to glow brighter. His hands gripped my arm or tried to scratch me. I grinned at him and let him go, falling on the ground.

He tried to run but I planted him down with my Sword piercing his leg into the dirty ground. A blood curdling scream came from him. I didn't care how much pain he had. I wanted for him to feel the agony of his victims. I planted his head into the ground by stomping on it. Grabbing his arm I twisted it around until it ripped of cleanly. "Scream more you vile creature." I roared holding it in my hand. I took the chance to ram his limb down into his mouth. His pained screams now were muffled by his owm hand. He tried to spit it out but I broke his jaw kicking him down into the ground.

There was one thing I wanted to do against this Goblin especialy. I aimed my magic right between his legs and fired down a magic blast. The pain in the Goblin was so high he screamed through his arm, a sound which would turn everyone pale and fear for their own life at what the creature must be going through.

Feeling a strange satisfaction I took the Goblin by his chest and began to pull his ripscage apart. "Y/n Stop it!" I heard a scream but I only cared to end this monsters life. He fell on the ground in two parts certainly dead and began to burn.

I looked over to Elsie who looked terrefied, an expression I had never seen in her. "Y/n. . ." Her voice was clear to me. "Snap out of it." She shouted and ran at me. I looked to my hands, they were covered in blood and she threw herself at me. "Elsie." I murmured and she tightened her hug on me, I noticed tears on her face as our eyes met.

My eyes moved to the entrance were I saw Irene and the girl. Irene had a look of shock on her. My magic finaly disapeared and Elsie let go. "You went Rogue, just like last time." Irene stated.

"Last time?"

And everything went blank in my eyes.
