Goodbye

The academies courtyard offered a tranquil escape as Elsie and I found a secluded spot to share our thoughts. The warmth of the sun painted a golden hue over the ancient stones, creating a serene atmosphere for our conversation.

"Elsie," I said, my gaze meeting hers, "have you ever considered leaving the Alvarez Empire? Venturing beyond these walls and discovering what lies beyond?"

Elsie's eyes reflected a determined glint as she nodded. "Yes, Y/n. I've often dreamed of a life beyond the academy, away from the medieval norms and expectations. A life where we can shape our destiny without constraints."

I couldn't help but resonate with her sentiments. "I feel the same way, Elsie. The academy has been a place of growth and camaraderie, but there's a whole world waiting for us outside. A world where we can be free to live on our terms."

Elsie's fingers traced patterns on the stone bench, her mind clearly lost in the possibilities of the future. "I want that too, Y/n. A life where our camaraderie flourishes without the influence of the Alvarez Empire. A life of magic and shared adventures we choose for ourselves." I noted Elsie moving her hand down to her stomach with an unusually long pause. "One in which a child can be raised with no looming danger."

I stopped for a moment at what she just had said. Was she? No way. She probably just meant it as an example.

As we shared our dreams, my hand found Elsie's, our fingers entwining in a silent pact. "I've been thinking," I admitted, "what if we leave together? Find a place where family and magic realms coexist harmoniously. A place where our camaraderie is the compass guiding our journey."

Elsie's eyes lit up with excitement, and she squeezed my hand in agreement. "I love that idea. A new beginning, a medieval adventure crafted by us. Just you, me, and the magic that binds our hearts together."

In that courtyard, a sense of liberation filled the air, promising a future where Elsie and I could venture into the unknown, shaping our destiny beyond the constraints of the Alvarez Empire.

The sun now at its highest, casting a warm glow over the courtyard as Elsie and I immersed ourselves in dreams of a future beyond the academy. As we discussed our plans, the click-clack of approaching footsteps interrupted our adventurous reverie.

Turning to the source of the sound, we found Irene, Elsie's mother and a formidable enchantress, standing there with a knowing smile. Her presence added an air of wisdom to the academies atmosphere.

"Planning your next adventure, are you?" Irene's voice held a playful undertone as she joined us on the bench.

Elsie blushed, a mix of embarrassment and excitement. "Well, we were just talking about the possibility of leaving the academy, exploring the world together."

Irene's gaze shifted between us, her eyes gleaming with a blend of maternal pride and amusement. "You two have completed your first year at the academy with flying colors. It's time to return home, with me."

Elsie and I exchanged surprised glances, the reality of graduating sinking in. I couldn't help but feel a mix of anticipation and nostalgia for the familiar yet strange surroundings of home.

Elsies mother or rather her copy, as Irene felt truly like a mother and mentor and her enchantment had proven itself, everyone thought she's a real person.

Irene, patting Elsies head who now had grown to the same height as her copy, I couldn't differ them off each other even if I tried, the only way was by their smell, one had the scent of a dragon and magic, the other of a human."You've both grown immensely," Irene continued, her tone filled with warmth. "The medieval academy has shaped you, but now it's time to embark on the next chapter. Your camaraderie will undoubtedly face new challenges, but with each other, you'll overcome them."

A sense of realization washed over us. The medieval academy had been a crucial chapter, but there were more adventures awaiting us beyond its walls.

Irene stood up, extending a hand to each of us. "Let's go home, together and fetch the others too. The magic world is vast, and there's much more to explore."

As Elsie and I took Irene's hands, a blend of excitement and gratitude filled our hearts. The medieval courtyard witnessed the beginning of a new journey for the trio, promising adventures that transcended the boundaries of the academy and embraced the vastness of the world beyond.

The academies courtyard was bustling with a mix of emotions as Irene, Elsie's mother and a master enchantress, prepared the magic mobile for their departure. In the midst of the commotion, I, along with Elsie, Heine, Juliet, and Rose, bid our farewells to Rudeus, Elinalise, and Sylphyiette.

Rudeus clapped me on the shoulder, a grin on his face. "Take care out there, my friend. May your adventures be as thrilling as the tales we've heard in class."

I reciprocated the gesture, a camaraderie forged in the crucible of the academy. "You too, Rudeus. Don't let those monsters in the ancient dungeons give you too much trouble."

Elinalise hugged Elsie tightly, her eyes shining with a mix of pride and sadness. "You've become like a sister to me, Elsie. Keep in touch, and I hope your romantic adventures are nothing short of amazing."

Elsie returned the hug, her voice tinged with a touch of melancholy. "You've been an incredible friend, Elinalise. We'll always share the bond we formed in the academy of Ranoa, who knows maybe we will see each other again next year."

