Chapter 2

Brice POV~

"Goodbye, whoever you are." The sorcerer said, and he started to press his sword into my chest. I could hear the others yelling and hammering at the trapdoor.

"Wait!" I said, and he paused.

"What?"

"I came to talk to you!" I said, and he looked at me, obviously amused.

"Then why bring all the soldiers?" He asked, but I never got to answer because at that moment Ty and Sky broke the trapdoor and tackled him.

He started shouting in different languages, and his eyes glowed purple. Ty and Sky were thrown off of him, and he floated to the ceiling. The others were in the room by now, and Mitch drew his bow an aimed an arrow at the sorcerer.

"Stop, Mitch!" I said, and he lowered his bow. He gave me a puzzled look, but he put back the arrow.

The sorcerer floated closer to the ground, and everyone backed off. When he landed, his eyes stopped glowing and he frowned at us.

"You stopped him from killing me." He said, and he walked closer. "You said you came to talk. So talk."

"I'm King Brice, and this is Team Crafted." I started, but he interrupted me.

"You're King Brice? Of course, the first person to come to my library is a king." He threw his arms up in defeat. I took it as a signal to go on.

"We came here to investigate the stories about a powerful sorcerer living in a tower in the unknown lands. My commanders thought that he might pose a threat." I explained, and he face palmed.

"They probably wanted to get rid of you. And it's just my luck that they decided to use a story of me." He said, and he started pacing.

"You don't seem very happy about this." I said. Normally people would be honored to have a king in their presence.

"Yea, if you haven't noticed I don't like kings." He said, pausing in his pacing to look at me.

"Why?" I asked him.

"Why? Your father is why! 15 years ago, when I was 5, your father had my family killed because we were sorcerers! I only escaped because I hid in a gap in the floorboards. Your father then burned the house down, but I managed to save the entire library. I moved here and built a place where I could be free and protected from kings!" He gestured at the walls. "I've spent years building this tower, the gardens, and repairing the books damaged in the fire! How can I be happy to see a king, when a king killed everyone I loved?! And now you're probably going to get rid of me, too!"

"I'm not the kind of king my father was." I said. "My father was a tyrant, and I can never heal the damage he did. All I can do is hope I can fix it enough to earn forgiveness."

He looked back at me. "Nothing will bring back my family."

"I know. This is one of those times when I hope to be forgiven." I responded.

"...I'll think about it." He said quietly.

"My name is Seto Sorcerer." He stuck out his hand, and I shook it.

"Pleased to meet you." I said, and he laughed.

"I just held a sword to your neck, and you say pleased to meet you? You're a funny guy." Seto said.

I turned my attention to Team Crafted. "You all can leave, I'll catch up with you." I told them, and they nodded and went down the trapdoor.

"Why'd you tell them to leave?" Seto asked curiously.

"Well, I wanted to tell you something. Mainly because I feel like I can trust you." I said, and I sank down to the floor. "I never wanted to be king. When I was a kid, I would try to run away. But the parents of Team Crafted would always find me and bring me back."

"...Why didn't you want to be king?" Seto asked, sitting beside me and putting his hand on my shoulder.

"I didn't want to turn out like my father. I watched what he did to people, and I couldn't stand it. My greatest fear is being like him." I confessed. Seto looked at me for a moment.

"...You know, I feel like I can trust you, too. I'll set up a teleport, so you can visit me anytime you want." He stood up and went to a chest, and grabbed a gold ingot from inside. He also grabbed some iron, and using a spell he formed it into a chain and attached the gold ingot to it. Seto then proceeded to chant another spell, and soon the gold ingot had a purple sheen over it.

"Here, this should allow you to teleport to the tower. It will make you appear down there, just inside the entrance. Then you just have to use it again, and you will teleport back to where you had been before coming here." Seto explained.

"But how do I use it?" I asked him. He put it down before answering.

"All you have to do is say GoldSolace." Seto explained. "You don't even have to say it, you could whisper it or think it."

"Cool!" I exclaimed, and Seto chuckled a bit.

"Now, you'd better catch up to your friends. They're almost at the bottom." He said, and he gave me the amulet. "Whatever you do, don't let anyone else touch this or wear it. In fact, don't take it off at all. I don't want this link to the tower falling into the wrong hands." Seto warned me.

"Ok. See you later Seto." I said, and started down the ladder.

"You can teleport down, you know." He said.

"Oh, right!" I said.

"Bye, Brice." He said as I teleported down.

When I appeared, Sky was so scared that he jumped on top of Ty while screaming "JASON I'M STARTLED!!!!" It took a few minutes to calm him down, but after that we headed home.

(~-_-)~ Another TARDIS time skip to the castle ~(-_-~)

I sat there, looking out a window. We were in a time of peace, so I had already finished all of my daily work. I even did some of tomorrow's work. But my thoughts kept returning to the tower where the sorcerer was waiting. I told the guards not to let anyone disturb me. When I reentered my room, I locked the door behind me and drew the curtains on the windows. Then I went to the center of the room, and thought GoldSolace. In the blink of an eye, I was at the bottom of the tower in the clouds.
