Chapter XLIII
Lorelai examined herself in a mirror. Iris had pulled her hair up into a ponytail on the right side of her head. As soon as night had fallen, the two girls had hurried to their room, getting into their pajamas. They had decided to have their own little slumber party. And now that Lorelai's hair had been brushed and fixed up, it was Iris's turn. They both sat down on the bed, Lorelai behind Iris. The blue-flecked green-eyed girl began brushing through her friend's short, brown hair.
"So, Lori, you gonna share any details?" Iris suddenly asked.
"What details?" Lorelai replied.
"About you and Prompto, of course. I promise it'll be just between us."
Lorelai giggled. "Not much to say. He told me how he felt, I told him how I felt, now we're a thing."
Iris pouted. "There's gotta be more to it than that! Can't you be more specific?!"
Lorelai laughed at her. "Fine. He said that..." She paused her brushing, remembering his exact words. "That he gets lost whenever he looks into my eyes. That my smile brightens his day. And that I'm..." she smiled, realizing just how great it felt to hear his compliments. "The most beautiful girl he'd ever met."
"Awww!" Iris gushed. "That's so sweet! Did he kiss you?"
Lorelai nodded. "Yeah, he did."
The brunette squealed with delight. After brushing her hair and adding a couple of moogle hair clips, Lorelai stood and let Iris take a look in a mirror. Iris smiled at her reflection. She then immediately went back to pestering Lorelai.
"Anything else happen with you two?"
Lorelai rolled her eyes. "Enough about me. What about you and Noctis?" A mischievous smirk crossed her lips.
Iris blushed. "T-There's nothing going on between me and Noct. Sure, I like him and all, but we're just friends. He's already got Lady Lunafreya." She sadly turned her gaze to the floor.
Lorelai's smirk faded and she patted Iris on the back. "I'm sorry, I was only teasing. There are plenty of fish in the sea. What's say we check out a few?"
She wiggled her eyebrows, causing Iris to look at her in confusion. She walked over to a dresser and opened a drawer, pulling out a magazine. It was one she had snuck from Gladio featuring lots of men's apparel... With handsome male models showing them off. Iris gasped slightly.
"But, Lori, you've got a boyfriend now. Should you really be looking at something like that?"
Lorelai waved a hand dismissively. "Relax, it's just for fun. It's not like I'm going to ditch Prompto to try and score one of these models. I'd never do something like that."
Iris gave in and the two laid across a bed on their stomachs, side by side, staring at the pictures in the magazine. They would flip through the pages, pointing out the hottest guys.
"Hey, any way we can listen to some music?" Lorelai asked.
"I think they have music channels on TV," Iris replied, standing up. "I'll check."
She turned on the TV and flipped through the channels. She found several music channels and stopped on one of them that had people dancing. The beat of the music made Lorelai instantly jump to her feet. With a grin, she began moving to the music and taking Iris's hands and forcing her to dance as well. The brunette erupted with laughter as her friend drug her along.
"Lori! You do this every time!"
Lorelai joined in her laughter. "Because it's so much fun! When I hear a cool beat I just want to move to the music!"
"Looks like this little slumber party just turned into a dance party!"

Prompto stared dreamily up at the ceiling. He was laying back on his bed with his arms stretched out to the sides. His friends guessed that the events that transpired earlier that day were great judging by Prompto's mood. But now that they were alone, they wanted to know more about the subject. A small smirk tugged at the prince's lips.
"I'm guessing you had a great time with Lora today," he said.
Prompto hummed in content. "Yeah."
"So?" Gladio urged. "Wanna elaborate on that?"
"Now, now, we shouldn't pry into their affairs," Ignis said. He was the only one not willing to press the gunman for details. "What they do is their own business."
"Just answer me one thing, Prompto," the shield said. "Are you and Lora a thing now?"
The blond finally sat up, leaning back on his hands as he met Gladio's gaze with a smile. "Yeah, we are. She's the best."
"Good for you," the prince told him. "You finally got your Goddess, huh?"
Prompto grinned. "Who would've thought I'd end up with an amazing girl like her. She's pretty, talented, and a blast to be around." His grin faded and he stared down at the floor. "How could I ever compare to her?"
"Prompto." Ignis's voice caused the blond to look over at him. "Lorelai accepted you for who you are, just as you accepted her. You shouldn't doubt your worth when you are clearly important to her."
The gunman smiled. "You're right, Iggy. So, what do you think the girls are up to?"
"Probably girly stuff," Gladio answered. "Giving each other makeovers or reading magazines."
"Not all women are so stereotypical," Ignis stated. "There's no telling what activities they may partake in."
