Chapter 7

Dangerous Quest? Let's do this

If you think being the son of one of the Big Three is awful, then being Son of Hades is the worst thing ever.

Hades had no cabin in the camp, meaning I had to stay on Hermes' Cabin until Hades gets a cabin... or I make my own.

Because I'm Son of Hades, I'm being accused of summoning that Hellhound that attacked Percy, it made me sickening that people were thinking I would hurt my own friends. I can see people in Hermes' Cabin trying to sleep away as far away from me, being related to The God of the Dead really is not cool. One thing is to be alone but being ignored like some kind of plague was really hurtful.

In sword fighting lessons, nobody wanted to fight me, they were so afraid, saying I could kill them with a touch, the fact they were pushing me away did hurt, including with Percy. The fact Percy defeated the Ares cabin scared them and me being a Son of Hades... I got to stop saying that.

Luke pushed me and Percy more than ever, to such a degree that I had a bit of problems in the aftermath.

Annabeth still taught us Greek, but the time she was teaching was less, much more less. Every time any of us said something, she scowled at us angrily.

She even muttered herself, "Quest...

"Poseidon?... Hades?! Dirty rotten... Got to make a plan..."

Clarisse also kept her distance between us, though her venomous glare told everything, she hated us, hated Percy more exactly for breaking her spear... and maybe for the broken tooth.

I was walking to the cabin, Hermes' Cabin, and I saw a newspaper in the floor, I looked at it deciding to know what it was about. It was about me... and mom.

Two Boys and Mother still missing after freak accident

By Sofia Lawrence

Y/N Galanis, Thomas Brightwood and Andrea Galanis are still missing more than one week after their mysterious disappearance. The family's badly burned 05' black Lexus RX 330 was discovered last Saturday on a north Long Island road with their door ripped off and the front axle broken. The car had flipped and skidded for several hundred metres before exploding.

The Galanis child was stated to be suspended in Skyline Activity after unknown reasons. There were small traces of blood after the crash, but neither of the Galanis or Thomas Brightwood was found after the crash.

Andrea's fiancé Zack Smith states that Y/N is a troubled child with ADHD, and he believes the crash that caused their disappearance must have been planned by someone, he wishes his wife and future step son back along with Y/N's friend.

Police states that crash has too many similarities with the disappearance of Percy and Sally Jackson a few days later. Police urge anyone with information to call the following toll free crime stoppers hotline.

I saw the number circled in a black marker, as I angrily throw the newspaper away, entering the cabin and closing the cabin's door.

I hate this, being treated differently, people being scared of me, like if I was a freak, being blamed because a Hellhound entered, a Hellhound that I didn't even know it was a... well... a Hellhound. I hate being Son of Hades, I hate him being my father, I hate that he brought me to this world just so people get afraid of me, I have right now at this point no friends but Percy and Thomas, hell, I couldn't even talk to Kajsa who tried to keep distance, I'm sharing a Cabin with the thieves of Camp Half Blood, alone with no one else but me and the two mentioned...

What would mom do, or dad... what would Uncle Tony do now?

Next day, I woke up quickly, it wasn't even much sunrise, is better that I leave without no one noticing, is better that way. So I just grab my hat and guitar, opening the door's cabin and walked out. I looked to the sky... I see the sky and ocean reacting a bit off... like angry, huge thunders and rain coming and the water which at any point can turn into a tsunami.

Road ahead is filled with thunder and rain... but is the only road I have to return home, I have to tell dad that I'm fine, but how do I tell him that mom's dead? Will he blame me? Oh god I hope he doesn't, everything ends like that in someone's life. I don't want to end like that.

I see Percy and Grover walk to the porch quickly, as I see them... if I go there, Chiron will know I'm going to leave, if I don't, the chances I'm being hunted by the monsters after I leave and me without a weapon are high... what do I do?

