Chapter 20

Jimin:

What have I done? What have I done?

Jimin clutches and pulls his hair painfully, tears falling hot and fast down his face.

It's almost 2 am and he has practice tomorrow, but he can't sleep. Whenever he closes his eyes, he recalls her terrified face. Those wide eyes, her heaving chest, her hands held up to protect herself. How did he miss the signs? How did he not notice she really wasn't interested? Was it really that hard for him to look past his love for her?

He recalls their messages, their cute date and late-night calls. The number of times he messed up during the world tour because he was either thinking about her or because he was so tired from staying up talking to her.

Where did it all go wrong?

Jimin is sure that's the question that he needs to be answered, but he doesn't want to bother her anymore. Could he ask one of the members? Would they even know?

"Jimin?"

Jimin looks up at the sudden blinding light. Hoseok stands in the doorway, looking into the dark room seriously. The sight startles him. He thought Hobi was across from him in his own bed.

"Jimin? Are you still up?"

"Hobi..." Jimin sniffles, wincing as Hoseok flicks on the lights, "I thought you were in bed asleep,"

"I was working," Hoseok mumbles, walking over to Jimin, sitting on his own bed across from Jimin, "What's wrong?"

"Hobi..." Jimin mumbles, "When did she stop loving me?"

Hoseok takes a moment, looking down at his own hands.

"Let me ask you a question first," Hoseok looks up at him, his normally grinning face looks strange this serious, "Do you need to be comforted or do you want the truth?"

Ouch.

Jimin bites his lips, unsure what he wants anymore.

"The truth," Jimin takes a deep shaky breath, "I need the truth to move on,"

Hoseok nods his head wisely, obviously impressed by Jimin's response.

"Well, I don't think she loved you, Jimin," Hoseok murmurs, "She definitely liked you, maybe a lot. But she didn't love you,"

"Do you think she could have?" Jimin roughly wipes the tear that slides down his face at his words, "Do you think we would have ended up like this either way?"

"It's hard to say," Hoseok leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees, "She might have started loving you in different circumstances,"

Jimin lets out a sob, clutching his hurt chest.

Lilly...

Hoseok moves over to Jimin's bed, putting his arm over his shoulders.

"But Jimin," Hoseok pats his back, "That's the past. There's nothing you can do about it now. All you can do is learn from it,"

Jimin nods, leaning into Hoseok's shoulder.

Hoseok is right, Jimin knows he's right. But he wants to take it all back. He wants to start again.

"Was it because I was touring?" Jimin asks.

"No," Hoseok murmurs.

"Was it because I kept asking her to move with me?"

"I don't know," Hoseok sighs.

"Was it... was it because I ignored her for so long?"

Hoseok doesn't respond this time, so Jimin stops leaning on him, looking into his face. Hoseok is expressionless, but Jimin understands what he doesn't want to say.

"I see," Jimin sighs, standing up.

"Where are you going?" he asks, his eyes wide and wary.

"I just need some time to think," he murmurs, grabbing his phone and jacket from his bed and heading to the door. He pauses in the doorway, looking back at Hoseok. Hoseok looks upset with himself, but Jimin smiles at him.

"It's okay, Hobi," He sighs, "Thank you,"

Hoseok feels a little consoled as he lets him leave.

. . . . .

Lilly:

"Yah! Lilly!" I spin around, looking to see who is calling out to me.

"Vanilla?" I smirk, "What's up?"

"All the producers are going to have a drink after work today," He grins, "I want to invite you,"

"Just the producers?" I ask curiously.

"Yeah, and a few of the other Bighit staff," He indicates the girls standing at reception, gossiping loudly. I smile to myself, unsure whether we will be very good friends.

I can already see the personality clashes happening.

Maybe I shouldn't judge people so quickly?

Suddenly, one of the girls turns to look in our direction. Her eyes land on mine with such furious hatred I'm surprised I don't feel the heat from her gaze. I frown at her, silently asking why she's glaring at me so aggressively, but she just looks away, rushing off to the staff room.

