Chapter Five
~ Part I, Siblings~
Aglaia grumbled as two tiny dragonets climbed ontop of her, she was trying to sleep but they beckoned her to play. It's been two years, Aglaia is two years old while her older siblings are five. She and the tiny terrors are only five months apart and it's almost their hatchday. Finally, after more fairly uneeded prodding, Aglaia got up to play tag with the pint-sized cuties. They shared nearly every feature with their mom and eachother except for their personalities and eyes, of course. Diamond and Petunia are both interesting females. Diamond's personality fits her name, being sharp and impossible to get through, she's extremely stubborn and intellegant. If she wants something, she'll normally get it and if she believes something it's near impossible to tell her otherwise. The only person she obeys is her mother and that turns out to be very problematic.
Petunia is also like her name, soft pretty and colorful. She's a sweet girl, but she really does need to stand up for herself more. She's much too sensitive and always gets picked on by the twins. One of the few yet many differences Petunia and Diamond have are their eyes. Diamond has pure ruby red eyes that scared mom once she saw them, that makes Aglaia wonder if red eyes mean something bad that nobody seems to be willing to tell, but Petunia has deep purple eyes that are almost an exact copy of Aglaia's own deep violet colored orbs. It felt pretty good to share an odvious simularity with one of her siblings, even if it was just her eyes.
The dragonets giggled as Aglaia playfully chased them, being careful not to break anything, they kept playing a prolonged game of tag. Aglaia made sure to be careful as to not use all of her speed or power because she knew that'd make it unfair for the other near two-year-olds. Even If it's been a while since she was living like a beast, the effects were everlasting and harsh, leaving her with the constent need to get stronger. Especially with a family to protect.
After a while, the two younger children layed down, huffing and puffing. That caused Aglaia to teasingly bop their snouts, quietly muttering a small 'tag'. That caused the duo to groan. Mom and dad were starting to go out more, leaving Riptide in charge of the other six dragonets. They all understood, this is an early kingdom after all. Aglaia asked the two tots if they were hungry, and they said 'yes'. She liked to try to take care of her family, even if it was just the small stuff.
Her talons made a 'come here' motion, trying to have them follow her to show them her way of hunting. They complied, bounding after Aglaia as she sped out of their shared home, flapping their wings pike little hummingbirds. Aglaia still didn't know how to fly properlly which made her upset because everyone else were excelling at it, and they fly like they've been doing it all their lives. She stored that thought away as she climbed up the tree expertly, gathering a few plumpened jazzberries, then jumping down the high climb strategically, making her siblings gawk like she just did the most difficult task in the world.
Aglaia made sure to have them follow her to the nearest overpopulated pond, then she carefully dropped a few of the vibrant berries onto the small pool of water, making sure they float, she hold a talon over her maw as a 'silence' gesture. They waited patiently, in the same position, her sisters watching in awe as her scales slowly began to creep on its camoflouge until she was almost impossible to see. Aglaia slithered out her black forked toungue, waiting for a fat fish to take the bait, her dark purple eyes' pupils turned to slits as her ears twitched, her instincts in full effect as she readied her claws, waiting for even the slightest ripple to effect the smooth waters appearence and her younger sisters doing the same thing, watching two of the other berries intently.
Then, a fat fish came up and gulped the berry in front of Aglaia, daring her to pounce. Causing her to do just that, and slipping into the water doing so. Catching the delicious creature with her fast jaw, and clawing at its difficultly hard body for extra effect, and after a few moments her sisters went on a catching spree as the fish jumped around, surprised and scared about Aglaia's sudden invasion of their tiny home. She and her two sisters went to their rocky house with a big haul, talonfulls and wingfulls of fish for dinner.

~Part II, Ally~
Aglaia held herself under the herb filled water that she and her family used for bathing. It's in a small clearing, the earthy moss used itself as curtains, not that they needed any privacy, and lotus flowers bloomed themselves in the water, causing a pleasant fragrance to fill the area as the soothing sound of the waterfall adding and taking away from the cool pond. Her family is having a meeting with a possible alliance, most of them are hybrids, much like themselves. They had to look as presentable as possible.
She bathed with all of her siblings and her mother who was helping the two youngest get washed up, as the two oldest inspected the situation as they were planning to cause mischief, no doubt. Riptide, Whirlpool, and Aglaia were all swishing around in the herbal water. They sniffed around the fragrent smelling water, until Riptide and Whirlpool started splashed her with the delicacy, causing her to snap her body around and splash them with the force of her tail. That caused them to chuckle at the tsunami of herb-water that hit them with enough force to tip them backwards a bit. They kept up with harmless splashing until Whirlpool put something on Aglaia's head, causing her to let emit a loud confused groan-sound. That caused her brothers to hold back laughter as she slowly peeled a watered-down, but still pretty lotus flower that looked like it used to be purple.