I looked at the porch and then at the exit... screw it, I'm going to the porch, gonna meet with Percy and Grover, tell them I might be leaving and if I get a weapon on the way, is better.

I follow them, until I see Thomas behind, running towards me.

"Tommy?" I asked confused as he looks at me, slowly stopping.

"Mr D wants to see you, like right now!"

"If it's to send me away, good." I told him as he looks confused as I walk to the porch.

"Send you away? Your leaving?" he asked confused as I sigh after his question.

I said, "Yes, I'm leaving Tommy. I can't stay in this camp, not with people fearing me, or blaming me, I hate this, man. Everyone looks at me like some kind of freak right now, at least Percy is because of his connection to Poseidon but me? I'm don't have an Olympian father, I have probably an emo bastard who sits everyday in his goddamn diamond throne and not giving a flying damn about his son! At this point, mom lied of who he was, he probably raped her, he's just as bad as the other two bastards"

Thomas quickly covered his head when I called Poseidon and Zeus 'bastards' nothing happens and he looks at me angrily.

"Dude, name have power but they can hear everything, if they heard you calling them that, you'd be dead now, erased from existence by either of them, probably Jupiter will." I was left dumbfounded after that... who's Jupiter?

"Who's Jupiter?"

"Roman Zeus, gah, just go to Mr D, now or we're both dead! Go! Go!" he started to push me against my will and well... I just go.

We walk to the Big House, to the front porch more exactly. Dionysus sat at the pinochle table in his tiger-striped Hawaiian shirt with his Diet Coke, just as he had on my first day. Chiron sat across the table in his fake wheelchair. They were playing against invisible opponents, two sets of cards hovering in the air. I see Percy and Grover arrive next... wait how did they arrived after me?

"Well, well." Mr D said without looking up. "Our little celebrities."

We waited, and I gulped, did I gulp? Yeah I gulped.

"Come closer, you two. Mr D said. "And don't expect me to kowtow to you, mortals, just because old Barnacle-Beard and The Unseen are your fathers."

A net of lightning flashed across the clouds. Thunder shook the windows of the house.

"Blah, blah, blah." Mr D said.

Chiron feigned interest in his pinochle cards. Grover cowered by the railing, his hooves clopping back and forth.

"'If I had my way," Mr D said, "I would cause your molecules to erupt in flames. We'd sweep up the ashes and be done with a lot of trouble. But Chiron seems to feel this would be against my mission at this cursed camp: to keep you little brats safe from harm."

"Spontaneous combustion is a form of harm." Chiron said.

"Nonsense." Mr D said. "The boys wouldn't feel a thing. Nevertheless, I've agreed to restrain myself. I'm thinking of turning you into a dolphin instead, sending you back to your father. If I do accidentally kill you, your father will greet you in open arms down there... probably."

"Mr D." Chiron warned.

"Oh, all right." Mr D relented. "There's one more option. But it's deadly foolishness." Dionysus rose, and the invisible players' cards dropped to the table.

"I'm off to Olympus for the emergency meeting. If the boy is still here when I get back, I'll turn him into an Atlantic bottlenose, the other? A Rottweiler, so he can play with his three headed pal. Do you understand? And Perseus Jackson, Y/N Galanis, if you're both at all smart, you'll see that's a much more sensible choice than what Chiron feels you two must do."

Mr D picked up a playing card, twisted it, and it became a plastic rectangle. A credit card? No. A security pass... gods have security passes?

He snapped his fingers.

The air seemed to fold and bend around him. He became a holograph, then a wind, then he was gone, leaving only the smell of fresh-pressed grapes lingering behind.

Chiron smiled at us, but he looked tired and strained. 'Sit, Percy, Y/N, please. And Grover, Thomas, you too."

We sit.

Chiron laid his cards on the table, a winning hand he hadn't got to use.

"Tell me, Percy." he said. "What did you make of the hellhound?"

I saw Percy shudder when he heard the name, he was still slightly traumatized of the events, wouldn't blame him, I was scared too, and the Hellhound ignored me.

