Emma was frustrated with her luck. Just when her only problem was finding a way to "get out" of school, something bigger had to happen. 

At first, she wondered why Alice and Leslie couldn't see the ninjas. But then she remembered that even with her ninja eyes she could barely see them. How could they? Even without training, Emma had better senses. But that didn't matter now. With difficulty, she managed to explain the situation to Leslie and Alice. Immediately, Alice came up with a plan.

Emma raised her hand, ready to do anything to complete the task at hand.

 "Mrs. Janise?” she began, her voice smooth as a mother’s lullaby. “Can Leslie, Alice, and I leave the school? My mom is picking us up.”

Mrs. Janise’s eyes fogged up, as their startling blue became a cloudy sky. Before Emma had time to ponder this she replied, "Alright, you may go.”

All three girls were shocked that their plan worked. How had Emma managed to convince Mrs. Janise, one of the strictest teachers in the school, to simply leave? But that didn’t matter now. They had more pressing matters. They had to confront the evil ninjas.
