Chapter twelve

Mark and Amy were in the boat as Mark had already started to feel like he was in love, especially with Amy, though he wasn't sure if Amy loved him. Nervousness suddenly overcame Mark as he wasn't sure where he was going to go.

"This is actually my favorite place to be," Amy said. Sometimes I come here because I want peace and quiet," Mark listened as Amy continued to talk, this time however, Sean wanted to start setting the mood and began getting some of the aquatic animals to make romantic noises. Amy sighed as she and Mark watched fireflies appearing around them, the different aquatic noises filled the silence as Mark knew what Sean had been trying to do. Amy was rowing the boat until they arrived at a willow tree. "So, you really can't talk?" Amy asked.
Mark shook his head; he was upset because he wanted so badly to talk to Amy though he felt that even if he had been able to talk to him then maybe he'd probably have a hard time trying to figure out what to talk about. As the noises played in the background, Mark and Amy locked eyes and leaned into kiss each other, however what Mark didn't realize was that Flotsam and Jetsam were watching their every move. Down in the ocean, Ursula was watching and she could tell that Amy actually loved Mark and she wasn't about to let her spell be unbroken.

"Flotsam! Jetsam!" Ursula exclaimed. "Stop them!" Flotsam and Jetsam swam fast toward the boat and quickly tipped it over as they were inches away from the kiss. Amy gasped as she popped her head up while Mark kept floating. He brought Amy back to the shore as they had to get changed immediately. Sean groaned, knowing they were so close to kissing, but something seemed off. They couldn't have tipped it over, something had been wrong. As Sean watched, he looked over and saw the end of an eel's fin.

"What are you up to?" Sean asked himself as he ducked under the water and quietly started following the eels that looked exactly like Flotsam and Jetsam. If those slippery eels were the reason behind Mark and Amy unable to kiss then it wasn't good. Sean swam and hid behind a large rock and watched as the eels hit their tails together trying to mimic a high five.

"Excellent," Says Flotsam. "Our mistress's plan is falling into place,"

"Let usss go back and tell Ursula," Jetsam responded. "That way she can start on the next part of the plan," Sean's eyes widened as he began to put two and two together. Ursula wasn't planning to let Mark and Amy get together, as a matter of fact she would much rather have Mark as a servant compared to letting him have his own soul back. Sean mentally chastised himself as he was determined to help Mark fall in love. Quickly, he swam to the surface and made his way back to shore where he transformed willingly from merman to human. Getting out of the water, he had gone back to the castle where he saw Colby staring out at the ocean, he was nowhere near Amy which was good. However, he had a bad feeling about it, Sean walked into the large castle and started making his way inside. The minute he walked inside, he saw Mark and Amy heading up the stairs.

"Mark!" Sean called out as he raced over to the staircase. "I need to talk to you! It's important!" Mark looked over at Sean with an eyebrow raised. He turned toward Amy with a look that said excuse me. Amy nodded knowing what Mark was trying to say. Amy turned and walked into her bedroom as Mark walked downstairs and looked at Sean. "I know that you want to spend time with her but you need to know something!" Mark just tried to brush Sean off. He didn't want to deal with any of Sean's lectures, not while he had been so close to getting the girl of his dreams to fall in love with him. While Sean was trying to explain to Mark the situation, Colby walked along the beach. His thoughts continued to circle back to Mark and Amy.

"It's not fair!" Colby said out loud. "Amy and I were meant to be betrothed but now some new guy is coming into the picture and it's completely unfair!"

"You sound upset," says a voice he hadn't recognized.
Colby turned and looked over to see a woman with a white dress and a shell necklace. "Is it about this girl you're so fond of?"

"Who are you?" Colby asked.

"Oh no one, just someone who might be able to help you," responds the woman.

"How would you help me?" Colby questioned.

"Well if you want the girl then you should have this," the woman said as she took off the necklace and handed it over to Colby. "Give this to Amy as a gift, and i'm sure that everything will easily work out for you," Colby looked at the necklace for a bit, it was gold and slightly heavy but it also had a slight cool feel to it.

"Thank you," says Colby. "But if you don't mind me asking who is Mark really?"

"You'll find it tomorrow when the sun sets tomorrow make sure that if you want to make this work the wedding must take place at sunset," the woman responded and started walking away. Though Colby had been unaware that who he just talked to was the sea witch. A smirk appeared on his face as he walked away from the beach and went straight to the castle.
