Chapter 2

One week later...

After a full week of waiting, the two teams had finally gotten to meet their new recruits, and with it, the arrival of Blue Team's personal Scorpion-class battle tank.

As Church and Tucker admired it from a close-up view, (Name) had gotten her journal out and had started writing down information about her new teammate (while also pulling out her "speaking journal" just in case she needed it).

After finishing her short note-taking, (Name) then put the journal back into her back compartment and proceeded to listen to the new rookie, whom was currently explaining on how he got here in the ship that he was dropped off on with the tank.

"So I say to the guy: "How are you gonna get the tank down to the planet?" And he goes: "I'll just put it on the ship." And I go: "If you got a ship that can carry a tank, why not just put guns on the ship and use it instead?"--"

But before the new Blue Team member (known as "Caboose") could ramble on, Tucker then interrupts him.

"Hey kid?"

"Yeah?" Caboose replies.

"You're ruining the moment. Shut up," Tucker says while glaring at the new recruit.

"Oh. Okay. You got it, man," Caboose says, a little sadden by the harsh order given to him as he looked down later the ground in said sadness.

This made (Name) look down at the young soldier, feeling a bit of sympathy knowing that today was his first day here as she gently tapped his shoulder to get his attention before showing him what she wrote down in her speaking journal.

"At ease, soldier. Today's your first day, after all," Caboose reads out loud to himself. "Things get pretty hectic around here, but you'll learn how to get use to it."

(A/N: There was some information shown that he wasn't too mentally disabled in the beginning episodes of when he first got into Blood Gulch (credited to Wikipedia), so I went with giving him the ability to know how to read until then.)

"Hey, new kid. Didn't I just tell you to shut up?" Tucker says while looking over at Caboose once more with a glare of annoyance.

"Oh, s-sorry!"

After apologizing to his superior, he then looked up at the quiet soldier before him. "Thank you for comforting me, giant person," he whispers to her.

(Name) only gave a wave of her hand in dismissal as she went around the tank to examine it more closely, a small memory lingering into her mind of when she saw this highly advance mechanism for the first time.

'A Scorpion-Class M808V Main Battle Tank, a.k.a: The Scorpion Tank,' (Name) says in her thoughts as she lightly grazes her glove-covered fingers against the tank's metallic surface. 'Haven't rode any of these in a while.....'

"You know what?" Church begins to say, making everyone turn their heads to look at him as he continued. "I could blow up the whole goddamn world with this thing."

With that being said, Tucker then adds in on that statement. "You know what? Forget what I said before. We can definitely pick up chicks in this thing. Probably two or three chicks a piece."

"Oh man, listen to you! What are you going to do with chicks?" Church asks while looking at Tucker.

"Church, women are like "Voltron". The more you hook up, the better it gets," Tucker implies, seemingly daydreaming about the outcome of him riding the tank with two hot chicks at each side of him as he looked over at the tall soldier from the other side of the tank. "Ain't I right, (Last Name)?"

This made the midnight-blue armored soldier lightly shrugged her shoulders at Tucker's question, not really interested in the conversation that her two teammates were having as she continued to observe the tank.

"I'll take that as a "yes"," Tucker says, sounding proud at the fact that someone had actually "agreed" with him as Church facepalms.

"Tucker, he didn't even agreed to what you just said. He just shrugged his shoulders."

"I'm still gonna count it as a "yes"."

Church sighs. "You know what? Fine. Whatever. Believe in what you see. Can we just go back to looking at how...awesome this tank looks?"

Then the two proceeded to continue looking at the tank as if nothing happened, leaving the rookie to be confused by what just happened as he looked over to his other teammate from the other side of the tank. "Um, what just happened?" he asks.

The midnight-blue armored soldier then looked over at the rookie, once again shrugging her shoulders as she wrote something down into her speaking journal before showing it to him.

"Between them, arguments occur occasionally at random points throughout the week. Once again, you'll learn how to get use to it," he reads out loud to himself. "So I just...have to get use to it?"

The midnight-blue soldier nodded her head, writing something else down in her speaking journal before showing it to him once again. "I'm going to go and start patrolling around the area. Would you like to come with?"

"Uh, n-no thank you. Um, I think I should stay here and wait to see what my first orders will be," Caboose answers.

(Name) nodded her head once more, putting her speaking journal back into her compartment before giving him a brief two-finger salute as she headed off into the direction that leads outside the perimeters of Blue Base Outpost.

"Uh, okay! Goodbye, Giant Person!"

"Hey, rookie! Shut up!"

"S-Sorry!"

Meanwhile (at Red Base)...

