Echoes of the Past
Aryaman's eyes snapped open, his heart racing as he sat up on his bed. He was drenched in sweat, his sheets soaked through.
It was just a dream, he told himself. But the image of Maya's face lingered in his mind, her eyes red as blood, bluish lips, skin gray and decaying.
In the dream, Aryaman had been walking in the warehouse, his shoes squeaking on the wet floor.
He had heard a shout of his wife.
He had spun around , the voice had seemed to come all around him echoing off the warehouse.
"Arya....help me...."her voice barely audible.
He had tried to reach her, but she had vanished into the thin air.
He had been left standing alone in the warehouse, the only sound
the echo of Maya's plea for help.
Aryaman threw off the covers and got out of his bed his heart still racing. He knew he would never be able to shake off this memory.
He walked over to the window and looked out. The city quiet, the only sound is the chirping of the birds.
His eyes felt dry and gritty, a constant reminder of his failure.
He took a deep breathe and let it out slowly. He knew he had to move forward, no matter what and how hard it was.
He wouldn't rest until he had avenged Maya's death. The thought gave him a purpose,a sense of direction. He knew he had a long and difficult road ahead him, but he was ready.
He was ready to face any challenges lay ahead, ready to do whatever it took to bring justice.
And so, Aryaman stood at the window, his eyes fixed. He was a man on a mission, driven by his desire for justice and his need for revenge.
____________________________
Aryaman stood in front of the mirror, his eyes gazing at the reflection staring back at him. He hadn't shaved for weeks and his hair was uneven, made him look like a vagabond.
But it was the eyes that told the real story- sunken, haunted and filled with a deep sadness.
But he pushed the feelings aside, knowing that he couldn't afford to get caught up in his emotions. Not now, when was finally ready to take action.
Aryaman took a deep breath and began to get ready. He shaved, showered and dressed in formals.
He turned away from the mirror and walked over the table, where a framed picture of him and Maya sat. They were smiling, happy and in love. Aryaman's eyes lingered on the photo and a small smile adorned his face.
He finished up and all set to begin his new day in the office after a long hiatus.
He reached his office and directly went to his cabin. As he sat there was a knock at the door, Aryaman opened it to find his teammates, Raghav and Pia standing in the hallway.
"Aryaman, we are glad to see you're back", Raghav said, his voice sincere.
Aryaman nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards his teammates. They had stood by him even when he had given uo on himself.
"Thanks, guys," he said. "I'm ready to do this".
Pia smiled, her eyes shining with determination. "We're with you, Aryaman. All the way".
Aryaman nodded, a feeling of sense of resolve wash over him.
He was ready to make the criminals pay for their crimes.
"Let's do this," he said, his voice firm.
And with that, the team had set off on their mission, ready to face whatever lay ahead.