It wasn't the best flower in the meadow, but it was good enough for Aglaia as she hugged her brothers with her oversized silver wings, not caring about the pale petals that now sticked on her body as she hugged them tight, getting back just what she gave, a bone-crushing hug. The place seemed so serene... until they all got splashed by a double-tidal wave of trouble as the twins splashed them, practically making a ginormous wave while doing so. That made them all to burst out in histarics. Now they all has to go under the waterfall to properlly clean off all of the lightly-fragranced petals because they were now under their scales, which they can only get out by intenscrubbing.
They all moved under the waterfall, which only fit two people at a time, so Aglaia and Riptide went first. After the worn down petals found themselves clinging off of Aglaia's body, she moved out of the cool waterfall and moved her way out of the pond, putting the lotus back on her head and the brown fur bag around her tail. Then she made her way to help cook for the meeting.
When she made it to her family's house, she smelled all sorts of food. It took alot of effort for Aglaia not to drool, dad always knows just how to chill fish, and frost berries. But there was a new, hot and dry smell that caused the smells to travel much further than usual. The oven had flames, she concluded as she watched her father flip a perfectly-cut fish upside down, showing off a beautiful golden colored peice of meat as he used his free talon to move a box of matches further away from hinself. "Oh, hello Aglaia, do you want to help cook?" her father asked, causing her to automatically and eagerly nod her head.
Her father showed her the proper way to handle a fire-cooked fish, and what to look for, how to cut it, what not to do, et cetra. Then that went on to cow, and pig meat. Aglaia loves to help, especially with food. She was normally only allowed to handle and scout berries, but this is a whole new level of food-handling. She helped her dad set up the vast amounts of refreshing berry-water as the meat cooked, because their guests would be traveling from far away, she had heard. Aglaia sniffed as the pig meat popped and sizzled ontop her pan, she had also helped pick out the bowls for each individual type of food they were serving.
The meat set out a delicious aroma as it became harder and harder not to just reach for it and gnaw the rare fire-cooked delicacy as she flipped it, just like her dad showed her, showing off its deep brown, a bit overcooked side as the other raw one began to burn scrumptiously. "Good job, Aglaia! You catch on quite quickly." her father had praised, flipping his perfectly bloody cow meat around.
She licked around her maw and a few moments later, flipped the meat back over, to see that side was cooked to near perfection. With sterile claws, she picked up the meat and put it next to the other peices of pig meat creating a nice patern, knowing there is much more to cook and arrange. This is the perfect time to perfect her meat cooking. So, she slipped thin slices of quick-cooking pig meat onto her pan, knowing this was going to take a while.
...................
Finally, all the meat was cooked and the early day had turned into a dark midday, they both had recleaned their talons as they began to arrange plates and plump, ripe, juicy berries. Agalaia made sure to make them pretty as the rest of the family came in, looking absolutely dazzling. Mom always had the best taste in what to do with scales, or talons, or how to make your scales shine a little extra. Aglaia, Iceburg, and Sakura had set the table, then waited a few moments, and they came.
There were eight dragonets and two parents, no wonder they had made so much food! They all had shared simular features, black and red scales, tall bodies, and fairly intimidating auras. Even the parents! One parent had red scales, the other black. A Skywing and a Nightwing. Something about Nightwings always sent a massive earthquake down Aglaia's spine, she doesn't know why....
Only one single dragonet didn't scare Aglaia out of her wits, he has big, beady yellow eyes and his black scales only covered the upperside of his body, his underbelly to his lower jaw was a bright red color. His toungue licked one of his collosel eyeballs, and just that made Aglaia adore him. The adults talked about politics, while the twins were acting sweet towards one of the six year olds, Thunder, was it? There are two six year olds, three five year olds, two four year olds, and a single two year old. The one she has her purple eyes on.
After a bit, the dragonet she had been staring at switched seats with Riptide, probably so her brother could flirt with the girls, and the new, interesting dragonet sat next to her, practically looking into her soul with his big, unique eyes. "Hello!" he chirped, a little loudly, "I'm Gecko! What's your name?" he asked being loud and happy, like a Duck. She told him her name, causing him to beam, showing off his sharp but tiny teeth. It was silent as the whole room watched as they began to know eachother. Still munching on their meat, the twins smirking devilishly as they noticed their sisters fondness to the lizard like dragon.
After a while, they had agreed on being allies, before they had gone, the Nightwing pointed out, "These carvings look like i think the origional prophecy would." then, they had left.
----------------
"I admit, it WAS dumb for him to hint at that, but now, she might start to finally know she's something bigger than just some dragonet. Plus, she's fond of the defect. They have the same birthday, so I guess we WON'T dispose of him after all. At this rate, we might not even need a prophecy. For now, we should sit and wait."