Sylphyiette, formerly known as Fitz, joined the group, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "You guys better send letters from wherever you end up. I want to hear all about your marital escapades."

Heine and Juliet exchanged heartfelt goodbyes with their respective friends, Zanoba crying tears being separated by Juliet. the academy felt like a second home fostering connections that would endure even beyond its stone walls.

As the farewells concluded, Irene signaled that the magic mobile was ready. The group gathered around the magic vehicle, ready to embark on the next chapter of our journey.

"Goodbye, everyone! We'll miss you!" Rose called out, waving her furry paw.

With a final round of waves and well-wishes, we boarded the magic mobile. Irene activated the enchantments, and the medieval courtyard slowly faded from view as we left the academy behind, the anticipation of new adventures shimmering in the air.

Elsie still could not fix her issue with the dragon slaying magic, perhaps the enchantment she used had an error in it, that would only come to light once we saw the circle on the ground she had created.

The interior of the magic mobile hummed with a gentle vibration as I, along with Elsie, Irene, Heine, Rose, and Juliet, settled into the plush seats for the journey back home to the empire of Alvarez. The mountain landscape rolled by outside the enchanted carriages windows, and the atmosphere inside the vehicle was filled with a mix of nostalgia and excitement.

"So," I began, breaking the comfortable silence, "let's recap everything that happened at the academy. The medieval adventures, the friendships we made, and maybe even the less-than-dignified escapades of us."

Elsie chuckled, her eyes sparkling with mirth. "Oh, you mean like Heine and Juliet's... activities?"

Heine and Juliet exchanged embarrassed glances before bursting into laughter. "Well, medieval dungeons can be quite romantic," Juliet admitted with a mischievous grin. Her escapaed was having had kissed Zanoba.

"And we should not forget that moment in the tavern, the two of you, Heine and Juliet were drunk and kissed each other." Elsie stated bursting out laughing at the two now dead from shame.

Irene, who had been focused on navigating the magical vehicle, joined the conversation with a knowing smile. "Ah, the bonds forged in the medieval crucible. It seems like you all had quite the experience."

Heine blushed but continued the lighthearted banter. "Yes, well, it was an adventure, to say the least."

Rose, the Exceed cat, chimed in with a playful expression. "I think the magic academy provided us with memories and tales that will last a lifetime."

As the conversation continued, the group delved into the details of their medieval experiences, sharing stories of triumphs, challenges, and the enduring friendships formed within the stone walls of the academy. The magical vehicle carried us through the medieval landscape, creating a cocoon of camaraderie that transcended the passing scenery.

With each passing mile, the medieval tales of the academy unfolded in animated discussions, creating a tapestry of memories that would forever be etched in our hearts. The journey back home became not just a physical distance but a reflective voyage through the shared experiences that had shaped us during our time at the medieval academy.

. . .

The magic mobile ascended the winding path up the mountain, guided by Irene's skilled enchantments. The landscape below gradually gave way to a breathtaking view, and as we reached the summit, Irene's home came into sight.

Perched on the mountain's side near a lake, Irene's residence was a majestic structure that blended seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The rustic architecture featured towers adorned with enchanting runes, and the entire estate seemed to emanate an aura of magic.

The magic mobile settled into a designated parking area, and as the doors opened, we stepped out onto a stone courtyard. The air was crisp, and the panoramic view showcased a sprawling landscape below, a testament to the enchanting beauty of Irene's mountain abode. In the distance the capital of Alvarez was barely visible.

Irene gestured towards the entrance, her eyes filled with warmth. "Welcome back home. I hope you find the natural tranquility here to your liking."

I marveled at the medieval architecture, every time I saw it I was taken ina awe. "It's breathtaking, Irene. Your home is like something out of a fairy tale."

Irene smiled graciously. "Magic has a way of blending with the medieval aesthetics, creating a haven that reflects the enchantments of the world. Please, make yourselves comfortable."

As we entered Irene's home, the medieval interior revealed a seamless blend of mystical artifacts and cozy furnishings. The atmosphere exuded a sense of peace, inviting us to explore the various chambers that held tales of magical wonders.

Elsie whispered to me, "Can you believe we're here again? It's like stepping into a dream."

I nodded in agreement, taking in the classic tapestries adorning the walls and the soft glow of enchanting lights. Irene led us through the medieval halls, sharing stories of her own adventures and the mystical artifacts she had collected over the years. It would have been great if it truly was not Irene as a copy but her actual mother.

As the day unfolded in Irene's mountain retreat, the sense of magic and camaraderie filled the air. Elsie looked at me with eyes filled of sadness before her gaze moved over to Irene. Instinctively I knew what she had to do.

I gently took her hand into mine. "You don't have to deactivate the enchantment if you don't want." I whispered as her eyes showed the pain of separation. "But I have to, our mission is over and I can't keep chasing something that wasn't meant to be." Her words were filled with pain as she turned around towards the copy of her which was a reflection of her mother too.

