LI. Whispers of the Dark Side

Chapter Fifty-One
Anakin

I sat reading when Obi-Wan walked in, his face pale and his breath coming in quick gasps. "Anakin," he said, his voice tight with urgency. I immediately stood up, the book slipping from my fingers.

"Is it Mira? Is she okay?" I asked, my heart racing. The thought of anything happening to her sent a chill down my spine.

"Yes, come," Obi-Wan replied, nodding. He turned and rushed out of the room, and I followed close behind, my mind racing with worry.

We made our way through the halls of the Jedi Temple, my pulse pounding in my ears. The familiar surroundings felt surreal in this moment of panic. The whispers of the Force felt charged, as if warning me of something more than just Mira's condition.

As we entered the medical bay, the sterile scent of antiseptic hit me. My gaze quickly found Mira lying in a bed, looking pale but stable. A medical droid hovered nearby, monitoring her condition. Relief washed over me, but the worry still lingered.

"Obi-Wan, what happened?" I asked, my voice low as I approached Mira's bedside. I reached for her hand, intertwining my fingers with hers, feeling the warmth of her skin.

"She was poisoned, Anakin," Obi-Wan explained, his tone serious. "The medical team managed to stabilize her, but she needs time to recover."

I turned my attention back to Mira, watching her chest rise and fall with each breath. "I don't understand. How could this happen?" My voice trembled with emotion.

"There was an attack during her mission. Senator Dodd is involved, and he has connections to the dark side," Obi-Wan replied. "We need to be careful, Anakin. There are forces at play that we don't fully understand."

I nodded, feeling a surge of determination. I would protect Mira no matter what. "I won't let anything happen to her again," I vowed, squeezing her hand gently.

Obi-Wan placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "I know. But we have to be strategic. If Dodd is working with dark forces, we need to gather information before making any moves."

As I sat there, watching Mira sleep, I felt a sense of calm wash over me. I would do whatever it took to keep her safe. The galaxy felt heavy with uncertainty, but I knew that together, we could face whatever darkness lay ahead.

Master Yoda stepped into the room, his small figure commanding respect despite his size. "Speak to me about what she saw and what she heard, has Master Mira done," he said, looking from me to my wife, who lay peacefully in the bed. She looked beautiful even in the hospital gown, her hair framing her face softly.

"Clovis... he is with Separatists, is he not?" I asked, my voice tight with the realization. Yoda nodded, his expression grave.

"True, this is. Strong in the dark side, he is. A web of deception and danger, he weaves. Warned, we must be."

I clenched my jaw, frustration boiling within me. "He was never to be trusted. I should have seen it sooner. If only I had been there..." My voice trailed off, guilt creeping in.

"Regret, we cannot afford," Yoda said, his eyes narrowing as he studied me. "Learn from it, we must. Protect those we care for, we will."

I took a deep breath, trying to refocus my thoughts. "Mira needs to tell us what she experienced. If Clovis is working with the Separatists, then we need to act quickly. They could be planning something dangerous."

Obi-Wan stepped forward, his demeanor serious. "We should wait until she's fully awake. The information she holds could be crucial, but we don't want to overwhelm her."

Yoda nodded in agreement. "Patient, we must be. The path forward will reveal itself."

I looked back at Mira, watching as her chest rose and fell rhythmically. I couldn't shake the feeling of urgency. If Clovis was indeed in league with the Separatists, we were running out of time.

"Master Yoda, do you believe she can sense any of their plans? Maybe she could provide us with insights into their next move?" I asked, my mind racing with possibilities.

"Sensitive to the Force, she is. What she knows, reveal it will. But careful we must be; the dark side seeks to manipulate, to confuse," Yoda warned, his voice steady.

I nodded, determination flooding through me. "Once she wakes, I'll make sure to be by her side. We'll figure this out together."

"Good," Yoda replied, a hint of a smile gracing his features. "Together, you are stronger."

Obi-Wan placed a hand on my shoulder. "We'll figure this out, Anakin. We always do."

As I stood there, surrounded by the wisdom of my mentors and the warmth of my love, I felt a flicker of hope. Whatever awaited us, we would face it as one—together.
