A kings work
Mt.Dragnof was the highest mountain in the whole kingdom sitting at six thousand meters above sea level only Mt.Hakobe was slightly higher. "I'm glad this mountain is not as snowy as the one in Fiore." Erza said and looked to her right to see her baby draped in a cozy blanket. The build in anti motion sickness lacrima in the carriage was working as neither Irene, Erza nor Y/n were having motion sickness. "How long will we take to reach the lake Y/n I hope it wont be too long." Irene asked and he shrugged. "I don't really know but I think that Belserion said it should be roughly three hours by carriage and he's leading the carriage on a horse." Y/n replied and Irene looked out the window while she was nursing her baby. "Its beautiful as ever." She whispered as she saw the main captial of Dragnof with the palace at the top. Y/n was looking at both his babies with a wide smile while quietly sitting at his seat.
"You want to hold your son Y/n?" Irene asked and the male nodded slowly, he hesitated for a moment as he always thought he'd break the newborn. Irene placed it carefully in his arms making him hold his child. "Be careful dear." Irene spoke tenderly and Erza watched him too. Y/n smiled and a felt a strong urge to protect his child for no reason. "My own son, I'll protect you and your sister to the best I can making sure the two of you grow up with the best possible future, I'll be bringing peace to our kingdom which is destroyed by people with ill intent and their believe that our natural roles are bad when they are the very essence of our being." He spoke and then the baby grabbed his thump looking right at him. The boy had his mothers hair but Y/n's ice blue eyes.
He kept this pose staring down at his child for several seconds until a second baby decided it had not gotten enough attention from her father and began to cry. Erza picked her up and rocked the baby side to side gently. "Eileen are you seriously crying because your brother was held." She asked and the baby kept crying making Erza have a frown on her face. "She's seriously envious of him." She muttered and Irene laughed. "Well she comes after you Erza, I saw your envy whenever one of the other women in the palace spoke with Y/n." She stated and Erza looked away embarrassed.
Erza gave him a pleading look while Irene took her son back, making Erza be able to lay her first born into her husbands arms. The baby immediately recognized her fathers warmth and opened its eyes while still crying, it took a few seconds until the toddler stopped and kept staring at him. "Hey Eileen its me your papa." He spoke softly and the child kept looking while he went close with his finger to her little hand.
The baby took hold of his finger and smiled at him making everyone inside look at it in awe.
. . .
Y/n Pov
A warm breeze made the flowers around me bend towards a crystal clear lake in front. To my left and right both Erza and Irene wore white gowns as it was tradition, they held their babies tightly to their chests while walking to the lake. No one else but us was here as this is a purely private ceremony for the royal family. I took both the babies in my arms while observing my wives.
Irene took hold of Erza's right hand gently with her right and the left enclosed it. She took a steady breath while looking into her daughters eyes, I knew she had to recite what was said in the ceremony out of her memory. "I Irene L Dragnof mother to this child will forever vow to protect and care for my child born of my blood until the day my last breath fades from my lips, I promise to respect her choices and guide her through her mistakes as best as I can without directly influencing her independence." Irene stated and placed her hand on Erza's head, slowly pushing her down into the lukewarm water of the lake. She got back up and Irene smiled taking her into a hug slowly. "I name you Erza and welcome you into my life beloved daughter."
I noticed Erza tear up lightly as she was finally a full heir to Dragnof's throne and not just related to it.
Both walked out slowly and took their children into their arms smiling at the small bundles of joy. I was taken by the hands by Erza and Irene pulling me to the lake. "You are part of the ceremony Y/n." Irene spoke gently and stopped as we were hip deep in the water.
I took one last glance to the babies and gently touched both their tiny hands with my fingers. "I Y/n Dragnof father to both babies made of my being will forever vow to protect and teach my children the values of life and how to face each hardship by being the strong role model to them, I will not allow bad behavior in their life and will support each and every decision, I will find the most suitable husband to my daughter and future wife to my son." I stated and lowered the babies right above the water level. Irene, Erza and I began to slowly ladle the warm water over their tiny heads. "I will name you Eileen L Dragnof and Simon Dragnof, I welcome you both into my life and the royal family of Dragnof." I stated with a smile on my lips.
Irene and Erza lifted the babies out of the water and headed towards the changing clothes we had in the carriage. "You've made Erza and me into the happiest woman by gifting us the wonder of life Y/n." Irene stated in joy.
I placed my arms around their shoulders pulling them towards me. "Lets build a kingdom which will never fall to weakness, a creed by what everyone should live and help each other out, our kingdom shall become the first of its kind to value both men and women's hard earned work, no one is lesser then any other person and no one is equal to each other but should be treated with equal respect and good behavior no mater the choices you do, but do not be mad when the consequences of your actions hit." I stated and Erza nodded. "A true life is one where we are all appreciated for what we do, no mater our past but I do agree, consequences are always coming good or bad we will never know until they are here." She calmly said and cooed at her baby.
