Later that day Valerie avoided her mother not because of some grudge but because she can't trust the instincts of her beast. She knew her mother is worried for her and wants best for her. Because like most of the female population in the world she too thinks that a woman needs a man to be happy. Her mother was a firm believer of the fairy tales of princesses where princes come and save the day riding the horse acting as knight in shining armour. But she was the knight, she was the hero that she needed in her life. She was the Alpha. She didn't need the saving.

Her mother was very disappointed when she found out that in her teens Valerie turned out to be the though tom boyish sort of girl. But, due to the moon goddess's grace her mother's wish of a girly girl was granted when her youngest daughter Genesis turned out to be the second version of Barbie.

The giggling of Genesis brought Valerie out of her reverie. She contorted her eyebrows together in confusion and followed the source of voice. When she reached there, she immediately closed her eyes and cringed. "Oh God! My eyes! My poor innocent eyes. Both of you maintain a distance of three steps now."

The shuffling of feet was heard, she opened her eyes and looked murderously towards Jason and Genesis who were now looking down sheepishly. Genesis was blushing furiously and Jason was rocking on his feet awkwardly.

"What have I told you both about openly displaying your affection in the halls of my pack house? I warned you Jason that I will kick you out of the pack house if I found you snogging Genesis in the halls" Valerie roared.

"But she is my mate, alpha." Jason whined.

Valerie scoffed. "And she happens to be my sister as well. I don't want you to eat her mouth at every nook and corner of this pack house."

"Alpha, with due respect I am informing you this, mates crave physical assurances now and then. She was gone for three weeks and my wolf was getting restless. I haven't even marked her yet. Clearly you can understand."

Valerie who was looking defeated towards both sighed and said in a meek voice. "Make sure I am out of the pack house or far away from you both."

They both nodded and smiled. She was about to leave them alone when she stopped and looked back and said. "Make sure Kevin and Charles don't find out that Genesis has lost her virginity to you. Or else alpha or not I won't be able to save you Jason. And I want my beta alive."

Jason gulped while Genesis turned crimson. Smiling Valerie left them and went upstairs where she found an amused Cayden smiling standing besides the balustrade.

"What is so funny?" She asked.

"I can see you are not against the mate stuff in general." He replied.

"Why would I be? That is the best thing that can happen with anyone in a life time. And that is the only reason why I still haven't rejected you."

Cayden growled and in the next moment she was thrown against a wall besides the rooms with him hovering over her. She was entrapped by the wall and his arms "Don't you dare say something like that. Ever." He growled.

Valerie gulped seeing the dangerous glint in the eyes of his beast and tried to loosen out of his hold but Cayden closed the remaining distance by moving his body towards her to trap her more. Now his trunk was brushing her bust and Cayden loved the feel of her softness. Valerie gasped at the sensation but that was a mistake because to his wolf it was a voice of pleasure by his mate and the next moment his lips descended on hers and they were kissing in passion.

Soon Valerie came to her senses and she pushed Cayden back. He reluctantly let her go. They were both panting and tried to gain their senses back.

Valerie cleared her throat and tried to divert his attention by asking. "Have you heard from anyone in your pack?"

Cayden tried to clear the lust in his eyes and spoke. "Yes. Er.. ahem... yes. They are arriving soon. In fact they will reach at midnight if I am not wrong. But my family will not accompany them. They will be here after few days."

Valerie nodded. When she looked towards him she found him looking towards her lips so she turned her back towards him and said. "I think you should go and see how the preparations for your pack are going."

Cayden sighed. He placed a hand on her shoulder to gain her attention and uttered. "Valerie. You know what you are doing right?"

Confused, Valerie turned and looked towards him. Cayden huffed and pulled her close to him by holding her shoulders and continued speaking. "You are neither accepting me nor rejecting me. I know your pack needs you but what about me and my pack. They need a Luna and I need a heir. You are giving a blind eye to this matter."