"It scared me." he said. "If you hadn't shot it, I'd be dead."

Chiron looks at me. "It was a miracle you weren't hurt by it, Y/N. How did you see him?"

"It was right in the open, I don't know why but Percy didn't see the kids of the War God or the giant dog, was there some magic we don't know?"

"No, is you. Your connection to the Underworld has given you some sort of night vision, just like Percy never seems to get wet by water, you've seen to gain the ability to see through the shadows. I'm sorry, is just we've never had a Child of the Unseen in a long time, if not ever." he stated, just to look at Percy once more. "You'll meet worse, Percy. Far worse, before you're done."

"Done... with what?" Percy asked.

"Your quest, of course. Will you accept it?"

Percy in shock looks at me and then at Grover and Thomas, as Grover had his fingers crossed... it was so cute in a sense.

"Um, sir," he said. "you haven't told me what it is yet."

Chiron grimaced. "Well, that's the hard part, the details."

We then hear the storm arrive, thunders being heard and the rain as strong as ever... they were in a way angry, it was very unnatural... oh god I know now... Zeus and Poseidon are fuming.

"Poseidon and Zeus. "I said. "They're fighting over something valuable... something that was stolen, aren't they?"

Chiron shared glances with Grover and Thomas.

Chiron sat forward in his wheelchair. "How did you know that?"

Percy was now the one to gulp, he regretted this already. "The weather since Christmas has been weird, like the sea and the sky are fighting. Then I talked to Annabeth, and she'd overheard something about a theft. And... I've also been having these dreams."

"Dreams? Is that normal?" I asked to Chiron.

Chiron nods at my question.

"I knew it!" Grover said.

"Hush, satyr." Chiron ordered.

"But it is his quest!" Grover's eyes were bright with excitement. "It must be!"

"Only the Oracle can determine." Chiron stroke his beard like some macho rich man.

"Nevertheless, Percy, you are correct. Your father and Zeus are having their worst quarrel in centuries. They are fighting over something valuable that was stolen. To be precise: a lightning bolt."

I looked confused and Percy laughs awkwardly. "A what?" Percy asked.

"Do not take this lightly." Chiron warned. "I'm not talking about some tinfoil- covered zigzag you'd see in a second-grade play. I'm talking about a two-foot-long cylinder of high-grade celestial bronze, capped on both ends with god-level explosives."

"So Zeus' Lightning Bolt, the same one the Cyclopes created in his fight against the Titans?" I asked.

"Alongside Poseidon's Trident and the Helm of Darkness your father has? Yes. Zeus' master bolt. The symbol of his power, from which all other lightning bolts are patterned. The bolt that sheered the top off Mount Etna and hurled Kronos from his throne; the master bolt, which packs enough power to make mortal hydrogen bombs look like firecrackers."

"So is a Tsar bolt, okay." I said.

"And it's missing?" Percy asked.

"Stolen." Chiron said.

"By who?"

"By whom" Chiron corrected Percy, well... he was our teacher after all. "By you."

I looked at Chiron shocked and then at Percy... damn... okay someone is playing charades.

"At least" Chiron held up a hand. "that's what Zeus thinks. During the winter solstice, at the last council of the gods, Zeus and Poseidon had an argument. The usual nonsense: "Mother Rhea always liked you best," "Air disasters are more spectacular than sea disasters," et cetera. Afterwards, Zeus realized his master bolt was missing, taken from the throne room under his very nose. He immediately blamed Poseidon. Now a god cannot usurp another god's symbol of power directly that is forbidden by the most ancient of divine laws. But Zeus believes your father convinced a human hero to take it."