Noctis waved a hand dismissively. "Who cares. We can have our own fun."
"What, like playing video games all night?" the shield guessed, knowing the prince all too well.
"Wait..." Ignis's voice silenced them all. "Do you hear that?" They all took a moment to listen closely. The faint beat of a tune could be heard. "Sounds like... music."
"Well what are we waiting for?" Prompto said. "Let's check it out."
The four left their room and followed the sound. The music grew louder as they went. They followed it over to Iris's room. From the other side of the door, they could distinctly hear music. Noctis hesitantly knocked on the door. They heard a quick "come in" from the other side. They slowly entered the room, immediately seeing the two girls copying a dance that was shown on the TV. Iris glanced back at them.
"Hey, guys," she swiftly greeted. "Can't talk now. Gotta dance."
The four boys quietly sat down, watching the girls dance. Prompto had his eyes glued on his girlfriend, his blue orbs wide and traveling up and down her figure. With a quick glance, Lorelai caught sight of him staring. She only smiled to herself and continued dancing.
Gladio whistled at them. "Shake those asses."
Prompto immediately shot him a glare. "Dude, could you not?!"
He chuckled. "Sorry, Prompto. Lora's just too damn good."
The blond pouted, his eyes going back to the black-haired girl. As soon as the song ended, the girls high fived and caught their breath. Lorelai walked over to Prompto and took a seat beside him. Iris took a seat as well.
"So, what are you boys doing here?" Lorelai asked.
"We heard music coming from in here," the gunman explained. "Decided to see what was going on. You two are really good."
"Thanks," Iris replied. "But Lori's better than I am. She always drags me into these things."
Lorelai laughed. "You've got to admit, it's fun though."
"Really fun," the brunette agreed.
Noctis realized he'd nearly sat on the magazine on Iris's bed. He picked it up. "What's this?"
Everyone looked over at the magazine in his hand. "Huh, I thought one of my magazines was missing," Gladio said.
"That is why you shouldn't leave them out where anyone could see them," Ignis advised.
Prompto felt a bit jealous of the male model on the cover of the magazine. He knew he had plenty of flaws. He wondered if Lorelai preferred perfect men like that. To think that she had been staring at dozens of them earlier made his heart ache. He sadly hung his head down.
"Oh, I didn't know you were into those types."
Lorelai instantly noticed his change in mood. Her smile faded. She immediately understood what was bothering him. She scooted closer and took his hand.
"Prompto, I'm sorry. I didn't think it'd bother you. I promise it was just for fun." She smiled slightly. "In all honesty, none of them can even compare to you. I like you because you're you, and don't ever think differently." She pecked his cheek.
He couldn't help but smile. He tried his best to push away the negativity. He wanted to fully believe and trust in Lorelai. He squeezed her hand, her smiling face cheering him up like it normally did.
"How cute," Noctis commented, watching the couple.
Prompto blushed lightly. "S-Shut up."
Ignis stood. "We should head back to our room and leave the ladies to their entertainment."
The boys all got up, Gladiolus taking back his magazine, and began leaving the room. Prompto stayed behind a little longer, wanting a chance to be alone with his girl. The two sat side by side, gazing softly at each other. Lorelai noticed Iris was still present and kindly shooed her away.
"I'll just... go get a glass of water," she said and quickly left them alone.
"Did you really mean what you said?" the blond asked. "Do you really like me even with all my flaws?"
"Yes, Prompto. Your flaws are a part of what makes you, you. And I like you that way. I'd never be able to live with myself if I intentionally hurt you. I hope you know that I'd never do that to you."
He smiled, resting his forehead against hers. "I know. I trust you, Lora." His smile quickly faded. "I just... feel like I'm not good enough for you. You deserve someone who's as perfect as you are."
She giggled and placed her hands on the sides of his face. "I'm far from perfect, Prompto. I have my share of flaws too, just like everyone else. But I want you to know that you are a wonderful person and that I truly do like you."
She leaned in and pushed her lips against his. He immediately returned the kiss, wrapping his arms around her and holding her tightly. Even after pulling apart, they remained in each other's arms. The door suddenly opened and Iris stepped inside. She immediately covered her eyes.
"Ahh, I-I'm so sorry!" she apologized. "I didn't mean to intrude!"
Lorelai smiled and pulled away from her boyfriend, taking his hand instead. "It's alright, Iris."
The brunette uncovered her eyes but kept them averted. She shyly walked over to her own bed. Lorelai and Prompto both stood, the gunman heading for the door with the girl. With one last kiss, they said their "goodnights". Prompto left for his own room while the girls prepared for bed. Lorelai drifted to sleep with a smile on her lips.
