Chapter 6

Just south of the Overworld village was a small yet beautiful quiet beach. The sparkling blue ocean seemed to stretch out forever, and the waves were calm and soft.

"...This really is a nice place, isn't it?" Adam said. Him and Ty stood alone at the beach, watching the sun begin to set on the horizon.

"......Yeah," Ty said after a long moment.

Ty had taken a little too long to answer that. Adam looked over at him, concerned.

"You're really worried about this, huh?" Adam sighed.

"Something's on the other side, Adam," Ty pointed out. His dark eyes were fixed straight ahead.

"But are they strong enough, though?" Adam asked. He chuckled. "And how do we even know that they're planning to atack?"

"Those two demons that Mitch described..." Ty went on. "They tried to attack him, and probably take him prisoner."

"You're coming to conclusions too quickly," Adam said. "Unless..." He slowly turned to Ty. "You sound like you know a lot about this world."

Ty sighed. Adam knew him too well.

"Uh...well, you see," Ty explained, glancing down at the pale sand below him, "During the war, I went to that world once and spoke with their Devil. I'd hoped to form an alliance with him."

Adam arched an eyebrow. "So not only have you voluntarily ventured into that world before, but you directly spoke with their Devil?"

Ty shrugged. "Well, we never formed the alliance, anyways. He said no and tried to set me on fire."

"It's a good day when you're on fire," Adam mused. "So, anyways, can you tell me anything about the other world?"

Ty thought for a moment. "Uh, well, it's called the Nether. And there's a lot of fire there. And their Devil likes fire. A lot. ...And that's it, really."

"Huh," Adam said, staring out at the ocean. The sky was turning a deep pinkish hue.

"I wasn't really sure it was the Nether until I heard Mitch's story," Ty admitted.

"At least we know now," Adam pointed out. He continued to gaze out at the ocean, where the sun was nearly completely submerged under the horizon. The stars were beginning to appear.

Stars. Adam remembered that Ty liked stars. There were stars everywhere in the End. So Adam brought them to the Overworld, too.

"Has Jason come back yet?" Ty asked suddenly.

Adam blinked. "He said he'd be back before sunset."

Ty gave Adam a blank stare and pointed to the night sky.

"Yeah, I figured out that much already," Adam sighed. "Maybe he went back to the castle...?"

"Jason would've found us here already," Ty said. His tail twitched, which Adam had come to realize meant he was worried.

"You don't think...?" Adam asked, his tone suddenly very serious.

"If a kid like Mitch could escape that place, Jason would be invincible against them," Ty pointed out.

"Mitch could've gotten lucky," Adam muttered, beginning to pace in the sand. "Not even you know how strong the Nether could be."

"If he's not back by tomorrow morning, I'm going to look for him," Ty declared.

"No you're not," Adam shook his head. "Both of us need to stay here. Can't let our guard down."

"Then we'll send some of the Angels out to search," Ty sighed. "In the Overworld, of course. No way we're going to let anyone through those portals. In fact...word of this should not get out to the public, besides the Angels...and Mitch and Jerome, but they know to stay quiet."

"Yeah," Adam agreed, and stopped pacing. "Yeah, that's a good idea."

"Let's head back to the castle, then," Ty sugested, before worry got the best of them both.

"Good idea," Adam agreed. The two spread their wings, leathery purple and feathery gold, and took off.