"But I didn't-"

"Patience and listen, child." Chiron said. "Zeus has good reason to be suspicious. The forges of the Cyclopes are under the ocean, which gives Poseidon some influence over the makers of his brother's lightning. Zeus believes Poseidon has taken the master bolt, and is now secretly having the Cyclopes build an arsenal of illegal copies, which might be used to topple Zeus from his throne. The only thing Zeus wasn't sure about was which hero Poseidon used to steal the bolt. Now Poseidon has openly claimed you as his son. You were in New York over the winter holidays. You could easily have snuck into Olympus. Zeus believes he has found his thief."

"But I've never even been to Olympus! Zeus is crazy!"

Chiron, Grover and Thomas look to the sky, awaiting the lightning bolt to strike them.

"Hey, I said the b-word and we're still alive... god I think I jinxed us."

"Er, Percy...?"Grover said. "We don't use the c-word to describe the Lord of the Sky."

"Perhaps paranoid." Chiron suggested. "Then again, Poseidon has tried to unseat Zeus before. I believe that was question thirty-eight on your final exam..." He looked at him, was there really a question based on that? Percy what were they teaching you, buddy.

"Something about a golden net?" Percy guessed. "Poseidon and Hera and a few other gods... they, like, trapped Zeus and wouldn't let him out until he promised to be a better ruler, right?"

"Correct." Chiron said. "And Zeus has never trusted Poseidon since. Of course, Poseidon denies stealing the master bolt. He took great offence at the accusation. The two have been arguing back and forth for months, threatening war. And now, you've come along the proverbial last straw."

"But I'm just a kid." Percy said.

"Percy," Grover cut in. "if you were Zeus, and you already thought your brother was plotting to overthrow you, then your brother suddenly admitted he had broken the sacred oath he took after World War II, that he's fathered a new mortal hero who might be used as a weapon against you... Wouldn't that put a twist in your toga?"

"But I didn't do anything. Poseidon, my dad, he didn't really have this master bolt stolen, did he?"

"Most thinking observers would agree that thievery is not Poseidon's style. But the sea god is too proud to try convincing Zeus of that. Zeus has demanded that Poseidon return the bolt by the summer solstice. That's June twenty-first, ten days from now. Poseidon wants an apology for being called a thief by the same date. I hoped that diplomacy might prevail, that Hera or Demeter or Hestia would make the two brothers see sense. But your arrival has inflamed Zeus's temper. Now neither god will back down. Unless someone intervenes, unless the master bolt is found and returned to Zeus before the solstice, there will be war. And do you know what a full-fledged war would look. like, Percy?"

"Bad." he guessed.

"Imagine the world in chaos. Nature at war with itself. Olympians forced to choose sides between Zeus and Poseidon. Destruction. Carnage. Millions dead. Western civilization turned into a battleground so big it will make the Trojan War look like a water-balloon fight."

"Bad." he repeated.

"Can the underworld even handle that many amount of people?"

"It can." said Chiron.

"So I have to find the stupid bolt." Percy said. "And return it to Zeus."

"What better peace offering," Chiron said, "than to have the son of Poseidon return Zeus's property?"

"W-Was that sarcasm? I can't tell." I asked him.

"It is not." Chiron said.

"If Poseidon doesn't have it, where is the thing?"

"I believe I know." Chiron's expression was grim. "Part of a prophecy I had years ago... well, some of the lines make sense to me, now. But before I can say more, you must officially take up the quest. You must seek the counsel of the Oracle."

"The oracle? Why not tell him from the get-go?" I asked him.

"Because if I did, he would be too afraid to accept the challenge."

"That... makes sense." I said.

"Yeah, good reason." Percy said after me.

"You agree then?"

We look at Grover who was nodding at such speed, he really wanted to do this... is he forgetting Percy is Zeus' victim?

"All right." I said. "It's better than being turned into a dolphin."

"You too will go, Y/N." Chiron told me... wait what?

"Me?" I asked confused.

"Your journey is beginning, Y/N. I know what you were trying to do, I can't let you leave the camp."

"Huh?" Percy looked confused at me.

