Chapter 1

Heath's POV

I've lived in this children's home since I was six years old, because my dad was killed, and as for my mom... I don't know where she is. She turned into a wolf to protect me. She could be dead by now, or even placed into a zoo. I hope to find her one day. My dad always told me she turns into a wolf on a full moon, and that her wolf form has crimson fur that sparkles in the moonlight. That night wasn't a full moon, and yet my mom still managed to turn into a wolf to protect me, just like mothers should.

"HEATH, WAKE UP!" Lucian yelled, shaking him. Heath opened his faint, grey eyes and looked at his roommate.

"Lucian, what time is it?" the red-haired teen asked.

Lucian looked down at his smart watch given to each member by the coach. He was already dressed. "It's seven a.m.," he said with a small smile.

Heath looked at the young boy before him. "The other kids picked on you again?"

The boy nodded. "Yeah. They never pick on you, only me."

Heath touched the boy's shoulder. "Remember, Lucian - you're special."

Lucian blushed a little. "But Heath, you can turn into a wolf during a full moon. That's pretty cool."

"Apart from the rabid part..." mumbled Heath, rubbing his eyes.

At seven forty-five, Lucian and Heath made their way to school with their close friend Duske.

"Did you have a good weekend, Duske?" Lucian asked.

Duske sighed. "I wish it still was..."

Heath gave a small chuckle. "Don't be like that, Duske!"

"Coach will only have a go at us again like he did on Friday," the said teen moaned.

Lucian nodded. "Yeah, I don't like him at all, and I like everyone."

Heath smiled in spite of the comments of the others. "Oh, come on, you two!"

"Well, how come he's got the title of 'coach' - he don't act like one," Duske pointed out.

The youngest tried not to laugh. "Yeah, that's kind of true!"

As the three boys walked into the gates, they were welcomed by Willow.

"Morning," he smiled.

"Good morning, Willow," Lucian replied.

"Hello, Heath, Duske," Willow continued.

"Morning," both Duske and Heath followed.

'Really don't know how he's a morning person,' Duske thought to himself as he fixed his hair.

In the distance, the boys were being watched by a suspicious man in a white suit. His eyes focused on the captain.

"Hmm, a power... in fact, a wolf power.  The other three, I have no need for, but Heath there has a power I like in him - a very strong power," he chuckled as he went back to his seat.

"I think somone is watching us," Lucian spoke.

The other boys scanned the area briefly. "No one is here," Willow answered.

"No, someone was watching us. Not from the grounds, but from the windows. I saw him, I swear," Lucian convinced as he looked up at the windows trying to look in them all. "I can feel it, I really can. You have to believe me...

"This isn't normal..."

"Alright, calm down. We will go in the changing room and speak about it," Duske told them as he pushed Lucian along.

Othman Laspic sneered as he watched them go inside. "You'd better be scared... you foolish little boys."
