So hi I'm currently on a break from online classes and you know what that means?More chapters getting put out yay

"This part of the test is what we like to call cube design," she bent down again to a random drawer to pick out something else.Why wouldn't they just keep everything on top,surely it would save time right?About three seconds but still time nonetheless. 

She brought out an exact replica of the tablet device she was holding and seemed to want to hand it to me.I looked at her as if to confirm that her arms weren't betraying her but to my surprise she gave me a nod.

Tentatively I took it in my hands.I hadn't ever touched any of these bad boys in my life I only ever see them being used by the local enforcers in our area. I've heard that they have the processing capacity of entire computers despite only fitting on two of my palms.

They tell us that in the older world in other words before the cold war everyone used to have these or at least something akin to them which I have a hard time believing.

The first thing I noticed about it was it's peculiar shape.It looked like a rectangle with curved corners and the left side of it was made of a hard white material which I assumed what you were supposed to hold it with so you wouldn't be touching the screen the whole time.

The screen itself appeared to be completely see through.I placed my hand behind it and sure enough there it was, not blocked from my vision in the slightest.

"It's voice activated by the way just say your name and it'll sort of come alive." she explained after giving me my time to gawk.I could feel myself shaking.What if I say my name wrong?Would it self destruct and kill us all?What if- "Right now would be a good time to start Miss Quinn."

"Aella Quinn." I said a little too loudly in the cleanest tone I could manage and sure enough the screen came to life.The Eltera Symbol which was basically a very dramatically written E appeared on it, a few seconds later it switched to a different page containing what seemed to be various questions and cubes?

"So this is primarily a test of visual spacial reasoning, don't fret I know you have no idea what that means so I'm going to explain it to you," well she certainly isn't wrong about that "so this second part actually has two subparts in the first part you will be shown several views of three dimensional cubes with unique symbols on each face and you must determine which symbol is opposite the one you'll be asked about in the questions, do you get it?" Having no idea what she meant but not wanting to waste time I nodded my head "Good you can start now and I recommend you try to finish it quickly it's only four questions and you have about ten minutes left to complete this  phase, failure to do so will lead to the ultimate cancellation of this first part of the test, good luck."

I was hopeful that she'd at least explain how this damn thing works but no such luck.I had to(in a sense)learn to fly on my own.Okay I saw them swiping so maybe I should do the same.I carefully placed a finger on it and pulled it up and sure enough the screen followed.

The first question was exactly as she'd explained it there were three views of the same cube with different symbols on each side, the question itself was to determine which symbol was opposite 'X'

The were four choices at the bottom A,B,C,D and I had to choose one of them.After examination of the cubes I tapped on the D and immediately the question seemed to disappear from existence which brought about the next question.

So I can't even change my option later on, if I fuck up and click the wrong one by mistake I wouldn't get another chance?That would've been nice to know before I started but I guess it is the way it is.

The next three questions were basically the same as the first but with different spins put on them.A choice here and a choice there and voila I was done.

"Good job, time to explain the second subtest," I didn't even have to tell her I was done she just somehow knew.Her knowing everything was starting to get really weird "this part is basically the same thing as the first you will be shown a flat two-dimensional pattern which can be folded to make a number of three dimensional cubes your job is to look at the patterns and find out which of the cubes, if any can be made from it are we clear?" Finally something I was familiar with I think we'd actually been taught this in school "Yes"

"Start." The screen then switched to what appeared to be yet another bunch of questions with choices.I started ticking off what I thought were the correct answers.I felt relieved finally seeing questions that I kinda had a grasp on, maybe I won't fail that hard.

"Okay time's up put down the device please," the woman said suddenly roughly pulling me out of my train of thought. "I'm sorry what?" The questions on the device's screen then disappeared causing me to almost jump out of my own skin.I wasn't done with the questions but I was sure I had at least five minutes left.There was absolutely no way time flew by that quickly she had to be lying, maybe it's a part of the test.

"I said time's up it's time for you to exit the room." Without warning she reached over and roughly took the device from my arms,she also neatly took the cards and placed them back in their box while I stood there dumbly in disbelief.This isn't fair, I wanted to scream it at the top of my lungs but the words seemed to die on their way out. "If you don't get out of the testing room right now I will have to call a few guards in and it will get ugly quickly, so please get out it's for your own good." She told me looking into my eyes with an expression of pity.

I felt an out of body experience like no other.I could literally see myself on the other end of the room just standing there but somehow through what was probably the work of divine intervention I moved my legs.I felt utter numbness until I walked out the door.

Then the tears came.

Not a lot of stuff going on in this chapter I know but slowly and surely we're getting there I promise.Also I know there may be some weird plot holes or whatever trust me I know but I'll come back to edit later, probably when the book is done.