. . .
7 years have passed since the day the royal family came back to the Dragnof kingdom. 7 years of joy and economical success lifting the once destroyed kingdom back to the wealth it once had, meaning it possessed wealth well beyond some other kingdoms only Fiore had the same amount of wealth but times sometimes become rough, kingdoms which eagerly wanted to expand their wealth and borders had laid their greedy hands on Dragnof, planning a war in a never to be seen scale.
Everyone in Dragnof was waiting for an update on the front, the war had been going on for a year and the king had only returned twice during an armistice which was broken by the enemies. The war was against Pergrande, a powerful kingdom with well over 100 million people but a war against a kingdom as experienced in full on total war and an armory filled with the deadliest weapons could only mean Dragnof was going to be victorious, but the calculations were vague at best quality couldn't always beat quantity so several thousand had died in the battles leaving woman and children without husbands and fathers.
Two six year old children ran around the palace when the loud and uneven ringing of bells was heard through the whole city. They both sprinted through the halls busting through the doors and reaching the balcony which had a view over the whole city. "I know he's here." The young boy yelled and the girl nodded swiftly. "Papa is coming back and I know he'll stay as he won. She chimed in and both children were suddenly grabbed by two hands each. "Lets wait together shall we." Irene stated and smiled towards the gate lifting her son up to see over the railing and sat him down.
The gate opened and slowly several horses came riding through on its front was no one else then the king, his silver battle worn armor had no shine on it anymore it was partially cracked and dirty. His helmet broken into two from an axe strike. His own words had been heard often through the town, a knight in shining armor is a knight who never saw combat.
The children upon realizing who came screamed in excitement running back into the castle, leaving their mothers alone. "Its never dull without them is it." Erza spoke smiling and Irene let out a giggle. "Well what do you say, they take after us." She replied and walked slowly towards the room again.
Reaching downstairs they opened the doors and they were now seeing the entire army which had been send out. At the gate Y/n was standing his right hand slowly raised upwards while a calm look was on his face. "We won against Pergrande!" He yelled and all the people began to cheer in excitement and Joy while he began to ride the horse slowly to the palace. His face showed happiness but behind that smile was a something else, the last battle had been brutal, both armies gave it their all and hundreds died from the Dragnof kingdom, but those men took several thousand of the enemies with them.
He reached the palace and jumped down of the horse seeing his family wait at the door he threw his broken helmet down and knelt on one knee as he was tackled by his two children screaming happily. He smiled and dropped tears of joy, he never knew if he was going to come back as the most dangerous battles had been fought by him taking on several strong mages and rescuing his soldiers of near death when he could do it, sadly he wasn't able to get everyone back. Every soldier who fought along side him knew they might not come back. It was worth it in the end as less had died then anticipated.
"I'm back my beloved family." He shakily replied. The kids couldn't help but hug him tightly before letting go. "I can't wait to show you how well I got with my swords." Eileen exclaimed and Simon nodded. "I want to show you how my enchanting magic has become better." He added and Y/n nodded. "I can't wait for it." He replied before looking up to his wives. Irene pulled him up by gently cupping his cheeks. "Welcome back my love." She spoke sweetly and Erza walked up. She held his hand while both of them leaned in kissing his cheeks at the same time. "I'm glad you are back to your growing family." Erza whispered and laid her hand on her medium sized bump. He smiled down happily and kissed her before also kissing Irene who had a bump too. "I'm not going anywhere again from what I know." He stated and a pink furball slammed into his chest. "Rose I'm so happy you are well." He stated and she gave him a glare. "Why do you always leave me behind when a war happens." She yelled and he gave her a solemn look. "I don't want to lose you." He replied and Rose nodded. "I understand."
Y/n turned to the city and waved at the people, his whole family began to wave and he knew everything was going to be good from now on as the rest of the dragons walked up behind them.
The End
Merry Christmas to everyone and this is the end of this story, I might come back some day to write more in this story but for now its the end. Every story must come to an end be it good or bad, people enjoyed to read it and I did writing it. I do have other stories lined up to publish which have Irene and Erza in them, my two most liked characters in Fairy Tail, not for the most obvious reason but for what their history is, a mother giving away her daughter to protect her of herself instead of possibly taking her over or even just kill her, I can't help but wanting to help Irene become human again if it would be possible to get into an anime world. I know it is not possible. Her character is basically the most important of the Fairy Tail story as without her we wouldn't have Dragon slayers, that means no Nalu and neither Gale or Jerza as Erza wouldn't be born, I'm not sure about Gruvia tough.
AND ATTENTION SPOILER: The 100 years quest for who hasn't read it basically confirmed Irene to come back.
