Part Three

Once he's reasonably calmed down and in control of himself, Dust has made his way back through the building. He ran into the annoying owner who gave Dust his cut of the winnings. Dust doesn't really care about the money, but still takes it. He'll look suspicious for refusing.

Dust is now walking through the dirty back allies. He's carrying a plate filled with some sort of bread stuffed with meat. Dust hasn't been taking very good care of himself. He only tends to eat sporadically whenever his mind quiets enough for him to notice hunger. The fighting club sells some crappy food at a small concession stand. Dust doesn't even like what he's eating. After a few bites, he leaves it sitting on the plate as he wanders. It's too early to head back home. Dust isn't ready to watch everyone else be happy for another few days.

The sun is almost completely set. The streetlights are rarely working in this area of the city. Dust doesn't mind the darkness. He walks right through the middle of the allies. Dust has done this multiple times before. The first few nights, petty thieves tried to mug him. Dust killed one of them and critically injured two others before leaving. No one has tried again since then. It's disappointing. Dust is hopping to lure in more thugs by roaming around so boldly. He's bored and wants some more playthings.

A small trash can falls to the ground a few streets away. The loud, metallic sound peaks Dust's interest. He changes direction to investigate. An all-out fight is just the thing to lift up Dust's mood. He makes a few turns around tight corners before finding the right ally. The narrow street is a dead end with brick walls on all sides. A trash can has been tipped with its contents spilled all over the ally. Without anyone in immediate sight, Dust would have ignored it and moved on were it not for the glowing. There's a freaky neon blue glow coming from around a dumpster further in the ally. That color of glow is familiar to almost every Sans. Dust doesn't show any concern in the slightest as he walks down the ally to see around the garbage bin. A loud hissing starts up he gets close. Dust chuckles at the poor intimidation attempt as he rounds the corner to get a good look.

Pressed against the corner between the brick wall and the dumpster, a small Skelton child hisses furiously. They're about three or four years old, but Dust isn't very good at guessing the age of kids. The kid wears ratty pants and and a baggy jacket that looks ready to fall apart. Dust takes his time to examine the kid's interesting appearance despite the growls. At least one of their parents are from some sort of BeastTale AU. His feet are bare and shaped like a cat's with all the weight balanced on his toes. The kid's hands remain dull, but his canine teeth are slightly longer and sharper. The most interesting thing is the fact that he has a skeletal tail that's longer than he is tall. The entire tail is covered in quills that glow neon blue. Each quill must be made of magic. The same magic gives the kid two permanently glowing eyes. Dust's silent observing seems to stress the skeleton child. On all fours, he continues to hiss and spit in agitation.

"And just what are you doing out here? Mommy didn't want a half feral runt?" Dust chuckles. From the kids looks and behavior, Dust assumes that this one is a little less aware than most. There are plenty of AUs where monsters live up to the reputation that humans give them. Dust doesn't count himself as any better, but just a little smarter. The kid doesn't say a word. It's possible that he simply can't speak. The growling abruptly cuts off as Dust speaks.

"Nothing, huh?" Dust ask after a few seconds without a reaction. He shifts on his feet, and with his sharp senses, Dust notices the barely detectable movement of the kid's round eyes. Dust moves his arm again and watches the kid's attention shift with it. The skeleton child tracks the plate of food as it moves in the air.

"Watching the food, huh?" Dust says. He stands there for a moment and stares at the kid. Dust doesn't really care about feral monster kids running around in an AU that he doesn't even bother to know the name of. Dust isn't sure if he even likes the kids that are already crawling around his 'home'. It's not really a concern of his if a random kid is hungry. Dust glances down at his paper plate. He doesn't like whatever it is and was planning to eventually dump it off in a trashcan or even on the ground. This is just convenient. Dust reminds himself that he's a heartless mass murder before tossing the plate to the ground near the kid.

The skeleton child hesitates, waiting to see if Dust will hurt him, but then shuffles closer and begins to devour the food. He eats quickly eats while stiffly glancing up every few seconds. Dust huffs in exasperation and turns around to leave. He's walked only a few feet before he notices a skittering sound behind him. Dust whips around to find that the kid has started to follow behind him on all fours.

"Oh no. No fucking way," Dust growls in frustration, "I do one decent thing and this is what happens. Just like a damn stray dog. Fuck- Go away, scram!" The kid jumps back as Dust waves his arms around. Not wanting to be bothered any further, Dust turns and quickly rushes off. He glances over his shoulder to make sure that the little urchin isn't following. Dust turns into another ally and looks around. The cost is clear. Fed up with how the day turned out, Dust summons his magic and opens a portal. He disappears from the AU without a trace.
