Chapter 3

Once (Name) had arrived at her assigned base, she then halted in her tracks, silently watching from a nearby distance as the Red Team's new rookie walked over to her previous teammates, the Blue Team's rookie being no where in sight.

"Excuse me, sir? Can I ask you a question?" the Red Team's rookie asks Church politely, whom had his back turned to him as the mentioned cobalt-armored soldier groaned in annoyance.

"Dear God in heaven, rookie," Church starts, seemingly assuming that the Red Team's rookie that stood behind him was actually Caboose as he continues to threaten him without realizing. "If I turn around and you are not inside, I-I can't be held responsible for what I'm going to do to you!"

This made (Name) slowly move her dominant hand towards her holster on instinct, her glove-covered fingers lightly grazing against the handle of her M6G Magnum Caliber Pistol as the red-armored soldier looked at Church with a confused look.

"Huh? What did I do?" he asks.

But Church wouldn't have it as he began to count. "ONE!"

"Aw, give me a break!"

"TWO!"

"Fine!"

Then the red-armored soldier walked right into Blue Base, leaving (Name) to remove her hand from her gun as she walks on over, alerting her two teammates of her presence.

"Jesus Christ, (Last Name)! Don't scare us like that!" Church shouts, putting a hand to where his heart was before adding. "And where the hell have you been?! You just disappeared on us!"

"Yeah, man. A lot of stuff happened while you were gone," Tucker adds in.

(Name) then grabbed her speaking journal, wrote something in it, and then showed it to the two soldiers. "Went out on patrol. My apologies for disappearing without your notice."

"Hmph. Well next time tell me that you're heading off on patrol, alright?" Church grumbles, crossing his arms in slight annoyance as he looks up at the midnight-blue armored soldier before him with a small glare. "I am your Commanding Officer, so you should be getting my permission first before heading off on your own. If it's a mission ordered by me, then you should abide to my orders without complaint. End of story."

"What? No you're not. You're still just a Private," Tucker pointed out. "And not cool, man. You can't just boss people around."

Church then looks over at Tucker with a heated glare. "Yes I am, and I can. Since I was here first, I was put as the Commanding Officer by the Commander himself. So I am allowed to give orders around here, whether you like it or not."

This made Tucker roll his eyes from underneath his helmet at Church as the mentioned cobalt-armored soldier immediately changes the subject. "Well, enough gabbing out of us, let's take this bad boy out for a spin. Go ahead and hop in, Tucker."

"Me? I can't drive that thing!" Tucker says, taken aback by what Church tried to make him do.

"You're telling me you're not armored-certified?" Church asks in disbelief.

"I can'--I don't even know how to use the fuckin' sniper rifle! Don't you know how to drive that?" Tucker asks while pointing at the tank.

"NO! Holy crap! Who is running this army?!" Church screams out.

While (Name) was observing the whole ordeal before her, the Red Team's rookie then finally walked out of Blue Base, carrying what looked like to be the Blue Team's signature flag in his glove-covered hands as he spotted the midnight blue-armored soldier from afar.

"Oh, uh, hello!" he called out, waving one of his hands to try and gain her attention as he walked over to where she stood, craning hid head back once he got there. "Woah! You're, like, really tall!"

This made (Name) move her head to look down at the red-armored soldier that now stood in front of her, observing him for a bit before writing into her speaking journal and showing it to him afterwards.

"I thank you for the compliment, soldier. Now, what brings you here to the other side of the canyon, if I may ask?"

"Oh, I was given an order to go to the store here and ask if they have any elbow grease and headlight fluid. But all I got was this flag."

He then gestures to the flag in his hands while looking down at the ground in slight shame. "It's already my first day here and I've already screwed it up."

(Name) shook her head at the statement, laying a hand on the rookie's shoulder to get his attention before writing something else down in her speaking journal and showing it to him. "At ease, soldier. It's your first time in the military. Mistakes always happen, even to the best of soldiers. Just get back up and try again."

"Yeah...Yeah, you're right! I should just get back up and try again," the red-armored soldier says, looking down at the flag in his hands before looking back up at (Name) in happiness. "Thanks for the confidence boost, Mr...um..."

"No formalities needed. Just "Private (Last Name)" will do."

"Oh, right, the "military status" thing. Well, anyway, the name's "Franklin Delano Donut", or just "Private Donut", if you didn't happened to know. Once again, thanks for the confidence boost, Private (Last Name)," the red-armored soldier says, seemingly winking up at the taller soldier from underneath his helmet as he and the midnight-blue-armored soldier shook hands. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to bring this flag back to my team."

(Name) then nodded her head, watching silently as the red-armored soldier walked off towards the direction where Red Base is before her blue-armored teammate immediately came running out of Blue Base afterwards.

"Hey!" he calls out to Church and Tucker. "Just wanted to let you know, the general stopped by and picked up the flag!"

Then he turns his head and spots (Name). "Oh, hi Giant Person! Welcome back!" he says with a wave of his hand.

As (Name) waves back to him in greetings, Church then turned around to look at Caboose with a hard glare, clearly annoyed and pissed from the conversation that he and Tucker had just had moments ago. "YEAH, OKAY. WHATEVER, MORON!"

This left Caboose with a sadden expression as he headed back into Blue Base, with (Name) watching him from where she stood before walking over to head into the team's base also.

"Why would they give us a tank if nobody here knows how to drive the damn thing?" Church asks, still in disbelief by the situation that was put on him as Tucker looks at him.

"Well, I mean, we didn't ask if (Last Name) could drive it," the aqua-armored soldier mentions briefly, not noticing that the mentioned midnight blue-armored soldier had already walked pass by them and was currently heading her way up to the bases' rooftop, where Caboose was already up there standing and watching the conversation from above with the same sullen expression.

"Well then let's ask him," Church says.

But before they could take a step, Church then realizes something that their blue-armored teammate had just said to them. "Wait a second. What did he say?"
