Chapter One
Natalie's P.O.V
"Natalie, darling, it's morning. Wake up." I opened my eyes, still sleepy, and looked up. My aunt was standing next to me, a small smile on her face. "Morning, sleepyhead." I half-stretched and yawned. "Morning, auntie." "Go ahead and get dressed, then meet with Jordan outside the palace doors."
With that, she left my room, shutting the door behind her. I sat up, stretched again, and stood. Quietly, I began getting myself ready for the day. As I pulled my shirt on the rest of the way, I couldn't help but glance at my hand. The thread was still there, stretching to who knows where.
They're out there somewhere. I know it. I shook my head and began pulling my hair into it's usual ponytail. I cannot be distracted by such trivial matters. We need to concentrate on this war. I finished getting dressed and walked out of my room.
I made my way outside. Jordan wasn't there yet, so I leaned against the wall to wait. A few minutes passed, and he still hadn't arrived yet. Then my eyes were suddenly covered. "Guess who?" I sighed and moved the hands off of my face. "Hi, big brother." I turned and faced my brother Noah, who faked a sad face. "Aww, you didn't guess who!" "Don't need to. Your annoying voice is too easy to recognize." He gently nudged me, laughing. "Rude!" "Not really."
He leaned back against the palace door and looked at me. "So what are your plans for today?" "Well, if Jordan would get his lazy self out here, I could find out. You know they don't tell us what happens until we actually get to the forge." Noah nodded and looked around. "And where is he, anyway?"
I was about to answer before I heard a banging on the doors. I smirked and tapped the door back. "Who is it?" "You know darn well who it is." "Oh, so you finally decided to get your lazy self up and to the doors?" "Natalie, I swear to god-"
Noah rolled his eyes and pushed me away from the doors. He opened them, and out came Jordan, shooting me a fake death glare. "Thanks for nothing, Natalie." I giggled and waved. "Morning, Jordy. How've ya been?" "Well, I remembered that I have to go to the forge with you, only to go to the doors and find someone blocking them. And YOU weren't any help."
Noah grinned sheepishly and rubbed the back of his head. "Blame me for that. I didn't realize you were behind them at first, so when Natalie started talking to the doors, I thought she was finally going insane." I punched his shoulder, and Jordan smiled. "You know I can't stay mad at you, Noah." Noah smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I know. That's why I mess with you so often."
I rolled my eyes and tapped Jordan's shoulder. "C'mon. We gotta see what's happening at the forge, remember?" Jordan nodded and waved at Noah. "I'll see ya later, Noah." "Yeah, I'll see you later, Jordan." I smiled and started walking towards the forge, Jordan following close behind. We began to get a running start. Then, as we came up on the hill, we jumped up, unfurled our wings, and took off into the sky (AN: The characters have wings, btw).
Jordan's P.O.V
A bit of flying had gone by. The air was just filled with silence, before Natalie looked at me. "Hey, can I ask you a question?" I looked ahead really quick, then back at her. "Once we land, yeah. We're almost at the forge." She nodded and looked back ahead of her. We aimed for the ground and, carefully, touched down in the area of the forge.
We stood in the center as normal, waiting for our boss to give us our instructions. As we waited, Natalie looked as though she were deep in thought. Then I remembered something. "Hey, I haven't gotten the chance to ask you this yet."
She looked up at me. "Okay. Fire away." "Have you met your soulmate yet?" She sighed and shook her head. "You already know the answer to this. No, I haven't met them yet, and I don't think I will anytime soon." I frowned, but nodded anyway. "Okay." She looked at me. "Have you met your soulmate yet?"
"Well-" "Jordan! Natalie!" We both looked up to see our boss coming at us. He stopped and looked at us. "You need to go on a supply run." Natalie's eyes immediately darkened. "But that's not safe with the war going on." "Which is why you'll need these." He pulled up two dark-colored cloaks. "These should help. We need more copper and stone."
Natalie and I glanced at each other, then back at him. "And what if we get caught?" Our boss shook his head. "But you won't. I know you two are the best at sneaking around. I know for a fact that it's impossible to catch you." We shared another glance. Then Natalie nodded and grabbed her cloak. "Okay then. Copper and stone. We'll be back shortly."
Ay, first chapter up and running!
