A/n - I know I said last chapter since it's my summer vacation, I would update much - much more but I have been more busy than I anticipated which basically means I have barely been able to write for a long period of time. The time I am writing this chapter is my first time writing since I updated last time. So I am sorry for a late update!

[Dream - Memory 2]

He remembered vivid visions of a long forgotten memory - a mere shadow of a lost childhood. Now once again surfacing from the depths of his locked mind.

That day, like all others, had been sort of eventful. A photographer was scheduled to arrive at 4 pm in the afternoon and so much things had do be done before he arrived. They needed the correct clothing which consisted of casual everyday clothes. The mother of the family wanted a peaceful and happy feeling which will be remembered whenever looked upon instead of the formal with costumes and polished shoes which only gives the feeling of luxury. No, it was supposed to be a memory of their family. And the brunette had no problem with being casual, he is pretty lax in nature. Also, being formal doesn't suit his happy and free spirited self. It's quite the opposite.

''You two, the photographer is here!''

''Coming mom!'' The boy called back and hurried downstairs. His casual clothing consisted of a pair of blue short jeans, a white t-shirt with his standard purple jacket and a matching pair of white socks. His father, mother and he was already present, in their own version of casualness. The photographer was setting up his equipment which was basically the camera and a light reflector to adjust the light in the room. The boy stood in front in the meddle between his parents and he stood just a little to the left between the father and the boy.

''I never look good enough in front of the camera. It makes me look much older than I really am.'' He whispered out as a complain.

"Ahh such nonsense . No one is perfect you know".

The brown haired boy nodded his head and then looked up at his most favorite person in this world (Miwa was also someone he held dear of course). "Don't worry about it! You are and will always be perfect in my eyes! You can do everything ..." The word he spoke was never heard, for it is another mystery yet to be solved.

Then he looked down at the floor for a moment. He smiled mischievously, looked at the photographer and held up his fingers in a peace sign. ''Well, If you happen to look bad however, it's good that I am always camera ready~''

''Why you-''

''Okay, smile!'' the photographer said as he took the picture.

Then it all vanished, but the warmth never ceased to exist. The emotions from that day would forever stay, as if they had burned themselves into his consciousness, his body and his emotions.

-

The teen awoke with a jolt. He quickly scanned his surrounding and realized he was in his bedroom. Knowing where he was, he sat up on the uncomfortable hard bed material and thought about what he had just seen, or rather, what he just now remembered. The whole experience felt like it just happened yesterday, but he knew it was long ago. When he was still just a kid in elementary school. A time when it seemed like he had been happy. A time before the accident. Time and date, he didn't know. Still, it all felt so surrealistic. Like it had just been a dream of a childhood he longed for. For a time he can never re experience again, no matter how much his heart wishes for it.

Dwelling on his past like this only brought sorrow to his heart, so he shook himself out of his thoughts and once more checked his surroundings. Yes, he was still in his bedroom, however, something felt slightly odd. No, something really was odd. Where was all of his furniture? And he also realized, he had been sitting on the floor this entire time. What was going on now? He was certain he was awake.

''I see you've come to you're senses. Well, I would also be a little disorient after having my real childhood thrown in my face.'' at the awareness of another existing voice in his desolated room, the teen turned to the owner of the voice and once again saw himself from his younger age. He really is going crazy, isn't he?

''Am I still dreaming?''

''Yes.'' a blunt answer for a rather frank question. This younger version is him alright.

''How can I still be dreaming? I literally just woke up from a dream.''

''Have you never heard of the different depths of dreams? I thought you would at least remember that much.''

''Of course I remember.'' he sighed. ''All of the hospital visits I made just because mother and father thought I slept too deep. Even the doctors thought that.'' he crossed his arms at that memory. Bluntly, it had been an annoying part of his childhood. Parent's who just are to addicted with care. But he suppose every parent is like that. Worrying more about their child than they do for themselves.

''But wait, you said 'remember that much'? What does that mean? And how can I speak with you like this if you are just a dream? Won't you just answer to my questions however I want?''

''I am a piece of you which got out before I was looked away by that woman all those years ago. I am a part of your childhood. And why we can speak like this is because I am created by you.''

Now he felt more confused than ever. ''Created by me?''

''Yes, by your subconscious. I am merely a lost piece wanting to get back. Which basically means, I am here to guide you.''

''If you are a 'part' of me, then why can't you return to me?''

''Believe me, I have tried. But something is keeping me from going back. And this, is the problem.'' he pointed towards the locked door (which just appeared out of nowhere) and refereed to the many locks still keeping the door closed for anyone who wishes to enter. However, one was missing from last time.

''When that woman came all those years ago and locked away your memories, the door to your memories also got locked. That's why I couldn't reenter. But if you can unlock what you need to get back, the door to your memories will reopen and I can return to our past, as a memory.''

''So that's why you want me to open the door..''

''Not only that, your memories of me will also return.'' a new voice, yet familiar appeared. Kai turned around and saw the guy in the photo.

''You! I saw you in my dream!''

''Yes I know. I can feel my existence becoming stronger.''

''So, are you also a missing piece to my childhood?''

The older boy became silent for a short while. ''Both yes and no.''

''Mind explaining-'' the brunette was caught off mid sentence by a sudden brightness in their surroundings. Kai glanced behind himself and noted how both his younger self and the door had disappeared.

