FREEDOM!

You are not free if you ask another man for freedom.~ Malcolm X

Finally! After two weeks of hospital food and drinks I'm finally free of all the sterile smell and white cleanliness.

Hi everyone my name is Sarah May I'm 18, my mom died giving birth to me and my dad was murdered when I was 16. My grandma passed away last week from what I've heard but I doupt that very much.
I start to walk from room 665, my room for 13 days, I was so glad I didn't get room 666 for two weeks all I heard was screaming which I didn't dare to check out because it is still going on.
I walk down the hallways to the front desk a lady looks up at me and smiles. "I'm glad you are doing better Miss May. Want to know the date like every day you have been able to visit me?" The lady behind the desk is...I mean was my mom's best friend. "Yes June I'd love to know the day and date." I go through the door to her office area and hugs her.
"The date is November 6th, the day is Thursday." June reaches under her desk a and hands me a wrapped item. "June what is this?" I look at June surprised.
"Its your birthday present from your mom, she said while pregnant with you that she wanted to have a 18th birthday gift for you. So here, she loves you a lot Sarah." I slowly take the present and she hands me an envelope.

I open the envelope and pull out a letter.

Dear Sarah,

I know you never knew me, I love you my beautiful flower, you are 18 your are now an adult, take care of yourself, watch your back though I know you are a beautiful blossom stay safe for mama!

With care,

Mary May mother without child

I smiled but wondered what that last part meant.

"June what does that last part mean?" I handed her the note. She sighed.

"Sarah your mom knew she was gonna die giving birth to you." I open the present and in it lay a gold rose charm with a chain attached to it.

"This is beautiful..." I take it out and puts it on.

"I must he on my way June have a nice day ok?" I kissed her cheek and walked out of her office.

I walked through the double doors and walked to a bench I sat down on bit and looked around. It was nice out today with a cloud blocking the sun.

I got up and started walking home but someone shouted out to me. "NO ONE IS FREE IF YOU ARE ASKING A MAN FOR YOUR FREEDOM!" It was an old man probably in his 70s or mid 80s. The man smiled at me.

"Malcolm X. I known old man I know..." I continued walking.
