Chapter 11

Peter was a nervous reck on the way to the place that the event would take place. To be honest he was expecting it to be at the palace, so the car ride was not welcomed in any way, only serving to make his nerves worse.

The whole ride Tony was trying to calm the boy, although they both knew that the nerves would only pass with time.

The man opted to reverse the conversation on a more enjoyable topic, like his plan to the next lab session. At least that had taken the boy's mind off the situation. At least until the car had stopped, and the nervous smile returned to Peter's face. Just when Tony was about to open the door peter stopped him

"Mr. Stark, wait! Peter called out. Tony immediately stopped what he was doing looking at Peter with a look of worry

"What's wrong? Did you change your mind, we can go back, if you want" the king said quickly

"Mr. Stark, in what order do you start using the cutlery. Is it from left to right or right to left?" Peter blurted out "Mr. Happy didn't know"

The king was silent for a moment, looking at Peter before he started laughing hard.

"Oh kid, even I don't know that. Eat with your hand for all I care" Tony said between laughs

"Mr. Stark, this is serious. I've never been to a fancy dinner. I don't want to embarrass you"

"Trust me, Peter, nothing you could do would embarrass me, I do that on my own." Mr. Stark reassured Peter leaving the car. Peter took a deep breath before following him.

The king was waiting for him putting an arm on his shoulder guiding him through a red carpet that led to the entrance.

On both sides were full of journalist with cameras flashing in his face. Mr. Stark walked quickly with Peter on his side, ignoring the shouting reporters questions, manly asking who Peter was.

Finally inside, Peter was hit with the warm air in contrast to the cold wave that was outside. Like the palace the inside of the venue was fancy, rich in decoration. Opening a second door it revealed all the guests already seated with only two seats available, clearly waiting for them.

Upon seeing the king all of the guests got up showing their respect.

"Welcome, your highness" they said bowing slightly. It was something that weirder peter out, since on their first meeting, Mr. Stark showed his dislike for such titles forbidding Peter from using it, only tolerating 'Mr. Stark'.

But here he not only welcomed it he recognized it. Mr. Stark sat down on the top of the table, gesturing for peter to seat on his right side, next to him. Only then the king gave permission for the others to seat "you may seat" he said dismissing, not even looking up

Peter felt uncomfortable sitting there next to Mr. Stark because he knew that it was a seat that should be someone important and not some poor kid from section two. On top of that the other occupants of the table kept throwing him looks, not knowing who the kid that came with the king was.

When everyone was seated Mr. Stark began talking "Thank you everyone for coming, before we began I would like to introduce my guest, Peter. He is visiting from the academy and is to be treated with the upmost respect."

Peter's face went red pretty fast as all eyes turned to him "Hi" he said waiving his hand earning him a few amused chuckles

After he dose of embarrassment waiters came delivering food, all of it was so fancy that Peter didn't even knew where to start, he just copy the other people hoping that no one noticed.

The night passed really fast and quickly Peter was starting to feel tired to the point where his eyes were starting to close on their own.

"Alright, I'm taking the Kid home. Thank you all for coming" Mr. Stark announced making Peter open his eyes that he didn't really notice that they were closed

"come on Pete, let's take you home" the king said softly to him helping him get up

Happy was already outside waiting for them with the door open, but Peter was so tired that as soon he sat down in the warm car he passed out.

Tony on the other hand had just finished his least boring dinner gala ever, just having the kid there instantly brought a new air, and everyone that was in the room saw that. Just this night confirmed all he needs to know, Peter was perfect, he was made for him, all he needed to do was making it official.

Tony looked at Peter finding him asleep, the events of the day wore him out. "Everything went, ok?" Happy asked quietly to not disturb Peter, looking at Tony through the rearview mirror.

"Well Happy, I just found myself an heir" Tony responded smiling

"tell me something I don't know" the driver murmured with a slight amusement in his voice

When they arrived at the palace, Peter was still asleep. Tony pondered if he should wake him up or carry him inside. Except he couldn't find in his heart the courage to wake him up. Carefully Tony picked him up, earning only a whimper from Peter before Tony shushed him quietly, calming him down.

That night, Tony slept better than ever, knowing that he already made his decision. He only would need to wait a little longer for Peter to officially move to the palace and be crowned prince, his prince.

Of course, he was gutted to see Peter leave in the morning, but there were something that still need to be prepared before Peter could leave the academy, 'only a few more days' the reassured himself.

Peter, on the other end was very happy. He had a blast at the dinner party with Mr. Stark, and there were so many amazing people that he had discussed with all night long. The food, of course, was also a plus. Peter, never had such experience, with so much etiquette, we had savoured each piece that had come to his mouth.

He was sad when he had to go back to academy, he loved being with Mr. Stark.

"Kid, wait a second" Mr. Stark suddenly stopped him when he was getting in Happy's car. "This is for you" Mr. Stark continued when he turned around.

The king had the golden pin from last night in his hand.

"Are you sure, Mr. Stark?" Peter asked unsure. Surely it was expensive, it was gold and all.

"Of course, Kid, I gave it to you last night, after all" Tony affirmed as he placed the pin on his uniformed.

Peter smiled when he looked down. He had to admit that the golden pin went well with the blue of the uniform.

"Thanks, Mr. Stark" Peter grinned finally entering the car.

The drive was silent and Peter couldn't help but grin at the gold pin stuck in his uniform, it wasn't every day that Peter received gifts.

When Peter arrived at the academy he ignored the looks he was receiving, he was used to it, and of course they all notice that he didn't attend dinner nor breakfast.

Peter shrugged and went outside, enjoying his moments of peace there. One of his favourite places on the academy. It was more often than not, cold, so people didn't come here often. But Peter loved it, he loved to watch the forest that surrounded the grounds even if he couldn't go in there due to the fence wrapped around the academy. Peter still remember the first time he saw a deer passing by, although it ran away the moment that its eyes caught Peter's, it was a short sighting, but Peter was mesmerized by it. They didn't have deer's in section two, they didn't have hardly any animals for the manner, all they have would get killed to feed the population.

So Peter loved coming in here in hopes to see more animals passing by, to enjoy the sound of the birds singing or the leaves ruffling on the threes. Although more times than not he was kicked out back inside due to the rain or cold, like now that the sky was darkening each passing moment, no doubt in the imminence of rain.

The first drop came right before dinner, Peter had spent the majority of the day there writing in the small notebook that he had the ideas that he wanted to show Mr. Stark in the next lab visit. He watched has the ink became smudge with the water before closing up and going inside knowing that if he didn't get out of there quick someone would come get him.

Looking at the time he noticed that it was time for dinner, he made a stop in his room to put down his notebook before making his way to the cafeteria. When he got there it was pretty empty still, Peter had got here early, nevertheless he picked up a tray and sat down enjoying his meal

He was nearly finished when the room had started to fill up, figuring out that it was his cue to leave, he picked out the tray, with the full intention of calling it a day and go to bed.

He was making his way to his room when he encountered Harley, probably going to dinner himself

"hey Peter, I haven't seen you since yesterday" he began as usual

" oh, I was outside" Peter answered

"right-" Harley began before his eyes drifted down widening " Peter, have you been meeting the king?"