''Our time is up. Read the part in the diary. It will contain the next trigger for your memories.''

''What are you talking about? The diary is but an empty book.''

''It will be revealed to you. But only you.''

The brightness grew and Kai felt his consciousness steadily growing. Did it mean he was waking up?

''One more thing before we part, when you wake up you will find yourself in a rather difficult task. But if I know you, I know you will be able to solve it.''

''A difficult task?''

''Goodbye for now, Toshiki.''

''Wait! I'm not done speaking to you!''

-

Green eyes opened up and could register a faint shadowy figure above him. He blinked, once, twice and a third time before his vision cleared and could register the looming figure as his mother and her mouth was moving. She looked a little bit worried. Well, a little bit is nothing further from a lie. It looked like she had tears in her eyes.

''Mother?..'' he faintly whispered. Why did his voice sounds so weak? When he reached out to his mother, she noticed his eyes open and relief crossed her face, yet the tears couldn't stop coming. Now they were rising in flow, becoming a flood instead of their original form of raindrops.

''My god Toshiki!'' she exhaled and giggled at the same time. ''Don't scare me like that! You were sleeping so deeply, I thought you wouldn't wake up!''

''Sorry for making you worry..''

She moved away from Kai to give him some space. He slowly sat up from the floor and glanced around him. He was still in his father's study. Now he knew he wasn't sleeping.

Neither of the two said anything more for a while. The brunette figured his mother needed some time to calm. A few minutes passed and her tears had finally stopped. Maybe now was a good time to start talking again.

''What time is it?''

''It was around 5 am when I went up to get a drink only to find you lying on the floor. So I would suppose it's around 5.30 am.'' Kai simply nodded, not knowing what to say.

A few more minutes passed and he got the feeling his mother wanted to say something. But it was like she hesitated for some reason. She closed her mouth and took a deep breath before she finally asked her question;

''Are you sleepwalking again?''

''Ahh?!'' the question took him by surprise. No he didn't sleepwalk. But guessing the situation they were in, it could seem that way to her. ''No, I am not.''

''Then why do I found you sleeping on the floor in your father's study even when you know you aren't allowed in here?''

''That's um..''

''And you were sleeping so deeply again. You haven't done that for years. I am not dumb. Even I can see there is some pattern here.''

''I am perfectly fine. There is nothing wrong with me.''

''What all the commotion about?'' Both Kai and his mother looked at the door to the room to see the man of the house, half asleep and rubbing his tired eyes.

''There is nothing-''

''Toshiki has begun his sleepwalking again... And I also found him sleeping very deep..'' his Mother caught him of. Kai remembered what that mysterious figure said to him before they parted in his dream. 'When you wake up you will find yourself in a rather difficult task.'' This must be what he meant right?

Now his father looked completely awake. ''What?'' he only managed to stutter out.

-

''Have you felt other occurrences in your body for the last couple of weeks? Maybe you have felt an unexplained tiredness or maybe you have felt week for different reasons?'' asked Dr. Ric.

''No, not since my last trip here.'' Kai said annoyed.

That morning, his parent's had called their personal doctor, Dr. Ric and they had ordered a time to meet that very same day.

Dr. Ric had taken care of Kai's sleeping 'disorder' when he was younger and he had also helped his mother with her insomnia. He had turned into their personal doctor. Not that he didn't have any other patients.

''I heard about that incident. How are you fairing now?''

''I was permitted to leave the house yesterday.''

''But you were fatigued until just recently. In fact, you could barely leave your bed for three days.''

''Don't exaggerate mom.'' Kai almost snapped. He just wanted to get this over with.

''There is nothing else you want to tell me. Like if you have experienced strange dreams that have felt different from others?''

Kai got lost in his thoughts. He thought about yesterdays dreams. His previous dreams. They all felt real, but in a way, they felt so distant.

If he hadn't been lost in thought and instead paid more attention to reality, he might have seen Dr. Ric and his parents looking at each other with a knowing look.

''No, there is nothing to report. So are we don here? Cause I need to go grab a glass of water.''

''Yes I would say we're done here.''

''Then I'll be right back.'' Kai left the hospital room in a hurry. He walked down the long isle of doors until he came to a room with a three couches, some toys scattered around on the floor and a small machine with water. He took one of the plastic glasses and filled it to the top with ice cold water.

A few minutes later, he walked back the way he came. A small girl with back long hair walked the opposite side of her, walking facing his way. When they passed, something froze his blood and a chill ran up his spine. The girl emitted a cold that crawled under his skin and when he turned around to look at her, she was gone. After he collected himself and thought of it as his mind playing trick on him, he continued until he came to his borrowed room. But before he opened the door, he heard his parent's and Dr. Ric talking about something. From the sound of it, it seemed like they were talking about him.

''So, what do you think Dr?''

''He does share some of the symptoms. But I can't really tell for sure. I would need a few more surveys.'' Huh, call who? That woman they mentioned before? Is it the same woman his younger self was talking about?

''Is is crucial to call her?''

''Hmm, It might be a good idea to call her if or before things escalate too far. I'll give her a call and we'll see what she has to say. Maybe she would want to see him for herself. You know how she is.''

''Then we will wait until then.''

One more thing, just to make things clear. When Kai was younger, he suffered from very deep sleep which he could barely wake up from sometimes. And sometimes it made him sleepwalk.
