The Tutorial 2
Sorry for taking so long, I've been distracted with some other stories. For those of you that know and love Second Life Ranker, I'm afraid this story is going to diverge quite far from the main plotline. For example, there will be no one horned tribe, which means no Edora (T-T). There will be quite a few made up moments and scenarios, just because Izuku doesn't have military medical training like Cain, or the military experience he has either. Bathory's vampiric dagger will be Izuku's main weapon, and it will work slightly differently from the canon one. - Author trash notes.
It did not take Izuku long to beat Block B. With his greatly enhanced senses and Draconic Eyes, Izuku was able to 'see' flaws in an object's structure. These flaws allowed Izuku to exploit weak points, and take down the mechanical puppets in Section B without issue.
Izuku cleared it in less than a day, and moved straight through the waiting area without rest.
Izuku had a mask and hood, so that his dad's unruly green hair and his signature freckles wouldn't be recognised. He still drew attention however, as many people were curious about the latecomer.
Izuku ignored them and entered Block C.
The greenette was nervous, as this was the most important part of the Tutorial's beginning.
Block C was where the difficulty really spiked.
Entering the block, players were given a choice of 5 doors. The door furthest left was the easiest, and the black door to the right was the hardest.
Hisashi had chosen the middle door, which he regretted later upon learning what was through the black door.
Bathory's vampiric dagger.
A hidden piece.
The ancient ranker Bathory, feared by all. He was called a vampire because of his unique weapon, his vampiric dagger, which he used to drain the magic power and skills of his opponents.
Izuku entered the black door.
*You have chosen the black route.*
*Cross the pond and successfully reach the other side safely.*
Izuku looked over the water. It was dark, but not enough to impair his vision too much. The 'pond' was more like a small lake. Using his draconic eyes, Izuku learned about the pond.
*Proficiency increased!*
*A pond that was accidentally created by the giant Mimireu as he spilled some water he had been transporting. The water is uninhabitable by living creatures.*
Izuku looked to the right, where he spotted a 'flaw' on the wall. He pressed his hand to the mark and opened s hidden passageway.
*You have discovered the hidden passage of ice and fire.*
*300 karma acquired!*
Izuku stepped through the passageway, and quickly came across large patches of white moss.
"Dad researched the hidden piece for block C... White moss and monster organs. On their own, they make you sick when ingested. But if eaten together they have incredible magical properties... The monsters' main diet consists of white moss, so they've evolved to be able to handle eating it.." Izuku muttered.
He gathered up several pouches of white moss. There were undoubtedly more places further inside full of it, but it would be better to have some on hand already.
There was a light clattering from behind.
*Where there's moss there's monsters...* He thought.
Izuku turned, coming face to mandibles with a huge, red centipede.
*A fire type monster has appeared!*
*Hidden quest!*
*Inside the room of frost and fire, there are peculiar monsters that rely on the white moss as a staple food source. If they were to wander outside of the dungeon, the ecosystems would suffer. Please eliminate as many monsters as possible.*
*Rewards will vary depending on the number of monsters defeated.*
Izuku rolled to the side, dodging the centipede's bite. He activated draconic eyes, looking for weaknesses.
There was a flaw, on its underbelly. Where it's front legs joined it's torso, the joints were unarmoured, right next to it's heart.
The centipede lunged again, and Izuku slid beneath it, carving upwards with his knife. He wedged the blade between the armour plates, and cut across the big bug's body, carving its heart out.
Izuku rolled out from beneath it as it thrashed about, blood spraying everywhere. The centipede collapsed, and Izuku got to his feet slowly.
He approached the monster, pulling out a pouch of white moss. He reached into it's gaping wound and cut out it's heart.
Izuku grimaced, stuffing white moss into his mouth and taking a bite of tough, bloody muscle.
*You have ingested the red centipede's heart. It synergizes with the white moss to provide a new beneficial effect.*
Izuku could feel his muscles and bones toughening beneath his skin.
*You have obtained a clue for the 'heart of fire, crest of frost' quest.*
________
*You have successfully hunted the Infrasonic bats.*
*Number of monsters hunted: 147*
Izuku sighed, stuffing a wad of moss and a tiny bat heart into his mouth.
*Proficiency of 'heart of fire, crest of frost' has increased!*
_________
*You have entered a high level area, caution is advised!*
*The ants sense your presence.*
*Emergency quest!*
*Cull the colony.*
*Bonuses will be given if number of ants killed exceeds expected limit.*
___________
Izuku spent an hour roaming the caves made by the ant colony, crushing any of the giant ants he came across.
He was getting closer to his goal, the greatest hidden piece in the entire Tutorial.
*WARNING*
*The Ant Queen turns her attention to the intruder. The royal guards move alongside their leader.*
"Current objective: Survive." Izuku said wryly.
The biggest ant yet came barreling around the corner. It was only thanks to the increased stats from ant hunting that he was able to dodge.
The royal guards weren't far behind the queen, and were each around half the queen's size, still almost double the regular giant ants.
Izuku dodged and weaved between the armoured beasts, but his dagger couldn't penetrate their toughened armour. Where the smaller worker ants had softer, lighter shells, these royal guards were built for battle.
A door caught his eye, just as he jumped over the queen's snapping mandibles.
Izuku grinned, darting for the door.
The royal guards tried to catch him, but Izuku's speed was unmatched by any monster or player.
The greenette reached the door, yanking it open and tumbling through. He slammed it shut, listening to the thudding and scraping of the royal guards trying to get inside.
*You have found a hidden chamber. 1,000 karma is awarded.*
Izuku looked around from the door. It was a small room, with an ornate coffin in the centre. A statue stood at the coffin's head, holding an ornate crimson dagger.
Wordlessly, Izuku stepped forwards. This was it. The hidden piece high Rankers knew of but couldn't obtain. One of the most powerful artifacts in the Tower itself, let alone the Tutorial.
Hisashi had found something about the dagger though. A secret, hidden away in a few old texts.
Bathory's vampiric dagger wasn't a weapon. It was a power that needed to be harnessed.
The dagger was said to choose it's wielder, but Izuku's father had found a way to force the power to bend to your will.
Izuku took the crimson blade from the statue's hand. Pain immediately shot down Izuku's arm. The dagger was draining his lifeforce, feeding itself.
Izuku growled, raising the weapon and stabbing it into his left palm.
The blade hungrily absorbed Izuku's blood, and sank deeper into his left hand, the crimson blade disappearing entirely, the wound closing up.
*Bathory's vampiric dagger (true) acquired!*
*Rank: Power*
*Number: 72*
*An ability wielded by the old vampire lord, who once shook the very foundation of the power.*
*The dagger is able to steal and absorb the skills, experience and lifeforce from others. When used, wounds will be healed, stamina recovered, fatigue eased and skills will be partially stolen from others, and transferred to the user.*
Izuku exited the tomb with a grin on his face. The ants, upon sensing him once more, attacked.
The new vampiric lord raised his left hand with a smirk.
"Devour."
