-Mumbai Lights

The MumbaiLights city lightshow is fast upon us now, with the slated date being 14th December. The system involves multiple wireless communication based lights attached to various buildings that dot the Mumbai skyline. These lights are controlled by a central hub and run on solar-energy, making MumbaiLights the biggest, grandest and most importantly most energy efficient light show the world has ever seen. Fog and sound effects complete the program, which can be viewed free of cost by anyone in the city at the time.

The best vantage points to witness the whole show are specified in the MumbaiLights website.

The project is the culmination of the hard-work and dedication of many technicians from both India and abroad. The chief technical and artistic adviser, Jacob T. Fisk has left his teaching post at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology for a period of three months, just to work on this project.

"This project just goes to show that beautiful spectacles can be created using completely energy sustainable methods." he tells us. "Art is always worth it and big art can be appreciated by all people, without affecting the environment and the world around us."

The project also uses various psychological colour-based theories in order to create a light and sound show like no other. More information at http://www.mumbailights.org

Crime

-Bomb Threats

Three more bomb threats have been received by the Mumbai Civil Service and Police Force within the past two months.

The Police have been extra vigilant and have been keeping a caferul watch on areas susceptible to such threats.

"We can certainly understand the concerns people may have regarding issues such as this," DCP Vikram Sethi says. "But there is no reason to worry. Harmless threats such as these are quite common, but after the events of 2008, we are keeping a close watch on this and we are making doubly and triply sure that no such issues will affect the population and their day-to-day activities."

The police have been conducting regular searches on hotels, malls, restaurant complexes, hospitals and other busy public places and the police presence on the streets have been increased.

"It would be optimal if the people avoid crowded public places as far as possible." he continues. "We also wish that the populace try to be extra vigilant and notify us immediately in case they spot any suspicious activity. But other than that, please do carry on your daily routines. The main purpose of these threats is just to raise undue alarm and to disrupt the customs of our metropolis. So keep careful watch and go on with your lives.