Elsie's eyes shimmered with unshed tears as she approached the enchantment. Irene, her mother, wore a gentle smile but couldn't hide the sadness in her gaze. I stood by Elsie's side, offering silent support during this emotional moment.

"I love you, Elsie," Irene said, her voice carrying the weight of a thousand emotions. "You are my daughter, and no distance or enchantment can change that. But it's time for me to return to were I belong in this world and for you to embrace the magical adventures that await you."

Elsie nodded, her tears flowing freely now. "I love you too, Mom. This journey has been incredible, and I'll carry the memories of our time together in my heart forever."

Irene stepped forward, embracing Elsie with a motherly warmth. "You have grown into a formidable enchantress, my dear. The magic academy has witnessed your strength and resilience. Now, go and make your mark on the world. Remember that this enchanted mountain will always be a haven for you."

As Elsie took a deep breath, she began the process of deactivating the enchantment. The medieval surroundings seemed to shimmer for a moment, and a soft, golden light enveloped her. Irene held onto her daughter, whispering words of love and encouragement as the enchantment gradually released its hold.

And then, with a final, tearful gaze, Irene, the copy disappeared from the mountain retreat, leaving behind the echoes of her heartfelt farewell. The golden light faded, and the enchanted air returned to its tranquil state, carrying the lingering essence of a family bond that transcended time and space.

I stood beside Elsie, offering a silent presence in the wake of the copies departure. The magical mountain stood tall, witnessing the passage of emotions.

Elsie's sobs became heavier and I got right beside her. Offering my shoulder, which she gladly took. It took a moment for her to finaly stop crying and regain some sense of herself. "So what now?" I asked and she gave me a warm smile.

"Well, I would have to completely turn myself back into the adult version I was before it." She replied and I raised an eyebrow sensing something she purpously kept away. "And?" I asked pressing on it which she replied with a little mischievious gigle. "I don't want to." She stated and I deadpaned.

"Irene, we need to follow the protocol, every transformation or thing we did for or during this mission has to be turned back or erased from our memory." I protested and she gave me a mocking grin. "Screw the protocol." She shouted and ran upstairs.

Just as she reached the top she turned around with a mocking smirk. "Besides you can't undo what you did to me."

Did she just?

I looked over to Heine and Juliet who just had amusing stares on them. "Go after her." Juliet shouted.

I ran upstairs and found her standing at the door in which everything had started. "So that was the issue." She murmured and pointed to a small mistake in the circle. "I screwed up the enchantment." She stated and then turned to me.

"We've got a few choices Y/n." She took my hand into hers. "And they are?" I asked silently. The air around us getting thicker. "I'm trying to get an enchantment to work which fixes my dragon slayer problem or I'm staying this way with no dragon powers." She replied and her foot destroyed the magic circle by deleting a line. "The third option doesn't exist anymore."

"And what about our memories, you know it wont be the same as before, we aren't just master and student anymore if it stays like this." I replied and she shrugged seemingly unbothered. "It doesn't bother me at all, we only need to apear formal, which wouldn't be too hard I suppose."

Her words sounded genuine and happy. "And I suppose you don't want to lose all those precious memories in the academy, the friends we made and all the tings that happened between . . . us."

She was right about that. A part of me didn't want to lose the memories we had made along the journey, but the other side wanted to stay true to the rules. "Neither do I want that." I replied and she let out a victorious giggle. "And how am I supposed to call you now?"

"However you want as long as it is formal." She replied and I smiled laying her head on my chest.

"As you wish Elsie Irene Eleanor Dragnof." I giggled and she let out a pout.

"Do you want to have one last night together? before we turn to a formal master student relationship?" She asked and pressed her hand against my chest. Its warmth radiating through me.

I pulled out a coin, its insignias catching the soft sunlight. The decision to be made seemed too significant for a mere flip of the coin, yet there was a certain simplicity in letting fate guide our next step.

"Irene" I said, holding the coin between us, "this coin toss won't dictate our future. It's a symbol, a gesture to acknowledge the unknown. If it lands heads, we do. If it lands tails, we wait. But remember, the journey we've shared will forever be a part of us."

Elsie nodded, her gaze fixed on the coin. "I understand, Y/n. Let fate decide, but no matter what, our time together has been precious, and I'll cherish every moment."

I tossed the coin into the breeze, watching as it somersaulted in the air. The dim sunlight caught its gleam before it began its descent. As the coin twirled, time seemed to stand still, and the outcome remained a mystery.

And then, with a soft thud, the coin landed on the ground, leaving the decision unspoken, hanging in the air like a medieval tale with an open-ended conclusion. Elsie and I shared a meaningful look, understanding that the journey ahead would unfold with the magic of uncertainty, guided by the enchantments of our own hearts.