"I am aware how some are treating you, so try and use this as a way to prove them wrong, that your more than just a Child of the Unseen, that you mean no harm or that you didn't summoned that Hellhound. Do you wish to accompany Percy Jackson on this quest?"

That was a turn of an event, but this... saving the world from a godly war? All right, let's do it.

"All right." I said nodding at him.

"Then it's time you two consulted the Oracle,' Chiron said. 'Go upstairs, Percy Jackson, Y/N Galanis, to the attic. When you two come back down, assuming you both re still sane, we will talk more."

"Sane? What do you mean still sane?" I ask confused.

Four flights up, the stairs ended under a green trapdoor.

I pulled the cord. The door swung down, and a wooden ladder clattered into place.

The warm air from above smelled like mildew and rotten wood and something else... a smell I remembered all too well... snakes... I hate snakes.

I look at Percy who looked confused... until he gets the smell and does a disgusted face.

"Oh..." Percy said.

"Yep... snakes... oh god..." we both held our breath and climbed up.

The attic was filled with Greek hero junk: armour stands covered in cobwebs; once bright shields pitted with rust; old leather steamer trunks plastered with stickers saying ITHAKA, CIRCE'S ISLE and LAND OF THE AMAZONS. One long table was stacked with glass jars filled with pickled things– severed hairy claws, huge yellow eyes, various other parts of monsters. A dusty mounted trophy on the wall looked like a giant snake's head, but with horns and a full set of shark's teeth. The plaque read: HYDRA HEAD NO. I, WOODSTOCK, NY, 1969.

By the window, sitting on a wooden tripod stool, was the most gruesome memento of all: a mummy. Not the wrapped-in-cloth kind, but a human female body shrivelled to a husk. She wore a tie-dyed sundress, lots of beaded necklaces, and a headband over long black hair. The skin of her face was thin and leathery over her skull, and her eyes were glassy white slits, as if the real eyes had been replaced by marbles; she'd been dead a long, long time.

Looking at her sent chills up my back, Percy probably had the same chills. And that was before she sat up on her stool and opened her mouth. A green mist poured from the mummy's mouth, coiling over the floor in thick tendrils, hissing like twenty-thousand snakes. I stumbled over myself trying to get to the trapdoor, but it slammed shut. Inside my head, I heard a voice, slithering into one ear and coiling around my brain.

I look at Percy, who also heard that voice... that son of a gun, voice.

I am the spirit of Delphi, speaker of the prophecies of Phoebus Apollo, slayer of the mighty Python. Approach, seeker, and ask.

I look at Percy who was about to leave, me too... but we have to do this. I take a deep breath and Percy behind does so as well... we're talking to a mummy, nothing shocking, not when I'm Son of... okay I'm going to shut up.

The mummy wasn't alive. She was some kind of gruesome receptacle for something else, the power that was now swirling around me in the green mist. The presence didn't feel really evil, it wasn't evil at all, not like the Minotaur... I don't feel that it has the intention to kill us.

"What is my destiny?" I heard Percy ask, finally manning up.

I saw mist surround Percy, as I quickly walk away, letting the Oracle speak to Percy alone.

You shall go west, and face the god who has turned. You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned. You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend. And you shall fail to save what matters most, in the end.

I look at the mummy in confusion, as the mist disperses from Percy, who in shock looked at the Oracle.

"Wait! What do you mean? What friend? What will I fail to save?

The Oracle said nothing, as she reclined back to the wall, mouth closed, I look at Percy... she wasn't gonna answer anything else. Percy returned to Chiron... but I didn't, as I stand in front of the mummy.

"What is my destiny?" I ask the mummy... which answers to me as well... the mist surrounds me more thickly, as I could make a few figures... I saw Uncle Tony, dad and mom... they were all in Uncle Tony's ranch, watching the horses... one that a kid version of me was riding.

I knew this wasn't real, Tony and mom alive? Dead giveaway.