Maybe I should judge people so quickly.

"Uh..." I mumble, looking at Vanilla, but he doesn't give any indication that he saw her staring at us.

"So, wanna go?" He grins.

"I guess," I smirk, "I'll just text Yoongi,"

Vanilla nods and moves away, leaving me to head to the elevators. Once I am in my studio and packing up for the day, I text Yoongi.

LILLY: I'm going out drinking with my work colleagues. I'll be home late.

I put my phone away, picking up my jacket and handbag. Suddenly, my phone vibrates again.

YOONGI: I'm your colleague too. Can I come?

LILLY: Yoongi, it's just the producers.

YOONGI: I am also a producer.

LILLY: Bub.

YOONGI: Fine, but only because you called me Bub. I'll send out a search party after 12, okay?

LILLY: Ha... fine.

I put my phone back in my bag, grinning like a kid. He can be so adorable sometimes. I just wish he trusted me more.

I push all thoughts of Yoongi aside as I step out into the hall. Everyone is waiting for me at the end.

"Let's go," Vanilla says as they turn and start walking towards the exit. I follow them.

They take me to a food stand nearby. It has soju and a variety of Korean dishes. It's good enough.

It's nice spending time with my colleagues. I'm surprised they want to spend time with me outside of work after the scandal. Not that they have changed since the news. The only one who seems to be affected by it is Vanilla.

He's very normal in front of me and when he's speaking to me, but I seem to catch him brooding by himself. Not to mention his short fuse.

FLASHBACK:

"Yah, what are you doing?" I jumped as Vanilla entered my studio.

"What?" I asked.

"You're meant to be with Bang PD-nim. Why are you still here?" He yelled, startling me.

"I didn't know! Aren't you supposed to tell me these things?" I snapped back, frowning at the unfairness of the situation.

"I'm telling you now, aren't I?" He spat back, "Go!"

"Fuck," I mumbled, jumping from my chair and rushing from the room.

I frown as I recall the memory. He has been like this since the article came out.

Is he that close to Yoongi? Is he scared that I'll ruin his future?

I push these thoughts aside as I begin conversing with everyone.

"So, Min Lilly, Are you enjoying work in Korea?" Bang PD asks, offering everyone a shot of soju.

"Yes, definitely," I laugh, "But my English is starting to get shaky,"

The other music producers laugh, particularly Hyowon and Dong-hyuk.

"Yeah, it gets like that," Hyowon murmurs, "Cheers!"

"Cheers!" We all clink our glasses and take the shot.

"So, Lilly," Vanilla begins, "How's Yoongi?"

The others go silent, particularly the two receptionists that joined us tonight.

"He's doing well," I murmur, frowning slightly, "Why do you ask?"

"It's just... after the scandal... there has been tension between the BTS members," He raises his eyebrows at me suggestively.

"And Yoongi hasn't been going to practice either," One of the receptionists adds, looking a little haughty.

I smirk, turning my attention to her.

"We haven't been introduced yet," I smirk, looking at Vanilla, "Are you going to introduce the receptionists, Vanilla?"

Her eyes narrow and sweep over Vanilla.

"Hasn't he told you his real name yet?" Hyowon jumps in, "Wow. Firstly, Vanilla's real name is Kim Shinhyun. And these two ladies are Lee Geumsu and Choi Jiyoo,"

Hyowon indicates to them. The haughty girl is Choi Jiyoo. I ignore them and laugh at Vanilla.

"What? Kim Shinhyun? Ha, no wonder you didn't want me to know," I laugh as Vanilla continues to stare at me. Hyowon changes the subject, talking about the last album's success and how BTS will be working on their own solos so we will only have to work hard again if one of them asks one of us to help them.

"Of course, BTS has a few good music producers already, so only two, maybe three of you will be asked to work with them," Bang PD finishes as we cheer another shot of soju.

After another hour of talking about nonsense and music, the producers begin yawning.