Approximately at the same time as the events at Blue Base was happening, the Red Team had also gotten themselves a new rookie, and are currently trying to get rid of him by giving him his first "mission".

"Okay, Private Donut. We need you to go to the store and get two quarts of elbow grease," Simmons begins to say to their new recruit, already having a idea in mind on how this will go as Grif adds in.

"Yeah, and-uh, pick up some...headlight fluid for the "Puma"."

"The what?" Donut (the new recruit) asks, confused as to what his orange-armored teammate was talking about as Simmons corrects Grif's statement.

"He means the "Warthog"."

"Oh."

......

"You do know where the store is, right? Rookie?" Grif asks, putting on a tone that'll convince the newcomer into leaving faster as he raised a brow at the red-armored soldier.

"What? Uh--Yeah! Yeah, of course I do! Sure, no problem," Donut says nervously, unsure as to what he was being asked as he hoped that his lie was convincing enough to fool them into thinking that he actually knows where the store is.

......

"Well, get going then," Simmons says after a moment of silence.

This left the rookie to look at is fellow teammates in shock, flabbergasted that his lie had actually worked. "Al-Alright..."

Then Donut turns around and begins to walk off, only to pause after a few steps as he looks around in confusion. "Um..."

"Other way," Grif points out with a slight deadpanned look (even though deep down inside he was laughing at how oblivious their rookie was by what was happening).

"I knew that. Just got turned around, that's all."

As Donut was now walking off into the direction that Grif had pointed out for him, Simmons then looks over at Grif. "How long do you think until he figures out that there's no store?" he says.

After being asked that, Grif then looks off into the direction of where Donut had walked off to, thinking for a few seconds before coming up with an answer. "I'd say...at least a week."

Meanwhile (with you)...

As (Name) had walked a good few meters away from Blue Base, she then hid herself behind a few small boulders, making sure that both of the bases' team members didn't see her before activating her camouflage mode and walking off into another direction, where she recently found a secret trail that lead up to the very top of the canyon. Once making the trip there, (Name) then began patrolling around the canyon, keeping her camouflage mode activated while looking down at both sides of the canyon as she wrote in her private journal.

Journal Entry: #????
Date: ??/??/2552
Subject: Discovery

Blood Gulch Outpost...a place made to get rid of soldiers whom don't seem fit for military purposes; with no training on anything military-based and no knowledge of what's happening on the outside.

However, recent theories have been shown that they are indeed communicating with someone from the outside, a "Central Command" of some sorts. I've been studying the electronic airwaves of both teams' communicational devices for the past few days and nights, and I've discovered just recently that it all leads up to a secret computer hidden in an underground experimental facility, where they must've observed both the Blue and Red teams on a daily basis. I have also discovered another facility a few yards away outside the premises of the canyon, leaving for the experimental process of observation to be in fact, true. I'm planning on hacking through the computer's system using the Blue Bases' computer starting tonight. It might take me a few weeks to hack through a few highly-ranked fire walls, but I'll manage. Maybe once I get into those documents, it'll help me find out more about what is going on and what is the reason for doing this so-called "experiment".

Maybe even a reason as to why I am here.

This is Soldier (First Name) (Last Name), signing off.

Once she had finished with her thoughts, she then put away her journal and continued to walk around the canyon, taking in her surroundings and observing the differences between the inside and outside of the canyon's walls. 'It's a shame that they don't get to see this...'

Then, she halted in her tracks, looking up at the sky for a brief moment before using her dominant hand to reach out towards it, the feeling of emptiness and remembrance coursing through her as she felt as if other presences were also reaching out to her, their energy signals weak. 'One day, we'll all see each other again, like we've agreed to. We just have to be patient...'

After staying in that position for a few minutes, the device on her armored forearm started to go off, letting her come back to her senses as she brought her dominant hand back down and looked over at her other arm, using her visor to scan through the invisibility cloak that she has on around the area where the device was as she saw it was her alarm telling her that her daily schedule shift was over. '*sighs* Shift's over. Time to head back.'

Turning off her alarm, she then walked over towards the ledge of the canyon, looking around the area once more before calmly stepping off of it, letting herself plummet down towards the awaiting ground below.

After fee falling for a few short minutes, she then pressed a button on the touchscreen device on her forearm and activated "jet pack" mode, making her back compartment and her armored boots burst out blue-colored flames as she gently let herself land on the dirt-covered ground with a small "thud".

Once scoping around the area to see if her action was left unnoticed, she then pressed another button that turned off her camouflage mode and began her walk back towards her designated area, Blue Base Outpost.