Uncle Tony looks at me with those empty eyes, as I look in shock... but the voice that comes out... it was the Oracles.

You shall go west, and face the god who has turned.

She already said that to Percy... if she's a she, as now dad's body talks.

You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned.

Still... she said it to Percy, or it said it? I'm not sure. Now I saw mom talk to me.

You shall be betrayed by one who calls you friend.

Who calls me friend? I mean, again, said it to Percy... but that means Percy won't betray me, can it be Thomas? Or Kajsa-

You shall be broken, by what you've been hidden from.

What? The Oracle... it didn't say that to Percy... but it did to... me? What? I look back... seeing kid me say it... as the mist disperse, as I see the Oracle do the exact same motion when she ended her speech with Percy.

My audience with the Oracle was over... but whatever she said ringed on my head heavily.

I walked away, seeing Percy with Chiron, Grover and Thomas still in the front porch.

"Well?" Chiron asked me.

"T-The same things it said to Percy: fighting a turned god, find what was stolen," I looked at Percy... and he looked back at me... he didn't share the full story. "and that's about it."

"Very well, you two. But know this: the Oracle's words often have double meanings. Don't dwell on them too much. The truth is not always clear until events come to pass."

I looked at Chiron... I think he knows we're hiding something from him, but he decides to just try and make us feel better.

"Okay." Percy said, anxious to change topics. "So where do I go? Who's this god in the west?"

"Ah, think, Percy." Chiron said. "If Zeus and Poseidon weaken each other in a war, who stands to gain?"

"Father..."

Percy was about to say something, but I looked at Chiron who looks back.

"The only one left to take such place is father, but he's not an Olympian, why wait so long to do it, this is... a puzzle, we're missing a lot of pieces.

"You think is not him?" Thomas asked me.

"W-We can't go by the devil idea. Every 'mythology' has it's own hell and devil, I-I did my own research sometimes. Kali, Hel, Apaphis, Anubis, Shinigami, dad? They're all technically the devils of the story... but not every devilish god is truly evil, just misunderstood, o-or they're just doing their job, like how some Christians would think, that those from below are practically evil. I say we hold that thought... before coming into a conclusion."

Chiron stayed quiet after that, later looking at Thomas and Grover, just to look at me once more.

"Your father is a bitter god, Y/N, but honorable and brilliant, you do have his great mind."

"U-Um... thanks?" was be complimenting me or... what?

"O-Okay, if Hades isn't the culprit, then who could it be?" Percy asked, as Chiron shrugged.

"I don't know, that's part of the quest. Even still, with all that Y/N said, we can't write Hades off. Percy must go to the Underworld, find the master bolt and reveal the truth." Chiron said.

Oh great... that means I have to meet father? Wait... mom's dead... can he... be keeping mom's soul? In the worst parts of the Underworld? Nah that's probably beyond what he would to do a beautiful and kind woman my mother is... right?

Grover was eating pinochle cards like potato chips, Thomas wasn't that worried, I know he will go but... this is a huge thing for Grover.

"Look, if we know it's Hades,' Percy told Chiron, 'why can't we just tell the other gods? Zeus or Poseidon could go down to the Underworld and bust some heads."

"Percy, we're not sure father did it, we have no proof, and from what I know, he's probably the only god of the sons of the Titan of Time that hasn't tried or dared to steal Zeus' throne, unless he plans to fill his realm with dead souls." I told him... that... is actually something clever... Chiron said dad is brilliant... what if his plan is to fill the Underworld with so many souls, that he could technically become the most powerful god... if that's how it works.

"Even if he was, gods cannot cross each other's territories except by invitation. That is another ancient rule. Heroes, on the other hand, have certain privileges. They can go anywhere, challenge anyone, as long as they're bold enough and strong enough to do it. No god can be held responsible for a hero's actions. Why do you think the gods always operate through humans?"

"You're saying I'm being used?" Percy asked.

