I trudged along the dusty, hard dirt road with the sun beaming down on me like a laser. My throat was as dry as the landscape before me with its cacti and literal tumble weeds rolling around.

I couldn't believe I'd come this low. With no way to communicate with the world, no food or water and for heavens sake one of my shoes missing. My god damn shoe!!

With the ground scorching my left foot I looked out into the distance. All I could see was miles and miles of sand, rock and some more sand.

To make matters worse I had no clue how I got here or where here was exactly. Believe it or not the last thing I remember before waking up in this empty desert was going to sleep in my amazingly, comfy bed after a normal, mundane day of my life as Willow Walker the sixteen year old teenager.

But I do know for a fact I definitely was nowhere near my small, green and friendly town back home.

Anyway back to the predicament at hand. I had to find something, anything that could help me get back to civilisation. I'd even settle for some water.

With thoughts of cold glasses of water I trudged on with my head hanging low from exhaustion. Out of nowhere I suddenly slammed head first into something hard.

I looked up but I couldn't see anything but desert. Bewildered and confused I stuck my hand out and made contact with a solid wall.

What the...

I pressed against it harder and felt it give way slightly. Filled with a strength I didn't know I still possessed I pushed against it harder, my eyes closed from the effort until it finally gave way. I flew forward onto something crunchy and what spelt like the fresh scent of leaves. No it couldn't be, I was in a desert.

I flickered my eyes open ever so slightly and indeed it was in fact leaves.

Quickly I got up off the leaf covered ground and I couldn't believe what I saw. I was in a damn forest!!! A forest!! What?!?

I swirled around to where the desert should have been but all I saw was trees. I also picked up on the sound of birds, insects and other unfamiliar animals.

Dumb struck I just stood there in wonder and awe. To my credit it was a truly magical looking forest with its beautiful greenery and shade. Glorious shade!! It was a welcome relief from the scorching sun of the desert. However, I couldn't ignore the strange animal sounds and that I still had no clue what just happened and how it was even possible.

Then it came to me, I was dreaming!! That had to be it.

I pinched myself in hope that I would wake up but all it did was hurt.

Wait why would I chose to feel pain if I was dreaming. Wouldn't I chose to feel like only happiness and all that?

I guess I'll just go with the flow. If it's just a dream I'll soon wake up in my bed like any other day, otherwise.. no I can't think about that. To distract myself from my thoughts I stepped forward hesitantly. When nothing happened I took another and another until I was walking through the forest.

And it was not as magical as it had once seemed as my already messy hair and clothes kept getting snagged by branches and twigs. However, I ignored it and trudged on.

After about half an hour of stumbling and falling, nothing had change and I was losing what little hope I had left. But then out of nowhere I heard the sound of crunching leaves coming from in front of me. I came to a halt and listened closer and indeed I was right, it definitely was the distinct sound of footsteps. What could it be? A wild animal? A person? Was it going to kill me? Will it help me?

I guess I would be finding out very soon judging by the sound of the footsteps coming closer.
