Brooke smiled and looked at her blank reflection in the mirror. Her eyes stared back at her eagerly, blue crystals against the mint green room. Dakota brushed her hair in the other mirror, letting the smooth ombré strands fall against her shoulders. "Ready for the big day?" Dakota asked her. Brooke nodded in the mirror. "Maybe I can get the company to perform there for less
the money!" Brooke smiled. Dakota nodded, putting her pointe shoes in her bag. "You know, I've heard some intriguing rumors about that place," Dakota stroked her smooth, olive legs. Brooke threw her hairbrush at her. "You're just jealous." "No, really! Ask Gabriella or Dawn! People die, Brooke!" She rolled her eyes and checked her phone. "Bye, Kody!" Dakota said in a tone full of annoyance, "I told you not to call me that, Rook!" Brooke closed the door loudly.
"And for your second lesson in scout code, you'll need to know..." A sigh came from the room next to them. Through the window, Dawn had her ranger outfit on teaching Gabriella about her job. Gabby mouthed, 'help me' and Dawn angrily closed the shade.
Brooke adjusted her glasses and left the apartment and got in her car, driving down the busy street. People hustling about down the streets. Finally the grand picturesque image of the paramount appeared on the edge of the road. She got out and walked into the grand hall, and to the main stage. The staff were talking in very hushed tones. Brooke joined them. "Oh look! It's the new kid!" Her new boss said, shaking her hand. "We were just talking." "Well, somebody's gotta do it," a grey haired man said. "Ok," the boss sighed, "Who gets the night shift?" Brooke, the new girl, raised her hand. "I'm a night owl. I'll take the night shift. Her boss's face turned a strange shade of white. Whispered circled around her. "You need to know that no one comes back from the night shift the same." That sent a chill up Brooke's spine. "What do you mean?" Brooke asked. The boss shook her head," It's- it's," she swallowed hard,"nothing. You start tonight." They walked away. A young lady and gentleman walked behind them,"Well, we didn't need a new girl anyway," the gentleman blinked. "If only she knew about the claw marks on David's chest."