Valerie shrugged his hands and maintained some distance between them. She squared her shoulders and spoke authoritatively. "Alpha Cayden Smith, if your pack needs a luna, then my pack needs an alpha too. I am and will be their alpha first. I will not abandon them. In time we will find a solution, till then I suggest you concentrate on settling your pack."

Cayden groaned at her stubbornness, he would never try to sabotage her position but he needs his mate by his side too. Frustrated he ran his hands in his hair. Valerie looked in pity towards him. She never wanted her mate to suffer like this. But for her, the pack will always be a top priority and she will never abandon them. Suddenly she looked determined and with assurance she spoke his name. Cayden who was striding in frustration looked towards her.

"Cayden, I know the burden that I am putting on you. If.. ahem.. If you want you can find someone else to rule beside you." But she could not finish her sentence as Cayden suddenly went rigid and growled. "Are you enunciating something? Do you want me to reject you?"

"No." Valerie sort of shouted. She composed herself and while clearing her throat she said. "No, I mean kind of yes." She sighed in frustration. "What I meant was that you can find a nice docile girl like you want or need and can date her. If everything turned out to be good you can settle with her."

Cayden was gnashing his teeth infuriated. "Do you know the things you are implying held dire consequences Valerie?" He closed the distance between them and pulled Valerie towards him holding her shoulders with brutal force. He gritted his teeth and spoke. "Do you have any idea what it will do to your wolf or to you?" He scoffed and jerked her. "Of course you don't. Never I mean it, never ever think such atrocious things again. I am warning you now. With time we will find out a solution. I haven't marked you yet that shows I have self control and patience. But don't test it."

Valerie who was getting mesmerized by the dominant power exhibiting by her mate was getting aroused. The smell of her arousal hit him hard and he smiled.

"I see you find my dominance worthy, my sweet alpha." He loosened his hold on her and brushed his fingers on her cheeks. Valerie gasped at the tender touch of her mate and sighed in contentment. Cayden closed the distance by putting his lips on hers and giving her a soft, passionate kiss. He left her lips only to place kisses in the arch of her neck and her jaw.

Valerie who was enthralled and spell bounded in passion moved her limp arms and encircled Cayden's shoulders and squeezed them. Cayden was enjoying the attention given by her. He squeezed her waist causing Valerie to gasp. Hearing the pleasurable sound he took her lips in other breath taking kiss. Blinded by passion Cayden left her lips and went for her neck once again. His canines were getting elongated and in the heat of moment he bit Valerie's neck slightly.

Valerie moaned and tightens her hold on him and Cayden liking her responsiveness bit her bit harsh this time causing Valerie to gasp and breaking her trance. With so much strength she pushed him back and said frantically. "You could have marked me."

Cayden didn't seem to bother and replied with a smirk. "I would have marked what's mine"

To this Valerie snarled. "Marked what's yours? I haven't consented being marked."

"You were very consensual few moments ago." Cayden countered back.

Valerie with chin held high replied. "A mistake that will not happen again."

"A mistake?" Cayden snarled. "You call the passion between two mates a mistake."

"Please Cayden, not again" She rubbed her neck in dejection that caused Cayden to soften. He knew how difficult it is for her to fight the unavoidable. He moved close to Valerie pulled her towards him softly. When Valerie looked towards him, he placed a sweet kiss on her forehead and said. "I understand. We will figure it out. Go do your duties. I have to talk with my beta too."

Valerie nodded and left Cayden standing in the vestibule outside the rooms upstairs . He sighed and left for his room. Once in his room, he called his beta who answered the phone on the first ring.

"Yes Alpha." He asked.

"I need your advice Ryder" he said.

"You need my advice alpha!" He asked surprised. Ryder was amazed because whenever his alpha was in doubt, he always consulted his parents but Ryder composed himself and said. "Sure how can I help you?"

"Are you driving?" Cayden asked.

"No alpha" He replied. "It's Scarlet behind the wheel"

Scarlet was a red headed, ferocious and passionately loyal girl who was warrior head of Mystic moon pack. Satisfied Cayden narrated the conversation between himself and Valerie. Ryder looked towards Scarlet who was busy driving and smirked. "I think I have a solution Alpha."
