My hands flew to the hand, securely wrapped around my neck. I try prying it off, only to get a failed attempt. I feel myself being lifted off the ground, and my legs instantly start kicking. I try to scream, which gets muffled, because he puts his hand over my mouth. I got a small screech out, but I don't know Eugene heard it. I wasn't sure until I heard running footsteps, then a gun being cocked. I think he said something but I can't hear over the screaming sound of death. Then the hand released me and my hearing came back with a screeching white noise type thing. My eyes basically peeled themselves open. Eugene was standing over the person, who's gender still wasn't identifiable, he brought his gun up and shot them. Then he ran over to me, and I had somehow dropped to the floor. Probably from lack of oxygen. He crouches in front of me, lifting my chin with his thumb and forefinger. His fingers from his other hand gingerly roam around my now tender neck area.
"I-is there a bruise?" I ask, try hard not to stammer too much.
"Yeah." He whispers. He releases my chin which I take as an okay to put my head back into its resting position. Eugene's green eyes were laced with concern.
"Why are you so worried, you've probably had and done worse." He nods. Leaning in slowly. Probably trying to be sly, I stand up, and his face comes into contact with my leg. I grab the book, and then I take the key out of my pocket, and push it into the air. "Reira!" I yell then walk through, Eugene crawls in after. I run upstairs, and look out the window. It stopped blizzard-ing, and was now sunny. It was probably still cold. I walk into the kitchen and sit at the table. Eugene comes in and sits opposite of me.
"Should we make dinner?" He asks, I shake my head. Then open the book, the red pen or blood was gone. I scan through the pages. Unlike Romeo and Juliet, this book was more modern, kinda about social classes. Eugene was tapping his fingers on the table. Tapping a song that he probably had stuck in his head. I place the thick book down on the table, and stand up. I walk into the kitchen and pull open the fridge, which had a few fruits and cold liquids in it. I grab and apple and bite into it. The sweet taste immediately overflowing my mouth with happy flavors. I ignore the happiness basically spreading over my tongue and walk to the table where Eugene was sat. He glanced up at me, smirking at the sight of me eating. "Thought you didn't want dinner."
"I don't this is an apple, not a full 3 course meal." He laughs slightly at my sassy comeback.
"Fine, no dinner for you then." I grin and continue munching on my apple. I could feel him watching which, of course, was weird. I glance up at him, his deep green eyes were scanning my head, memorizing every little feature. I eventually finish my apple and toss the core into the trash can.
"I'm gonna try and find Mylo, you don't need to help." I say, turning and walking into Mylo's room. I pull the book out from under the mattress and scan through the pages. None of the words were giving me anything. I sat there for a good 30 minutes flipping through that book and I got nothing. I run my fingers through my hair. My hair fell over my face and shoulders. I brush it out of my face and continue through the pages. Looking over every single square centigrade. My eyes fall on a word I recognize. Mabuk. That's where Nelly, Dave and Tessa live. I shake my head. He's not there. I continue looking through, and I see a word that I'm almost 100% positive is somewhere I should check. It reads: Ngaro.
