Chapter 16
Chimur walked over with a mug of hot tea and handed it to their Queen as everyone sat around. It felt kind of awkward like they had to act a certain way with her in their home. She carefully took the mug from Chimur and thanked him softly. Oidoas leaned against a far wall with his arms crossed over his chest, "Why haven't you buried Lili properly?" The Empress shifted slightly as she was uncomfortable with the question "Must we discuss this...?" She frowned slightly and took a sip of her drink. Ako walked over to Oidoas and placed her hand on his arm, carefully rubbing his shoulder "Why don't you let her settle in?" Oidoas' temper slowly disappeared into a more mellow tone and he uncrossed his arms before looking at the Empress, "I do apologize for taking you against your will. You looked so desperate, I wanted to help you." She set her mug down, listening to his words. "You helped me years ago by taking me in to be apart of your army. Allowing me to train under your generals and having a place to live." He closed his eyes as the room slowly fell into a silence as the rain began to softly patter against the roof. Rain moved over to the Empress and handed her a small pill "Here, this should help with the healing process." "Thank you Doctor." She gave a weak smile as she took the pill from his hand, taking a swig of her tea and popped the pill in her mouth.
"So how does the white dragon thing works?" Ralph asked as he sat down on the couch with Hachi curled up against the little boy. The Empress turned her head to look at him "Why do you want to know?" "Is it a punishment worse than death?" Mimi asked as she began to eat a late dinner than Chimur quickly whipped up. "Yes it is." She nodded "I take your magic, I take your wings. The white scales burn in direct sunlight meaning that you can only move in the nighttime or on stormy days." "...was Liliana a white dragon?" Mimi looked at Ralph as she remembered that the woman laying in the coffin had pure white hair and guessed that was her scale color. "If you excuse me, I think I will retire to my room." The Empress set down her mug and carefully stood up. Ako had showed her the room she could stay in while she was recovering. "Yes." Oidoas piped up after the Empress left the room. "She was the only white dragon that could fly and stay in the sunlight." "Alright, I think that is enough for one night. Let us all get some rest." Ako spoke as she clapped her hands to vet everyone's attention. "Already?" Mimi whined. "Yes Mimi." Ako smiled as she moved the children along to their own rooms. Hachi followed Ralph to sleep in the same room as they only had a limited amount of room. Chimur waited before he looked at Oidoas "I really don't think kidnapping the Queen was a smart idea." Rain snorted from the other side of the room "It is probably the single dumbest idea that our Alpha has ever had."
Far away a smaller dragon rushed through the summertime thunderstorm, hurrying to a cave as fast as his little legs would carry him.
Once inside the cave, he stopped to dry off and scratch at a couple of his scales. "Is that you Uso-tsuki?" A voice echoed through the cave and made it's way into his ears. "Yes, it's me." He replied as he began to walk forward in a slower pace. The cave expanded the farther in Uso-tsuki walked and he turned a corner to see a white dragon wrapped around a rock that had been warmed in the sun. "I have some information that you might find very useful." "It better be good this time." She growled as she turned her head to look him in the eye. "I promise you this is the best news I have ever heard!" He exclaimed as he sat down near her and grabbed a fish head from their shared food stash. He began to nibble on the head before clearing his throat "I caught sight of the Empress outside of her castle." "Really?" She asked in a lame tone. "The Empress hasn't left her castle in years." "Oh but it is true. And the even better part is that she cannot use magic!" Uso-tsuki snorted a laugh and then stretched out after his meal, trying to warm himself after being out in the cold rain. "What did you say...?" She asked slowly as she raised her head up to look at him. Her tail moved over to make him face her. "She can't use her magic." He repeated and the white dragon stood up swiftly "I knew the universe was going to give me an opening!" She unwrapped from the rock and stretched out her body. "For years I have been training in this cave to get back at her and they hand her to me on a silver platter!" She grinned and scratched at the ground to make sure that her claws were sharpened. "Take me to her."
Uso-tsuki looked up at the white dragon and titled his head "But what if it stops raining?" "As long as the sun stays behind the clouds, I will be perfectly fine." She replied as she started towards the cave entrance with the little brown dragon on her heel. "But what if the sun comes out in the middle of your attack?" "Then I will just have to suffer the loss of a few scales." She answered him as she stopped at the entrance to check the weather. The clouds were very dark and the rain was now coming down in buckets. "Good." She hummed and then glanced at Uso-tsuki, "Lead the way." "Of course." He nodded and made his way out of the cave and off to where he saw the Empress, trapped in her human form.
