Chapter Three

Jordan's P.O.V
Did I hear that right? "Hold up, what did you say?" Natalie blushed and nodded, hiding her face in her hands. "I said, I met him. I met my soulmate. That's where I was when you were looking for me."

"B-but I thought you said you-" "Alright. Sit down and I'll tell you the story." "What am I, your child?" "Do you want to hear the story or not, Jordan?" I sighed and sat down. "Okay. How'd you meet your soulmate, Natalie?"

She sat down, uncovering her face, and sighed. "So, I finished gathering the copper, paid for it, and was waiting for you to come back, right? Well, I heard shouting and saw that someone was being chased by a patrol of Fallen Devils. My head told me to leave it, but my heart told me to save them. For some reason, I felt like I had to save them. So...so I did. I ran out, grabbed them, and we started running through the market."

I nodded slowly. "Mm-hm. I assume you got away, so what happened after you escaped?" "Well, we tried to catch our breath, firstly. Then he thanked me, and all that jazz. Then I asked if he'd met his soulmate. And he said no, and held up the finger that had his thread on it. I saw his red thread, Jordan. So I-"

"Hold on, hold on. You saw his thread? That's impossible." She shook her head. "No, it's not. You can see who's at the end of your thread. And I guess he's at the end of mine. I grabbed his hand to test it. And...our thread wrapped around us and pressed us together."

My eyes widened. "That's definitely the soulmate test..." She nodded. "It was during this time that I managed to get a good look at him." "You didn't look at him before?" "He had a cloak with a hood on. It was hard to see his face." "Ah. What does he look like?"

"He has tan-colored skin, and brown hair. His hair is styled kinda like Noah's, but it's more...wild, I guess. And his eyes..." She smiled, and I nudged her. "His eyes are pretty, aren't they?" "Oh, you don't even know. You'd have to see them to understand. His eyes are a really nice yellow color." "Oooh! How nice! What's his name?" "Lucas..."

She seemed to be spaced out, just staring off. I grinned and nudged her again. "Aww, you're in love!" She snapped out of her daze and pulled her hood back up. "Shush. We need to get back to the forge..." Something seemed to click in her mind, and she faced me. "Hold on, how did you know what the soulmate test was like?"

Natalie's P.O.V
That got a reaction out of him. Jordan blushed and looked away. "I-I don't know what you're talking about." "But you do. I told you what I did, and you said, 'That's definitely the soulmate test.' How would you know what that's like?" "W-we're talking about you, not me!"

"Oh, but see, my good friend, now you've shifted the conversation to you." Jordan lowered his voice to a whisper, still flustered. "C-can we talk about this later?" I arched an eyebrow, but nodded anyway. "Yeah. C'mon. Let's get going." We stood up and began walking the rest of the way to the forge.

"NATALIE! JORDAN!" We looked ahead of us to see our boss and Noah heading towards us. We stopped as they ran towards us. The boss shot us both a glare. "You were supposed to be back half an hour ago! Where were you?!" Jordan rolled his eyes. "Sir, we were gone for a normal time." "Answer the dang question!"

Noah shook his head. "Don't get mad at them, sir. I'm sure Natalie and Jordan have good reason for being late." I nodded. "We got kinda caught up in the crowds. We lost each other in the marketplace, and had to meet up again before we could come back. But we got the copper and stone." Jordan and I handed our bags to our boss, who nodded. "Okay. Get to work, you three. We need more battle axes." "Yes sir!"