"It's time for bed!" Hyowon yawns as the other producers nod in agreement, looking down at their watches and phones.

"We'll head off," Band PD stands with the other producers, leaving me with Vanilla and Jiyoo.

"Goodnight," I bow, unable to stand because of the amount of alcohol I have consumed.

"Goodnight," They smile as they leave. In my drunken state, I look up at who is left.

As I thought, Jiyoo and Vanilla are all that remain.

"Why do you glare at me?" I slur, taking another shot of soju.

Vanilla smirks, glancing at Jiyoo with humorous eyes. He stands and moves to the chair beside me, the one Band PD just vacated.

He shuffles the chair closer, leaning into the table so our elbows are forced to touch. Jiyoo remains where she is, glued to her phone.

"Hey, I just asked you a question!" I snap, frowning as I try to get a better look at her.

"Stop it," Vanilla smirks as he grasps my hand. I look down at his entwined fingers, swaying slightly.

"Yah, yah, yah," I murmur, grinning as I tug from his grip, "What are you doing? I have a boyfriend,"

"Shut up," Jiyoo murmurs, her phone almost directly in front of her face.

"Stop hiding behind your phone and talk to me," I snicker, "Are you a fan of BTS? Do you think Yoongi is your oppa?"

I giggle, falling into Vanilla as I become dizzy.

I sigh, closing my eyes.

That's my last memory.

. . . . .

Vanilla:

"You reckon she'll remember this tomorrow?" He smirks, looking up at Jiyoo.

"I think she's passed out," Jiyoo smirks, taking another photo.

"Should I kiss her?" He snickers, placing his hand on Lilly's face for another photo. Jiyoo ignores him, taking more photos.

"You're a really good model," Jiyoo smirks, "But not as good as Yoongi,"

"Yah, stop talking about him like that," Vanilla frowns, pretending to kiss Lilly for another photo, "He won't like you if you act like that. Lilly got him because she didn't know who BTS was,"

"No way!" Jiyoo snaps, pouting angrily, "He only likes her because she liked Jimin,"

"Maybe," Vanilla shrugs, pushing Lilly onto the table so she's no longer resting on him. She murmurs incoherently, but Vanilla and Jiyoo don't pay her any attention.

"Who should I send these to? Dispatch? Bang PD-nim?" Jiyoo sings happily as she scrolls through her phone.

"We decided on dispatch, didn't we?"

"Yeah, yeah, I know," She pouts again, trying to be cute. However, she looks too haughty to successfully appear cute.

"Did you call them earlier?" He asks, shuffling over to look at her phone.

"Yeah, I received a confirmation message from them just before," Jiyoo giggles, "They want me to send the photos as soon as possible. Help me choose some,"

Vanilla shuffles closer as they scroll through the 20 photos on her phone.

As they narrow it down to 5 photos, Lilly sits up suddenly, looking between the two of them.

Vanilla and Jiyoo watch her warily.

"Hey..." She slurs and hiccups before mumbling into silence.

"Let's get you home, Lilly," Vanilla says loudly, grabbing Lilly's arm and leading her away to a waiting taxi.

"Yoongi," Lilly grins, suddenly hugging Vanilla around the middle, "I love you,"

Jiyoo lifts her phone to take another photo, smirking at the quality of the shot.

"All right," Vanilla smirks as he helps her into the cab. Both Jiyoo and Vanilla follow her in.

As they reach her apartment, Vanilla can't stop grinning. The photos look so good, he's starting to question whether they are real or not.

"Get home safely, Lilly," Vanilla grins as he pushes her out the door, watching her stumble for a moment before wobbling over to the garage that leads up to her apartment.

He closes the door behind her, turning to Jiyoo.

"You reckon this will work?" He whispers.

"I'm this close to asking you if you're dating Lilly," Jiyoo pinches her fingers together grinning childishly.

He nods as they drive off, not concerned about Lilly or if she'll make it inside safely.
