I changed Percy's birthday so that he would be seventeen in the time this takes place (2013) after the Chitauri attack.

Nick Fury sat in his office. A lone file sat on his desk. Maybe it shouldn't have surprised him when he found this file. Multiple other files had been like this. Kids who all had some type of criminal record. This file though stuck out the most. He didn't know why just that the kid was one of the only mysteries he couldn't seem to crack. All of his friends seemed to be dead, missing, or non-existent. 

"Perseus Jackson," Fury read the file aloud. 

"Full name: Perseus Jackson

Birthday: August, Eighteenth, Nineteen ninety-six.

Fury placed the file down back onto the desk. He took a few minutes to review what he had read in his head. Multiple children were pinged on facial recognition being with Perseus Jackson, yet three of them were supposed to be dead. A few people who were seen with the teen were marked as unidentified. 

This information concerned the Director so he called in his best agents. Fury pressed a button on his desk, "Will someone get Agents Barton and Romanoff to my office."

Not even five minutes later the two super spies were in the office ready for a mission. 

"I need you two to run recon on this boy," Fury threw the file down.

"Why exactly are we running recon on a seventeen-year-old?" Clint asked. 

"Because he's suspicious, Barton. I can't seem to figure him out and if he's a threat we need him taken care of." 

"We'll see what we can do, sir," Both agents replied before slipping out of the room and through the base into the brisk New York air. It was getting colder now as the end of the year approached. 

After a while of discussing their plan, the two decided that it would be best to observe for a while before making a move and so after locating the young boy, they took turns watching him for a while. Observing his movements and habits, learning everything they could about him. 

A few times Clint thought he saw monsters around the boy and thought that perhaps he was an undiscovered demigod. Once or twice he was tempted to step in and bring Perseus to camp but every time the monsters disappeared quickly. Clint thought that the boy's protector would bring him to camp when he was ready. 

Yes, the man was out of touch with the demigod world and so had not quite heard of the recent events with the resident Heros of Olympus and the first children of the Big Three in centuries. He left camp after he turned eighteen and tried to cut himself off from the gods, but found that he just could not ignore the energy and sometimes even longed for the adrenaline that came with battle. Logically, he joined S.H.I.E.L.D. to try and satisfy the urge that the occasional monsters that found him could not. 

This is a rewrite of the first chapter of Things Happen. I definitely changed the events in this chapter quite a bit, but the overarching plot is the same. I'm happy with how this turned out. I definitely have more self-control now so I haven't decided if any of the characters will be demigods. What do you guys think?