"I'm saying it's no accident Poseidon has claimed you now. It's a very risky gamble, but he's in a desperate situation. He needs you."

"If Poseidon claimed Percy, why Hades claimed me?" I asked and looked at Chiron, and then at Percy... could it be that.... I'm the friend that will betray Percy, as in... we will betray each other of some sort?

Percy knew what I meant... I could tell he really wished that isn't the case.

"You've known I was Poseidon's son all along, haven't you?" Percy asked Chiron.

"had my suspicions. As I said... I've spoken to the Oracle, too."

I could tell that Chiron was hiding something, regarding Percy's prophecy, he must be.

"So let me get this straight," Percy said. 'I'm supposed go to the Underworld and confront the Lord of the Dead."

"Check." Chiron said.

"Find the most powerful weapon in the universe."

"Check."

"And get it back to Olympus before the summer solstice, in ten days."

"That's about right."

"Um, no pressure?" Percy looked at me after my comment, and I leave a worried smile after.

"'Did I mention that Maine is very nice this time of year?" Grover asked weakly, as Thomas pats his back.

"I'm sure you didn't." Thomas said.

"Your actually willing to go, Tommy?"

"Yeah. This satyr can handle can handle some rocks... and maybe the shadows... and death... oh I forgot the giant three headed dog."

"H-How big?" I asked him.

"Like... 40 feet? Not sure if it's more or less." after he said that... oh I wish being his son gives me some immunity to underworld things.

"You don't have to go," Percy told Grover. "I can't ask that of you."

"Oh..." He shifted his hooves. "No... it's just that satyrs and underground places... well..."

Grover took a deep breath and brushed away the aluminum in his shirt, looking at Percy. "You saved my life, Percy. If... if you're serious about wanting me along, I won't let you down."

I looked at Percy, god was he going to cry? Oh yeah he is, hope being Son of Poseidon means making rivers of tears.

"All the way, G-man." he turned to Chiron. "So where do we go? The Oracle just said to go west."

"The entrance to the Underworld is always in the west. It moves from age to age, just like Olympus. Right now, of course, it's in America."

"Where?"

Chiron looked surprised. "I thought that would be obvious enough. The entrance to the Underworld is in Los Angeles."

"Yes!" I may have said that too loud, as I look at the others. "S-Sorry, I just always wanted to go to Los Angeles."

"So we just get on a plane-" Percy was then interrupted by Grover.

"No!" Grover shrieked. "Percy, what are you thinking? Have you ever been on a plane in your life?"

"Percy, think." Chiron said. "You are the son of the Sea God. Your father's bitterest rival is Zeus, Lord of the Sky. Your mother knew better than to trust you in an aeroplane. You would be in Zeus's domain. You would never come down again alive."

"So we go by foot to Los Angeles? We're in Long Island. We can't go by foot... it can take weeks!"

"That's right," Chiron said. "Five companions may accompany you. Grover is one. The other has already volunteered, if you will accept her help, the other? Just in case."

"Five? So it's Grover, Thomas and I... who are the other two?" I asked.

Air shimmered behind Chiron, seeing Annabeth... OH COME ON!!!

"You gotta be kidding me." I said to myself.

"I've been waiting a long time for a quest, Seaweed Brain," she said. "Athena is no fan of Poseidon, but if you're going to save the world, I'm the best person to keep you from messing up, just like you cowboy-"

"Don't call me that! Alright? Mom called me that, she's dead, your not her and I don't like you... don't." I did say that way too loud, as I look at the others... as well as Annabeth, she might have gotten used to it... but sensing her soul... not really.

"I need a break." I quickly walk away from the porch, as I look down the stairs... seeing Kajsa walking up, I literally take a step back... she was the other one.

"Let me guess... your the other one to join Percy's journey?" I asked her, as she shrugged smiling.

"Yeah... volunteered knowing how things are going with both of you." she still had that cute tone of voice, it was something that you would hear from a singer, as I sigh and groan after it.
