Chapter One
For years, Ichimatsu Matsuno had stayed silent about his feelings. His feelings weren't the ones most people would expect either. They weren't the typical romantic feelings or "I'm scared to fall in love!" feelings. His feelings were a much darker subject.
If Ichimatsu could have those other silly feelings, he would gladly take them to replace the daily burden on his soul that he had carried around with him for so many years.
He had never considered himself worthy of bothering any of his family about his depression. After all, Ichimatsu felt that he was insignificant to the world. His existence didn't matter at all.
So finally, one day, he decided to climb to the top of his ten story apartment building. There was no point in continuing to carry a burden that would never go away. Ichimatsu knew that the only way he could get rid of this burden would be to kill himself. It was a simple solution, really.
After all, the pain would only be felt for a moment. Then it would be all gone. And if there was an afterlife, Ichimatsu would be in a "better place".
Tears ran down his face as he felt the apartment's roof door slam heavily behind him. And without another thought, he ran towards the edge of the roof, kicking his shoes off.
"This is all pointless!" he rasped angrily, and just as he was about to jump, he realized that he wasn't the only one on the roof about to commit suicide.
He saw a boy around his age who had dark brown hair and a yellow hoodie and blue shorts on.
And despite his own feelings, Ichimatsu cried out, "Hey! Just don't do it!"
The boy turned around, sullenly staring at Ichimatsu. His eyes were red and puffy from crying.
Cautiously, Ichimatsu approached the yellow hooded boy.
"What's your name?" Ichimatsu asked the stranger.
"J-Jyushimatsu..." the boy stammered weakly.
"And what's your problem?" Ichimatsu demanded, though his voice was kind.
"I thought...I thought this person I really liked...I thought we were meant for each other! All I wanted was for her to love me back!" the boy sobbed loudly.
"You idiot!" Ichimatsu yelled, jerking the boy away from the edge of the roof. "How dare you get here before me! You're just upset because you can't have what you want! Go on in life! Move on! There's going to be something better for you!"
Jyushimatsu looked up weakly at Ichimatsu then smiled, laughing a little.
"I feel better after telling someone about it," Jyushimatsu said with a smile. "I think..I think I'll wait just awhile before I do anything."
Ichimatsu blew his breath, letting out a sigh of relief as he watched Jyushimatsu enter the apartment building with his shoes on again.
"I think I'll wait too..." Ichimatsu spat. "I don't feel like it'd be right to do something so rash right now..."
